  • What an awesome composition for the four to pull off in late 1963. In my opinion, this is the most "musically inclined" song The Beatles had recorded by this time. Overdubbed tambourine, claves, bongos, guitar, and vocals... man! Recorded September 12, 1963 using take 15 as the final master recording. Paul went all out during recording with a heavy groove bass line, and a very difficult claves count. The bass score is definitely up there for best Beatle bass songs. Ringo also grooving with several rocking roll fills, and of course George's lead riff which just tops this song off.
    Recreating the claves score that McCartney plays in the recording was very difficult to catch on to. The claves beat feels very off beat, but hey, that's what Paul played, so that's what I play! His bass line as well was a difficult one to learn, but once you get it down, it is so cool. You hear the bongos as well that Ringo played, but it is hard to tell how he played them. My guess was with claves, because it has that deep sound, but it also could have been drumsticks? John's tambourines are audible throughout the track as well. The best part about the tambourine part is that Lennon played after the breaks continuing to the next part in the song... wonderful. We hope you enjoy this cover of "Don't Bother Me." Next song coming up is an action packed one!

    I was never able to hear John's rhythm guitar in the song. Is there even one on the track?

      Yes thier is rythum guitar in the track. Its just very faint. If you pan the song to the left, I belive, you can hear the rythum guitar. You can otherwite find isolated tracks for the song that show the rythum guitar.

    Think Lennon played the descending riff in the verse on this one?

      We've heard this a million times, and even tried recording it that way, but the Rick sounds nothing like the real song. The Country Gentleman gave the closest sound.

      @@beatlesrevisited8350 I personally find the Gretsch tone in this recreation thinner and cleaner than the riff on the record, which sounds to me more a similar tone to the rhythm guitar in I want to Hold your hand. But hey, different ears! Enjoyed it

      On the original song their was a bleed through on the recording of George Harrison saying “too fast” so we decided to add it as well.

    Nice! But, I’m pretty sure John played lead on this one with his c58.

      @beatlesrevisited8350  2 года назад +1

      I've heard that as well, but the lead tracks sound nothing like a Rickenbacker. You can definitely tell the rhythm track is played on the 325 though. We also don't have a black c58 so we used the 64 on this one!

      @@beatlesrevisited8350 But how can George sing and play that lead part at the same time? George is playing chords and can really be heard during the solo.

    • @beatlesrevisited8350
      @beatlesrevisited8350  2 года назад

      Yes he did, vocals were sung over his lead playing. It's simple to play as it's just a moving chord pattern from B, A, G. So he definitely sung over it. Keep on mind vocals were double tracked for this one. That is why you hear the lead riff continue under the solo. 👍

    • @beatlesrevisited8350

      Nothing, the 58 has more gainy pickups I think. Probably because the middle pickup is cut. The 58 would be visually correct but didn't have the right sound for this song!
