You should get more boost when you hook up the vacuum actuator. The turbo looks like it has VTG (variable turbine geometry). The actuator is connected to fins inside the exhaust side and activating that, the pitch of the fins will send more exhaust gases onto the wheel.

And then, of course, they could add an intercooler... but none of that is likely to be a big deal at the 2-3 PSI they are seeing.

It doesn't make any meaningful amount of boost because without volume in the plenum, you're working against the intake valve. The smaller the engine, and especially with single cylinders, the more plenum volume you need. Add about a coke-bottle sized air chamber in between the turbo and head, and increase the main jet size by about 50%, it will fly. Just make sure you design it so that the lowest part of the coldside piping is still the intake port, if that makes sense. You don't want fuel puddling up. -Doc
I say that thing needs a CVT/snowmobile style clutch on it, since yall cooked the one on it now. That and a surge tank for the turbo so it can build proper boost, similar to how BoostedBoi Kyle did on his turbo shopping go kart.
I really hope you guys make more motorcycle builds in the future, I would be really interested in what bike components are worth upgrading and modifying!
Get a stage 2 kit with a billet aluminum flywheel, camshaft, 22lb valve springs and billet connecting rod and take out the governor for goodness sakes, that's the one thing that's keeping you from getting good top speed and maybe even a smaller rear sprocket for the wheel for even more top speed. Probably add front brakes as well just in case lol.
I did a draw through carburetor setup on my sisters old SAAB V4, the way I solved the distance from throttle issue was I ran a diverter valve from those old ford vans that had 2 gas tanks. I ran the fuel pump to the diverter valve and then put one hose to the carb and one to the throttle body. when I hit the diverter on start-up it pumps fuel straight into the throttle body, it's essentially just a really strong choke haha, love these videos!!!!
This thing goes 30 stock. I had this exact CT200U-EX and topped out at 30, and the way to do it, is to remove the throttle limiter screw on the throttle linkage. It limits like 30% of the bike's power. (I achieved 30mph after also partially disabling the governor, but aside from that, everything was 100% stock).
@rubengomez1589 Yeah the sprocket makes a HUGE difference! I was just about to run a new one that would've cut my ratio in half, and theoretically near doubled the speed. Unfortunately, I sold it because as a 15 year old, the police don't like when I ride it on the street and I wasn't looking to get my license at 18. I also never fully disabled the governor because I didn't want my valves to float, and didn't feel like spending 300 on a new flywheel, valve springs, and rod. These things rip if you know what to do with them!
Remove the governor and get a billet rod and billet flywheel so the stock one won’t explode past a certain rpm. And also putting a torque converter on or just straight chain helps by getting rid of the stock jack shaft setup
"You ain't got nuthin but time!" The look on his face hearing that just reminded me of every time I've had to sacrifice sleep in the garage. We all know that look. 😂
Good work guys. Try putting a torque converter on it you may be able to harness more of the power. Made a massive difference on my 200cc drift trike. Keep up the good work..
i know working with big team is hard and sometimes people are strange and things get a little bit uncomfortable. but..... these videos are wholesome, fun and interesting it is a win
They are pretty simple structures, and that engine is such low performance that its not really pushing it even when you double the power. Consider that KTM makes a similar size 200cc that makes 26 HP stock, you realize these aren't exactly competing against stock small motorcycles even with a turbo and NOS.
14:15, it didn't last a day with those modifications. But if you left it stock I would give it a year and my 14yr old self would have that thing ragged. Been there done that.
@@jakegarrett8109 The bike uses incredibly thin tubing. It is marketed as a children’s toy. They are not sold as motorcycles at all, they are mini-bikes with a 196cc log-splitter engine. This bike is $799, KTM’s 200 is a real motorcycle and costs thousands of dollars. I don’t think it is fair to compare. I paid an additional 800 for Tillotson 225 racing motor with 18+ hp that will make you shit your pants. It is not legal or practical at all, but it is fun. In their videos, the turbo and nos do almost nothing as the gearing has not changed and they made no modifications to the internals of the engine. I would be surprised if their bike makes even 12hp. These Coleman’s have the potential to hit 60+ mph. KTM’s bike is also a full-size motorcycle, these are much smaller.
@@nicholasgascoyne3144 I'm aware the limitations, since they were doing drag testing I'd keep the gearing stock (or use a CVT from a go-cart, or I've also got a small torque converter which allows you to double your torque at takeoff but mine doesn't have electromagnetic torque locking capability so you'll lose top speed due to inefficiency not being able to lock it at speed). My guess is they turned that 6-6.5 HP engine into MAYBE 10 HP (could be 12, but I'm with you its still very close to single digits), and that's kind of my point. Any motorcycle engine is going to make more, even my grandfather's 90cc did 70 mph stock with a full size adult. Kids wreck these all the time though, and you don't want parents angry that a broken pipe jabbed into a kids leg, so its not that thin. Also my neighbor was about 200-230 pounds when he was 12 (he looked like an adult), and his little 96cc roughly minibike held up to him making little tiny ramps (which is a massive loading condition coming down without suspension), so the frame design is quite good for what it is (it could be better, but its actually not that bad). And with low power its not exactly twisting the engine out of its mounts.
Get rid of that clutch assembly and run a torque converter and you will run 45 on a stock motor. Lower rpms and more torque. Rides like a Polaris auto transmission atv. Love the content. Keep up the awesome videos.
I think this should become a new show for you "money pit mini" you have to build up that bike but you can only use things from wish or no name brands on ebay and Amazon harbor freight unless you can't find the right part. First thing is fix whatever broke at the track then diy weld a trike frame so you have more mounting points and support. This is an idea I'd love to see you guys do.
Change it to a blow thru set up, won't destroy the turbo seals and you will get more power. Add a boost circuit, a larger pipe section before the carb to help keep the turbo spooled up. Then combine the nitrous with the turbo 😁
The stock carb was never meant to work above atmospheric pressure, so the boost can actually fight the fuel from coming out properly. Need a way to increase fuel pressure proportional to the boost in order to do a blow through application. Simpler to do what they did
@@lvr1028 there are mods you can do to make it more efficient. For a little project like this, it's fine. If you're looking for tons of power then obviously fuel injection would be the way to go.
@@lvr1028 Its literally a BOX around the carb, with a hose going from that up to the fuel tank vent. Its not rocket science, it keeps it all the same equal pressure. Seems easier to do that than work with the extra pipe plumbing.
a small turbo bike is awesome, the VW air pump used to be a hilarious cheap supercharger with so.e tweaking. I'd love to see you guys play with the openefi kit.
@donut young auto tech/car enthusiast speaking here, at around 9 mins or so when yall realized it would take a load of pulls to get it started up for the first time a much simpler but less cool fix woulda been to start it up with an impact drill, I start my 212 like that a bunch coulda saved some time the video was a bit short anyways though so no complaints about dragging it out👍🏻
Thanks for another awesome Hi-Low series and all the work y'all do! I know it's not easy to keep up with the expenses and although I'm not a fan of all the wish videos etc you guys still work hard and I appreciate that.
You guys would be blown away if you knew the after market scene for those mini bikes. I have one that ive put about a grand into and it will do 80mph. Same motor, very similar frame to your donut bike. Check out OMB Warehouse, Studz Racing, or NR Racing. Cheers!
The answer to give when someone says they have nitros in their vehicle is, "Get a job." This is because a nitros system is cheap but when it is out, it actually slows the vehicle back down back to stock speeds. A turbo and supercharger are always connected and ready. They cost more. But they never run out until they break.
Next hi-low I’d love to see you guys do sport bikes, you’ve done off-road, time attack, fun track daily, and engine swapped drift cars, it’d be such a vibe to see James sitting on a crotch rocket

This was awesome but ditch the clutch and get a torque converter! Will make a huge difference! My Baja Warrior mini bike was stock about 20-22mph with the stock 6.5hp engine. I removed the governor and replaced the clutch with a torque converter and ram on average about 37mph with one time hitting 42mph. Keep making the great videos! Thanks!
I have laughed, cried, felt sorry for people, with things I have seen on you tube. But you guys are just a lot of laughs. What a way to go. I wish you well. Next you will be doing a Cannonball Run.
I'm convinced the carburetor is holding this bike back still. I'd bet your biggest gain vs stock or NOS was the fact that it's probably been de-governed after moving it, and I'd also bet you'd start making actual boost with an oversized Chinesium ATV carb (maybe for 300cc if this is a 212cc bike). Edit, now they've taken it all in a different direction anyway so this video is just a relic in time.

Love those v4 engines, sound is so unique
This thing goes 30 stock. I had this exact CT200U-EX and topped out at 30, and the way to do it, is to remove the throttle limiter screw on the throttle linkage. It limits like 30% of the bike's power. (I achieved 30mph after also partially disabling the governor, but aside from that, everything was 100% stock).
I’ve hit 45 miles with governor removed , header pipe and 40 tooth sprocket and I’m 280 pounds 😅
0:00 This seems like a terrible idea... I can't wait!
"You ain't got nuthin but time!"
The look on his face hearing that just reminded me of every time I've had to sacrifice sleep in the garage. We all know that look. 😂
I could watch just these 2 forever, gotta do another type of series with just jobe and Jeremiah PLEASE!
Good work guys.
Try putting a torque converter on it you may be able to harness more of the power. Made a massive difference on my 200cc drift trike.
Keep up the good work..
That gear is so awesome! You look straight up fresh buddy! 12:14
Those racing leathers are impeccable! The lightning really sets it off. Absolutely magnificent.
These two together is like watching the “Rockers” in the 80’s. 😂
You're laghing so much that it's easy to forget how complex it was putting this thing on the bike. Great craftsmanship guys.
i know working with big team is hard and sometimes people are strange and things get a little bit uncomfortable.
but.....
these videos are wholesome, fun and interesting
it is a win
jeremiah + jobe wrenching on vehicles = best donut videos
Would be cool to see you guys all buy the best old junk cars you can find and make a long ass trip. (Kinda top-gear style).
24 hours of lemon style, but instead it’s a cannonball run
First time I’ve ever given cash on the Tubes. Motorcycle content is so worth it!
Nice
Why lmao, they make enough
@@DwayneTheStoneJones jet engines ain't cheap
ive never seen a donation on a comment
@BackBlowerPete so you're telling me and the rest of whoever sees this comment, that donut doesn't deserve more money than they already make?
Im honestly impressed at how much of a difference this made.
I think this just proves that the Coleman bike is way tougher than it looks. To put up with modifications like this and keep running is impressive.
These colemans are incredibly tough. Mine makes about 18 horsepower and can hit 60 in just a few seconds
Hell yeah! Glad Jerry and the boys are getting to make some more motorcycle content!
I love these videos where donuts does these builds and tests. It just makes for some awesome unexpected moments.
Get rid of that clutch assembly and run a torque converter and you will run 45 on a stock motor. Lower rpms and more torque. Rides like a Polaris auto transmission atv. Love the content. Keep up the awesome videos.
Jobe should get his own series like he had before with the Miata. Miss that a lot! And he deserves it
You guys are nothing short of amazing! This was a fun video beginning to end. Thanks for keeping things entertaining and informative!
Could have even upgraded the fuel needals and increased the size of the fuel line diameter to improve fuel delivery
The thought that it even worked is amazing. That really took serious knowledge and skill.
AMAZING, i love content like this on motorcycles, you should do more stuff like this, motorcycle modding is very rare on youtube
The audio track and edit on this video is outstanding! Someone changed.
And Zach and Jeremiah are legit.
This is one of the best donut episodes ever
a small turbo bike is awesome, the VW air pump used to be a hilarious cheap supercharger with so.e tweaking.
I'd love to see you guys play with the openefi kit.
love seeing engineers and mechanics working together to produce a glorious end product
I love these "Jerry and Jobe's engineering antics" videos.
@donut young auto tech/car enthusiast speaking here, at around 9 mins or so when yall realized it would take a load of pulls to get it started up for the first time a much simpler but less cool fix woulda been to start it up with an impact drill, I start my 212 like that a bunch coulda saved some time the video was a bit short anyways though so no complaints about dragging it out👍🏻
Would love to see more motorcycle content
I love the synergy between Jeremiah And Zack !
Thanks for another awesome Hi-Low series and all the work y'all do! I know it's not easy to keep up with the expenses and although I'm not a fan of all the wish videos etc you guys still work hard and I appreciate that.
Out there doing that science that mankind needs.
i been waiting for this video for so long ever since the wish video came out. check donut everyday for new content. these guys deserve a tv show !
Keep all the motorbike content coming!
Keep up the motorcycle content!!
Brilliantly conceived and executed. Deserves an award
You guys would be blown away if you knew the after market scene for those mini bikes. I have one that ive put about a grand into and it will do 80mph. Same motor, very similar frame to your donut bike. Check out OMB Warehouse, Studz Racing, or NR Racing. Cheers!
Definitely need to throw a torque converter on there and see the gains it delivers
this is the absolute next mod they need to do. i can almost garuntee they will hit 60 mph on that thing with a torque converter.
@@jeffshoultattoo5247 agreed... and hit the nos...
Throwing a different cvt/torque converter on this setup would actually go a long way
that and a V twin Kohler and it would be fast
The answer to give when someone says they have nitros in their vehicle is, "Get a job." This is because a nitros system is cheap but when it is out, it actually slows the vehicle back down back to stock speeds. A turbo and supercharger are always connected and ready. They cost more. But they never run out until they break.
Love these two dudes! ME WANT MORE, PLEASE MAKE MORE, ME WILL BE HAPPY, THANKS
so fun to watch you guys. and the ad for the "cars are pain" merch is amazing. Showed it to my wife. She told me it´s very sweet.
Look ma' I'm on TV! 7:50
I love that the entire garage/office was there for the start up
Next hi-low I’d love to see you guys do sport bikes, you’ve done off-road, time attack, fun track daily, and engine swapped drift cars, it’d be such a vibe to see James sitting on a crotch rocket
sport bikes would be crazy
ill shit myself if donut ever does real sport bike content
Thought this was a reupload but they did it with nos the first time.
Dear video editor,
No matter how bored I get of these donut media episodes that blow series, I would like to show my gratitude for your sense of humor and ability to put your touch. It started nonchalant and really got me geekin' but now you can kinda tell it's being paid for. Be it positive feedback. Just for memes. What have you... Good entertainment either way.
I especially appreciate the add timer so skipping that mf is quicker.
Thank you for your service Mr video editor.
The ad timer is awesome - I am so much more likely to watch an ad if I can see that it's only got 20s left.
Wow!
A turbo on a bike and a super cool Donut bike suit!
Hell yeah, this is the kind of stuff I'm here for, and best of all with my two fav hosts, great job!
Donut had a great run. One of the best
The oil reservoir zip tied on and inches from the road is classic.
Jeri and Jobe are a great ep duo, mad scientist Jeri and Jobe the slick technician
Aw yiss this is much more Donut level of car stuff
bruh the graduation song killed me hahaha
The post outhouse dance was fantastic man!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks!
Let's..... talk👆👆
I have laughed, cried, felt sorry for people, with things I have seen on you tube.
But you guys are just a lot of laughs. What a way to go. I wish you well. Next you will be doing a Cannonball Run.
Torque converter would make it FLY. I got my coleman to 55 with just a stage 1 kit and torque converter
That carb is a motorcycle carb, the stock one was a normal Honda gx160/200 type. That carb is huge for a stock motor with a tiny amount of boost.
I'm sure that the farther the carb is, the better air/ fuel mix enters the engine with or without turbo
