Michael Block could end up being the sports athlete of the year
👍
As long as Caitlyn Jenner doesn't do anything extraordinary......
Nice
👍
Good
Literally a tin cup moment. Doesn’t matter who wins the tourney. They’ll ALWAYS remember this shot!!!
amen!!!
A UNICORN flying ace! 🙌Bro couldn't celebrate until he ruled-out Ashton Kutcher on-scene. What a humble dude. Congrats, Michael Block!
I bet dude is on cloud nine
So many of us supporting him. What an Ace!
a fly hole in one is absolutely nuts in this type of environment.
HOPEFULLY Michael can continue the success and even finish higher in one of the next two PGA tournaments he's competing in. He might get more exemptions if he continues to play well cause he will create a huge following IF he does. Everyone loves pulling for the underdog. OBVIOUSLY he's not going to have a career cause he don't want it. It would be so cool to follow him if he has more success. TOYAL underdog. He basically plays in the minor leagues of golf. You are NOT supposed to compete at this level. He's the ROCKY of the PGA, and he got a knockout with that Hole in One on Sunday. A golf moment i will NEVER forget, SO EXCITING to watch. The fans went DAMN BONKERS, BERSERK, MAD on the whole walk up to the green. It was truly amazing 😋
❤ Michael is a reminder of what’s missing not only in professional golf, be it the PGA or LIV but in every professional sport with his authenticity, love of the game and the fun factor, not only for himself but for the fans. A real breath of fresh air that we were so fortunate to witness and remind us of why we really play the game because it’s not because of the $$$. My opinion of way LIV golf will never make it and the PGA better be careful to not follow with limited fields because diamonds in the rough will never get an opportunity to shine like it did in the past 4 days ❤
Einstein said GOD DOES NOT PLAY DICE - but obviously GOD DOES PLAY GOLF! ⛳️ 😂
Just for clarification:
Golfball: 1.68 inches diameter
Hole: 4.25 inches diameter.
Add to that there is a flag in the center. And it's been hit from over 100 yards away.
That’s as close to the Tin Cup magic we hope for. 😮
I did this in the PGA video game a few weeks ago and was just explaining to my wife how unrealistic it was. 😳🤣
It’ll be a good movie.
"And the stroke is just so PGA"
a fly hole in one is absolutely nuts in this type of environment.
Absolutely unreal. That kind of crowd pop is one of the many meanings in life.
It’s nuts period homie
I'm not great but I'm not bad but I get nervous when people are waiting on me
First one in almost three years and it’s a dunk.
Onions
An ace is rare enough, and a fly in ace is crazy rare, but a fly in ace in that moment by that man was just so amazingly improbable and yet it happened. Hes a legend now.
Not to mention, that took him back to even par
Can you fathom Rory ten feet from you and you're trying to tee off with the world watching you at the same time and you fucking dunk a oney, insane.
Does he still have to buy 🍻🥃 at the clubhouse?
@@nicholasduncan5842 and if he hadn’t of made that he wouldn’t of made the top 15 to get invited next year!
@@robsimpson6537 this guys drinks are forever free at that clubhouse
This dude is an absolute legend
Can't wait to shower with him
he`s playing in the next event in texas.
Three 70’s and a 71. Including the ACE. Saw him hit driver off the deck on Saturday from some 240 and got it on. Guys got talent for sure. What a great story.
@@patbingham9689 he can get it up and down from the freakin parking lot is what it is.
His weekend will live as one of the greatest in the history of the game!
I mean, what a story this dude just created. Whoever wins this tournament will be irrelevant compared to this guy
No it won’t a LIV player winning is marvellous 😂
It wouldn’t matter if Tiger won this event, he’s taking a backseat to Michael Block this time.
Yeah 5 time major winner brooks is far from irrelevant
😂 what a stupid comment
It's like the end of Tin Cup. Block didn't win, but what he did was immortal
This is the most spectacular thing in golf I've seen in my lifetime, I give credit to Rory for just respecting all of it
Love how Rory just gets out of the way and let's golfers enjoy their walk up moments. He wants non of the attention
I think the biggest Michael Block fan on earth is now Rory McIlroy. Coolest thing ive seen all season
I was there with my Father, both of our first ever PGA event, and no kidding found a spot and stood on a hill perfectly even with the 15th green 10 minutes before Rory and Michael came off the 14th green. We couldn't see the tee box perfectly but my Dad said "It's in the air!" and I seriously focused on the cup expecting to see the ball drop in my periphery and watched it fall directly into the cup! I have never experienced a moment like that in my life, gives me chills! Being there with my Father to witness that and to hear the roar, truly epic!
@@matthews9822damn that sounds like an amazing time! Always remember that epic moment with your Dad! 🥳
@@andrewgordon790 thank you, it really was! Something I will never forget!
that moment at 1:03 when he looks back at his caddie and actually starts to cry a little. he literally forced himself to not believe what everyone else was telling him including Rory twice what had happened. then the realization that it was no joke and it was the best moment of his life being filmed and lived in real time!
then seeing him break down when he heard that his son said it was the best day of his son's life was the icing on the cake. he deserves all of this and cant wait to see him in the future!!
can you imagine seeing your dad do THIS???
No roll no bounce no nothing just straight in the hole, amazing.
I think we will never see that again, ever, the odds are one million to one...
just like me with my gf
Rory's genuine excitement... "Did that just go in?" and "It went straight in the hole!" shows his love of the game and respect for a phenominal shot by a competitor... And Block's disbelief after the third time asking if it went in and then pausing... these are now my two favorite golfers to root for. Both are in it for the right reasons.
they both r in it for the money....period rory is a pga simp and couldn't even beat two of the LIV players, he is the joke of the pga so you go ahead and root for the biggest golfing hypocrite therre is
Rory was a class act all day I gained a lot of respect for him he is one of us not just a robot celebrity.
Honestly, I couldn’t have said it better. Michael Block and Rory McIlroy showed what golf is all about, two incredible class acts, and two guys who obviously love golf for all the right reasons. God bless them both!
You're going to get a he'll of alot of likes for years for your comment .
In an interview I just read, Block said that McIlroy came right up to him and said it went in, and he had to say it five times before he believed it. Great interview. Dude is humble af. I'm now a fan!
That hole in one was worth over $100,000. And an auto-qualify for next year's PGA.
And sponsored to play in next week's tournament 👌
Actually it was worth 288 grand
@@JB-jf3ke It was worth just over 100 grand. If he would've scored a par he would make roughly 165k instead of 288k
@@JB-jf3ke No. The difference between the 288 grand he got and the >$100K less he would've gotten two shots further back.
Full credit to the announcers for not saying anything and just letting us experience that incredible roar as he made his way to the cup
Jim Nance with another brilliant timed call. "A fairytale story. Get's better!"
jim nantz being jim nantz
The fact that this ace helped him qualify for next year is kinda crazy. Without this AND his scramble on 18, he's back to qualifiers. But, here we are. What a frickin legend.
not to mention, how much $$ he earned on that ace, moving up the board
The scramble on 18 was actually better golf.
I’m at the tournament the entire place went absolutely nuts
@@awprc a dub? Lmfao dude
@@awprcI was at the tournament, I was actually the only one there
I was there at Oak Hill the year Dufner hit his second shot into the hole on a par 4. Hole 2 I think. The roar went through the entire course. Everyone knew something big happened. He went on to win the tournament. He was peppering the flag all week with his irons.
I was on the same planet that this tournament was being played on. I heard a solid reaction.
@@awprc Same, in fact everyone was booing. Shame they lied for TV
This dude just became so many people's favorite. Changed his life entirely in one weekend. He gives all of us hope that it's never too late to have a chance to play on tour
He gave me hope that success, and winning the battle he won, can translate to everyday battles for us all. He was very resilient.
Can you imagine being on a nearby hole and hearing that roar?
Goosebumps!
Just when you thought his story couldn't get any better
Better than most moments
One of the great moments for the game of golf in a long time.
This dude literally just had the greatest moment of his life … he even said so in the interview he knows it we all know it and good for him seems like a good dude can’t wait to see him play next year!
He just got a sponsors exemption into next week!!
ok
ok
ok
This is genuinely the coolest thing I’ve ever seen watching golf. Not even a question. And he’ll be back next year!!
That was one of the greatest moments in sports history now. Wow!
Amen
It really was. No exaggeration. I've been watching sports for over 60 years. Loudest roar I ever heard. What an ecstatic moment for him and for all of us. A simple hole in one would have been a bomb but the slam dunk was atomic. Theree was no way he was getting top ten and a return next year without a miracle and he got it.
@@bigalexg Football games get waaaay louder when something historic happens.
@@bumblebootwiddletoes5185 True, of course, should have specified golf course. The quietness and then that explosive roar was perhaps the greatest contrast I ever heard but stadium sports in a closed dome certainly take the absolute decibel crown.
My god the pop he got from that crowd. Must've shook the ground...I wouldn't have been able to hold back tears if I were him there.
You can see him struggling to keep it together when he gets with his caddy halfway to the green. I also have no idea how he managed to do that.
My favourite part of the whole video - a normally genteel and polite golf crowd going absolutely NUTS
Rory has been open that’s he never very social with playing partners in a major because he’s focused on the task at hand which I respect. However, Rory showing hype and support for this man during the final round and breaking his norms has my greatest respect.
loved it when someone from the gallery yelled..."we love you too Rory". thats was great stuff.
One of the all time greatest feel good moments in golf, so happy for Michael Block!
Michael Block, you are a legend! That hole-in-one at the 15th during the final round of the 2023 PGA Championship was pure magic. Your fairytale journey continues to inspire us all. The PGA Championship always brings out the best in golf, and your incredible shot is now etched in its rich history. Congratulations on this remarkable achievement! The Wanamaker Trophy has seen some legendary names, and now yours shines alongside them. Keep shining, Michael, and may your golfing journey be filled with more incredible moments like this. ⛳🏆
A Hole in One is amazing by itself, but a Hole in One hitting nothing but the bottom of the cup, that is Legendary......
Legend! He is just living the dream right now! All the kudos and hats off to this man! He is the highlight of PGA championship 2023!
That, and LIV kicked some pga arse!
Michael Block should join the tour. This tournament had a little bit of everything but this ace on the fly was the most incredible moment in golf I've ever seen. Love the underdog!
You cannot write a better script . Simply amazing. Michael Block could end up being the sports athlete of the year . At least best performance. He has my nomination.
Definitely an ESPY nominee for Play of the Year.
He deserves it, he did something that will never be done again..
Rory knows the difference between a "hole-in-one" cheer and "great shot" cheer. That's why he knew it immediately, but Block was in disbelief at first.
CBS should be cutting him a check for making their broadcast better! 🤑
Imagine being paired up with Rory as a club pro and then getting an ace
Yeah some companies going to be making $
The best was he was so nervous when they told him in the morning and then he gets a hole in one!
I enjoyed his story way more than Koepka’s
Cry harder lol
LIV *abused* the pga today! 😂🤣
Amazing shot totally well deserved from a very humble professional golfer 👏 👏👏 best of luck for the future Michael
Michael Block was sensational and the highlight of this tournament. 👏 Hats off to a Humble PGA Club Pro. Well done. See u next your @ Valhalla
this may be one of the most legendary performances of all time. unbelievable really. straight out of a movie.
Heck as an ex club pro...I'm crying.....so cool!!⛳⛳🏌️🏌️
Watching this guy totally trying to brush off all the attention as the fans cheer “BLOCK! BLOCK! BLOCK!” is incredible. What a guy
He's gotta...focusing on his game only...
A very humble man, wish him the very best.
Just a tip of the cap. No over the top celebration. Old school class.
I was on the 18th fairway when this happened, so it was maybe 75 yards behind me (about the end of the tent line on the rt side). The roar rivaled any football crowd I've been in. I'm from Boston, so no Homer here, but I think it was the most fun atmosphere I've ever been in. This Pats and Bs fan now has HUGE respect for Western NY. Great job Rochester/Buffalo!!!
How can you not love an underdog? A humble one at that. Congratulations!
The entire golf community cheering for Mr Block 🎉 Legend
One of the Greatest Shots that anyone will ever witness.
A slam dunk hole in one in a major on a Sunday! It’s something we may never see again. Incredible!
Legend before our eyes. Such a character. Why’s Rory hugging me? Did it go in? Living in a dream. Signed card for camera. Interviewed while playing. Sunk par on 18. Cried when his sick son sent video. Loved it all.
I've been watching golf since about 95. This shot and moment is up there with the best I've ever seen! He went from a legend to a god in about 6 seconds
Arguably one of the greatest shots in the history of the game with his story, this was madness of him to finish this way!!
A dunk hole in one is the most insanely difficult thing in sports history.
The crowd cheer is so epic! Amazing shot!
That will live on in my hometown forever. It's an honor to host the PGA Championship here in Rochester for the fourth time. What a tournament!
what is nice about this clip is you have a $20,000,000 golfer, Rory, going up to him, and conversing with him. That is real class. We need more Michael Blcok's on the Tour.
Craziest dunk I’ve seen on the course! Outstanding tournament, Block 🏆👏🏾⛳️
Waw, just imagine: working 9 to 5 at the office, then one day getting paired with Rory and during the round getting a high five from him
Imagine getting a hole in one and having Rory give you a big hug.
He’s not an amateur he’s a club pro, he’s head professional of a course
@@TheLocalLt I didn't say he's an amateur. But he does office work as well, he doesn't only teach on a course
@@gyrogerg fair enough
The man is now forever a folk hero! Amazing ❤
Hot take:
If you rewatch it right from the start he had his eyes closed the whole time,...
Incredible! Never heard of anyone doing this in my life
So much had to go right for him. And the clutch shot on 18 was the icing on the cake! So glad I was able to watch this live!!
This dude just had one of the best weeks ever. Like between everybody of all time, this has to be at least top 10. Congrats man, welcome to the PGA
As a fan of every sport, when it comes to a single play/shot/throw, a hole in one is by far the hardest and most insane “play” and we got to witness one.
The hole in one is rare of course. THIS hole in one was even more rare because it didn't bounce, it didn't roll, it was hit off the tee and went straight into the cup.
hm missed cut really missed
Jim Nantz didn’t have much excitement calling the hole in one, but I truly think it was because he couldn’t believe what he just witnessed. Best hole in one ever in golf! Congrats Michael!
It's because Nantz already knew. CBS was in a commercial when this happened. It's on about a 3 minute delay
I’ve never seen this before… has this happened before!?! 🤯 ⛳️
I watched this in person and couldn’t even believe it, it’s like my brain wouldn’t accept it
That ranks up there with the 102 foot put from the Golden Bear.
Or Jack’s one iron at Pebble.
Give this man his Tour Card right now. He is exactly the type of player the tour needs!
This is one of those shots you don't see. The precision of where it landed in the cup will likely not be seen again. If you look closely it landed so perfectly that the flag stick didn't move😳
He swished it lol
I don't think we will ever see this again, the odds of this happening again has to be a million to one!!!
More Slam Dunked.
One millimeter to the left and it could have clanked off the flag.
One millimeter to the right and it could have lipped out.
Amazing.
His reaction is already one of my favorite moments in sports history.
What a pro. One of his first reactions to seeing the hole was that someone should fix it. Legend.
Sensational. And McIlroy’s response only added to it. He was genuinely thrilled for a fellow competitor to nail it like that. There a quite a few well paid pros who could learn a lot from how he plays the game. Well done Block, well done McIlroy.
Block qualifying and finishing top 15 alone would be a nice anecdote in golf history that would potentially get glossed over but this shot? Truly one of the greatest golf shots ever that won’t be forgotten.
This PGA Championship is a Block Party🎉
I watched it live and couldn't believe what I just saw. unbelievable.... people were going crazy and some people just crying because it was such a emotional part of the guys story. awesome 👏
How incredible is this???!?
Blocks legend will be told in Rochester for years.
This is such a good news story and just what golf needed right now to get everyone back on track, this guys the real deal :)
Plastic, superficial personalities of the current PGA leaders (including Tiger) you are entirely correct...🧐
Who needs Tiger Woods to have the gallery go nuts!! Great job Mr. Block.
Tiger who? Step up Mr. Block, you are in the spot light now, a pleasure to see a humble man....
🤵🏼💪🏻👑 CHAMPION🥇🔥HOT HANDSOME TALENT 🏆✨🌟
You could probably hear that roar from the crowd in Syracuse! Incredible stuff. So happy for Michael Block and his whole family. He gets to wake up every day knowing that he hit the most insane shot in all of golf history bar none.
That’s what you call the peoples champion right there. Amazing! Never forget where I was when that happened
I watched that on my DVR about 10 times and the last putt about 20 times. Truly amazing. Bravo sir
Did you pick up your cellular phone and texted messaged your buddies about it?
Best part, other than the hole in one, is how Rory came right up to him like he's known him on tour for years.
I love how he just took the hug from Rory without even actually knowing it went in... just accepting the love of what he thought was just a tight shot. Lol
This story got better and better each round then to have this happen followed by a stupid difficult up and down at 18 to save par and seal your ticket to next years PGA, it's not supposed to happen, 999 out of 1000 times the player would fall apart but Block gained Legend status by being that 1 and doing it in a major. I was there Thursday all day and wish I watched him play if just for a hole but at that time Block was just a name among others that I never heard of before, but today I don't think I will ever forget his name. Well Done and can't wait to see what you do next year!
Great job Mr. Block. The best and most inspiring shot I have ever witnessed
A total 'Roy McAvoy' moment like "Tin Cup"!!!
This is what I love about golf. These men are out here competing at the highest level but still stop and admire each other's shots, congratulate each other and are genuinely happy when the other does something spectacular. I can't think of any other sport where this happens.
100 years from now in Rochester: Legend has it that if you sit quiet enough, you can still hear the crowd roaring from the golfcourse.
My son was on the 18th fairway..maybe 60-100 yards away..said it sounded like a 787 taking off...
I just love that he didn’t believe it and asked the crowd for the answer..
this is one of those moments that will go down in sporting history
That crowd reaction is awesome.
The crowd reaction says it all. Let's gooooo! That's WILD
Wow what a shot that’s amazing!
What a story
