the factory replacement window is $300 and comes with an attachment for the defogging function that looks pretty simple. Also it comes with an installation kit then the glue Etc, just fyi, if you don't want to do it from scratch like this gentleman
My daughter and I just converted a 2011 Mercedes Sprinter into a camper. We purchased two rear windows but did not receive the adhesive or primer. Which urethane and primer do you recommend and where can they be purchased? Thanks so much for your video. Great job.
Looks excellent. You mentioned the word "client," does that mean you do this professionally? If so, could you ball park how an install like this would cost? Thanks for the awesome video!
Nice video. Thanks for posting. One question though: instead of marking the perimeter with a punch, why not just cut from the inside of the door and use the lip of the sheet metal stamping as your guide?
The type of cutter he is using works best on a flat surface. The tool basically has to feet (or shoes) on either side of the center cutting tooth. The tool works best when these two feet are sitting on the same plane. Hence cutting on the "outside".
Thanks for the great video. Very good job. Edit: Well...I got them installed. You make it look easier than it actually was. My adhesive didn't flow from the tube, so I had to soak the tube in hot water for about 15 minutes. You said the primer needed to set for 10 minutes, but mine had to wait about 30 minutes. I hope that is okay. It got dark on me, so I struggled with a flashlight. I had to wait until the next day to install the second window. I cleaned and reprimed the van before installing it. I have a pair of side windows to install too, but the supplier didn't send enough rubber trim strip & adhesive, so I'm waiting for more to arrive to install them. I was wondering how to redo the job in case I didn't get a waterproof seal? (Hopefully, that's not something I'll need to find out!)
I didn't hear you say where you got the glass from. It has a bow in it on the outer edge so that tells me that it must be custom made to fit. Is that the case here or not ? Thanks if you answer back.
Im buying a Promaster City Van by RAM, I want to put rear door and sliding door windows in...Who would I go to to have installation done. Auto Repair shop, RV shop ? Im guessing Ill be able to get the parts from a Dodge dealer or on line from MOPAR. Im scared what it will cost...but it needs to be done
Thanks for sharing Howard. You are a stickler for detail which makes you a real craftsman. Id be happy for you to work on my vehicle.
Its good to watch a guy who knows what he is doing.
Thank you for this video. It is the most helpful I found for my own installation.
This worked like a charm, thank you!
Great install, might be a bit late in asking (4 years ago), but where did part 2 end up?
