      That’s a good attitude to have about that. If it helps there are breathing exercises called 4-7-8 that help us be a little more calm. You can look them up & find a them easily. Calm App also has them.
      There’s also book called The Confident Mind by Nate Zinsser that’s really helpful.
      Good luck to you, praying for you.

    Humor is extremely important in seeing us through the truly rough patches in life. You may find yourself in truly dire circumstances where the only thing you have is a sense of humor to lighten the situation and give you a beacon of hope through the situation. Humor can indeed increase resilience in bleak or trying circumstances.
    Humor is essential!

    I absolutely love this speech! It is my impression that most of our upbringing has to do with getting kids to be more serious, so we then have serious adults. Kids are masters at finding funny moments everyday: they either do something funny, or they laugh and that also makes us, adults, laugh. When we slow down, we can observe the absurdity and the fun in life. There is no doubt in my mind that laughter is such a powerful remedy for life's ups and downs. Laughter is therapeutic and when we giggle with people around us, it helps us relax and feel more connected. This is also one of the reasons so many people like watching comedies. My main takeaway from this is that I am going to try to direct my own life in such a way that it becomes a comedy rather than a tragedy. Thank you so much for these great tips Paul!

    I absolutely agree with Paul’s theory. 20 years ago, I was super stressed at my freelance design job when everything that could go wrong went wrong. With the tight deadline of 3 pm that day, everyone working on the project stopped functioning like they normally would. For reasons I still don’t understand till today. I blurted out laughingly, “Don’t panic! It’s only a crisis”. All of a sudden, everyone just blasted out laughing and everyone just resumed normal. I think that comment somehow put the situation in perspective. No one dies as a result of the missed deadline. Miraculously, all worked out fine in the end and we made deadline.

    I was in Walmart the other day and a cheerful fellow approached me saying "You look like you could use better internet service!" To which I smiled and said back "Oh, not me - I'm getting a divorce, won't even have a house soon" It made me feel good, and I'm sure it was something he was able to share and laugh about.

    The problem is that I've never had much of a sense of humor as a kid either . Whatever semblance of a sense of humor I do have is dry , dead pan and easily missed by 99% of the population . . For example ,"Those might be useful exercises for taking myself less seriously and I'll add it to the bottom of my to do list." !

    • @paulosincup
      @paulosincup 6 месяцев назад +3

      The bottom of the to do list 😂 I love it! That’s great humor. Just like exercising more often is good for you, but doesn’t mean your body will look exactly the same as someone else’s, exercising your humor muscle is good for you & your sense of humor will still be your own unique brand of funny. 💪 😉
