      Hey Roxanne,..
I was in your shoes years ago. But, their was something that was holding me back.
Ex- marriage , living in sin,
      Etc. and so on.
But, something hit me and I went in front of the statue of the Blessed Mother late at night and told her to,..
      " HELP ME "
Believe me when I tell you ,SHE DID !!
      My life hit ROCK BOTTOM.
But,..going back to confession, believe me I feel WONDERFUL when i go.
I go every week but, I try to confess my past. Things in my youth,..
Then next several weeks I'll confess, things in my young adolescent day,..
And now I confess things I do as I'm old.
I feel so comfortable talking FACE TO FACE !
      Nothing to be ashamed about.
Priest I knew said, we too sin,..
Once I started going, I got more comfortable.
      So please, DON'T WORRY!
      DON'T BE AFRAID !

Defender of The Catholic Faith Peter Augustine dude...why not explain to those disagree with this sacramental practice using biblical verse(s)? You do a disservice to Catholics by scorning others with self-righteous rants.
You can do it. Find where Jesus says whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven. It is Jesus who gave the authority to the apostles to forgive and not forgive.
If you caannot find the verses, then watch Catholic Answer.

Thank you for sharing this. I've been Catholic for 9 months now and I really do love confession. Sometimes it's a little hard to get started on it but I love my priest's compassion, and receiving absolution. Hearing that I'm forgiven makes a big difference. Before I was Catholic and could go to confession, I had a hard time believing that God forgave me, and I felt guilty about that, which only compounded things! This rite is beautiful for so many reasons.

Love your point about some things we might not even think of as sins, I love doing an in depth examination of conscience and it always brings things to light I might forget or not think of right away. Every I go to confessional room I always feel renewed after confessing my sins because I was able to express my venial sins. I'm preparing for confession tomorrow, after a long absence. After a man testified that ex-Cardinal McCarrick sexually abused him for years starting when he was 11, including during confession, it dented my faith in the sacrament and I was left reeling in shock - for months. When I moved countries... coming to United States to be specific I found it so scary to confess in English.
I remember my first time clearly...
    - Praised be Jesus Christ (that’s how we usually begin in Poland, it’s kind)
    - Now and forever Amen
    - Excuse my language father...
and the poor man thought that I went straight to my sins so he kindly asked whether I had been baptized. :D we had quite some laugh.

I was baptized and raised Catholic. My siblings and I went to Catholic school and I love my faith. I try to be a good person and although I don't go to church every Sunday, I have recently started to pray the rosary daily. I have NEVER felt comfortable confessing my sins to a priest. The way I see it, why should I have to confess my sins to a priest when I can just go straight to God and ask for his forgiveness.

"If you think you've got hell inside you, go to confession, confession evicts hell." (Fr. Corapi)
Most catholics do not believe The Real Presence and receive Our Lord unworthily. We've been poorly catechized.

Great video! Confession is awesome. Just one detail...
"The priest will say, go in peace by the power of the Holy Spirit..."
Actually, you want to be sure your priest prays, "I absolve you from your sins, in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit." It would be nice if all priests prayed the entire prayer of absolution, which is beautiful, but it's important that he says those last words.
    Peace.
    (prayer of absolution, FYI...)
God, the Father of Mercies, through the death and resurrection of His Son, has reconciled the world to Himself and sent the Holy Spirit among us for the forgiveness of sins. Through the ministry of the church, may God grant you pardon and peace, and I absolve you of your sins, in the Name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

This is the one thing i never understood about Catholics, and i don't think i ever will 100% believe in. Why not go directly to God and tell him your sins? Why the need to go through the priest? When i tell my sins, it's to God. I pray, ask him to forgive me, tell him my sins, say i'm sorry and i love him and didn't mean to hurt him/offend him, etc Jesus died because i was a sinner, God knows this and STILL loves me and accepts me regardless. My sins are between me and God. And i don't have to fear going to hell because of that. Jesus died so i could go to heaven despite my sinful nature..

    • @rubenguzman5732
      @rubenguzman5732 6 лет назад +3

Nichole you know how jesus sent out his apostles to spread his word, cast out demons and FORGIVE sins? Well when Jesus died he didnt leave the bible he left his church which is a GIFT, remember it was the catholic church which compiled the bible but you think you know it better than the very institution that made it with the help and holy spirit? All priests today have a direct line of authority by previous priests all the way back to Jesus to FORGIVE your sins, bless you, and turn bread into the flesh of Christ (the most important part of church)
I do not have the time to look it up since im on my phone but when Jesus said eat this bread for it is my flesh and blood THE LAST DAY before he died it was not a metaphor or a symbol, he repeated himself when asked by his disciples if he was serious and said you only have eternal life by eating his flesh (the bread) which only Catholic priests have direct authority to do, i suggest you look up Father Mike Schmitz hes a really funny and likeable Catholic that really knows how to explain the Faith but for that video its literally called "Fr. Mike Schmitz this hour will change your life" i promise you, you will become Catholic after that and the reason im typing all this out is not to prove people wrong i just want to help them like someone helped me when i needed it
Thanks and may God bless you
Edit: of course you should always pray and repent of your sins to god but like i said the Eucharist is the most important part which only Catholic priests can do, i didnt know the significance of it but i still wanted to do my first communion after lots of praying and asking god to guide me to him, then after a while i found that video by Fr. Mike Schmitz and i knew god was answering my prayers

Ruben's explanation was very good. I just wanted to add...as a convert, confession has been the one part of the faith that I had not wanted to accept. I felt the same as you...I can talk straight to God, I didn't need anybody between us because God already knows my sins. It's not necessary for me to list them out for him. But, going to confession cleanses your soul & it kinda feels like your mouth does after you've been to the dentist for a cleaning. You know that feeling when you leave that you don't want to get them dirty & gunky again so you vow to do better. Go often & you may find you sin less & less!

Around 1955 a priest was made a bishop.
    His secretary/driver/assistant told him
20 miles from here in a village you have a priest who goes to the saloon every Friday nite and starts bad mouthing the church and the pope, it’s a scandal.
So Friday comes and the new bishop tells his secretary to drive him to the village.
They get there and go to the saloon.
The bishop tells the secretary go in and see if he is in there.
Sure enuf the secretary goes in and finds the priest in the saloon talking crazy talk.
He tells him the bishop is outside and would like a word with you.
So the priest goes out and is surprised to see the new bishop.
They drive to the priest house a few blocks away. The bishop tells the driver
Wait here, me and the priest are going inside to have a word.
The two go in and the bishop sees a chair
He tells the priest to have a seat.
The Bishop kneels down and says I would like to make my confession.
When he gets done the priest absolves him of his sins.
The bishop stands up and says
    “Never forget who you are.”
And he leaves. The priest never went back to the saloon again.

I’ve a question about confession. I do see the point about going to confession to clean your Sin away. But what about for those whom are enlightened about our sin but still choose to live in sin after confession. For instance someone whom married in church knew that it’s a sin to divorce their husband and remarried to another person and is living with that husband knowing fully that’s sin. I think in this situation the sin is not completely rinse. What would you or any brothers and sisters in Christ think about this please advise. Thank you.

It would be a sin if you keep having sexual relations with them. It would also be near occasion of sin to be in situations where you're tempted to have sexual relations with them.

    • @mpkropf5062

The Catholic Church would consider that person is still living in adultery according to the RCIA teachings and unable to receive the Eucharist. Unless it was annulled, they don’t count the second marriage legit. Jesus forgives if we repent, but repentance means we stop living in the sin or it’s not true repentance!

I'm just wondering can you reflect on your sins before confession and write them all down and bring them in with you to confession so you don't forget anything?

It is not advised if you forget something that’s ok. God knows. What’s most important is your examination of conscience, as long as you’re not doing anything on purpose it is not necessary to bring anything written down

Please let me ask you this question. If you do not have any moral sense, do you still need to go to confession? Specially? The reason I'm asking this back when I was in junior high. My grandparents came out for a visit and I shook the table in. See hot coffee actually if I generally cut it on to her and here. I'm, I'm 68. Is it necessary to say that when it's not a moral thing

You must go to confession if you have committed a mortal sin. You cannot pray for other people or the dead if you are not in a state of grace.

Very good Video, I am a priest, The priest is there to help you, not judge you. When we step into sin, we turn our back on Christ, He is always standing there with his outstretch hand for us to turn back too him and he forgives us our sins Thru the Sacrament of confession. Christ has given the priest the power to forgive sin. Once you have done that a great burden has been lifted from you. The priest through the seal can not tell anyone else, not another priest, his Bishop, or the Pope. If he see you outside of confession, he can not even say how is that little problem working out too you. He would be breaking the seal of confession. To be honest with you all the confession run together and he does not remember who said what. Don't think you were the first to commit a sin, he has heard them all before. He mite counsel you on how to avoid a sin, he is not judging you , he is there too help you.

You said that after Confession, one is a Saint and would go straight to heaven in the case of imminent death. That is not really the case. While ALL sins are forgiven, the "penalty" we have to endure for our sins is not. For that, Holy Mother Church offers indulgences. To really be a Saint and get straight to heaven, you have to get a plenary indulgence. The Enchiridion indulgentiarum has a list of works of mercy (certain prayers and actions) that can grant you a plenary or partial indulgence, if you go to Confession, detach yourself from all inclinations from sin, receive Holy Eucharist, pray in the intention of the Holy Father (e. g. an Our Father or a Hail Mary), and do the prescribed work of mercy. If you don't get an indulgence, you will most likely end up in purgatory where we get cleaned from the consequences of our sins (even though they are forgiven).
For example, if your child smashed a vase, and later apologized for that, you will forgive him/her, but that won't make the vase whole again. This is a problem, and that is the same problem with sin. It has consequences, and those need to be dealt with before we can enter heaven.

I tried trust or all the priests. A one time, I had a bad experience. It was one, please. That scolded me.
Just because it was the same sin a week go.
I felt all of these here to say least. You just said try to work on it and not do it again. Because one of the mic on RUclips says it's a good thing when you have the same sin.But not then you get a whole bunch of new sense

You need to talk directly to a priest though you can be behind a screen or in a confessional so you will be anonymous. Face-to-face is often an option too.

I don't take Holy Communion 'cause I can't receive a proper confession. I experienced with 3 different priests and each one of them stood up and walked away, while I was confessing and then turned around with a scowl on their face and said that is not a confession. It beggars the question how did they become priests; no soothing words of God's Wisdom. The church has failed us morally and spiritually. I am dismayed what I see and hear in the church. The sermon is criticising the West and also Israel....what????. I still attend Mass and have recently started the Rosary daily. Until such time I find a good priest. I won't take Communion. Everything seems watered down and there is little respect and substance. We should be Christian Warriors

I am sorry to hear your experience with all those priest, I recommend trying a different priest... Weather the priests are good or not it is just as valid as Christ himself is absolving you! Jesus can't wait to be with you in the eucharist! Don't let Satan discourage you from going to confession! And of course praying for those priests!

  • @colywogable

It says in the bible to trust in God, but it doesn't say that it's a sin when we are afraid to sometimes. Questioning God is a big part of faith! The priest shouldn't have been rude about it. But I think that his point, rather, was that there is not one Catholic on the planet who trusts in God at all times. If it is a habitual lack of trust that is shaping your life, then it might be the sin of pride (trusting in yourself rather than in God). But no, it's otherwise not really a sin.

I'm protestant and don't think there is anything wrong with confessing our sins to another I know it can be freeing. However I believe the only way to heaven is to be saved. Yes it is good to ask for forgiveness and we should when we have a relationship w Christ, but when we are saved our sins are already forgiven. But us as believers should acknowledge our sins and repent. Grace is in us when we r saved!!!

    • @clothyoriginal
      @clothyoriginal 5 лет назад +2

If you mean "saved" as in baptised, then all catholics are baptised. You can be "saved" and commit murder and not be let into heaven until you confess that sin.
