    The 3200 is a nice inbetween rate and size , also quite handy if your putting it in a tool bag.. I had a 2100 and it wouldn’t charge past 90% so .. I generally use the 550 watt charger especially for my older Gen 1 batteries..

    Looks like it doesn't have a cooling vent for the battery unlike the other chargers. They also changed the wall mounting width to 4" from 3" (all other wall mountable chargers are 3") so you'll have to drill new holes to attach it if you're replacing an old charger. Only shows charging status of 0-80% or 80%+. Wish they had better charging status as I've got several older batteries that don't have charge meters on them.

    I strongly recommend charging your batteries using the slow charger, The slower one the better. Unless you need your battery charged right away, don't rapid charge them. Slow charging reduces heat and extends the life of the cells.

    Batteries are wrapped in graphene sheets too keep them cool.

    • @nahimgudfam
      @nahimgudfam Год назад

      actually it's a phase change material that's wax-like with graphene in it. The point of the phase-change is that it insulates it and warms it up to a certain ideal temperature then it melts allowing the heat to circulate away once it's above that temp.

      What ive seen it did have wraps but not there keep cool tech under the wraps for what reason they did not put it on i don’t know maybe for space saving and since its a bigger capacity battery it would most likely created less heat or maybe it could of been a mistake during assembly but there is a video just cant find it 😪 to prove what i saw 😬

    Thanks for the video. The 320W charger description says to have a fan built in but it is the only one of all charger that does not have a vent to cool the battery directly while it is charging. I can hear it but only to remove the heat from the charger itself. Rare while others chargers help to cool down the battery at the the same time. Thoughts?

    I have a question. How do you know for sure that fast charging shortens the life of the battery? Do you have real scientific data that shows that information?
    I mean so many people like to say this but I'd like to see real data that shows this is true. At what rate of charge does the life at the battery start to shorten, and by how much?
    I'm not trying to make an argument either way, because there are certain facts we might assume, like heat kills batteries, but how much heat? These EGO batteries all have battery cooling technology built in, so at what point are we actually shortening the life of these batteries by charging them faster?
    Are other factors being taken into account, like how run down are we allowing them to get before they are recharged, how often they are being charged and discharged, and how long are they being allowed to sit on a shelf before we use them and charge them up again?
    All of these conditions likely affect the overall life of a battery, but which ones are more important than the others and by how much does each one affect the life of the battery.
    I'd love to see a study that shows the answers to all of these questions.
    Show me the numbers of a study like this so we can all truly understand what steps we can and should take to make our batteries last as long as possible.
    Love your channel and your reviews of all the EGO equipment. Thank you!

    • @TechMadeEzy
      @TechMadeEzy  2 года назад +1

      Wow David that was one post. I don’t have a study I wish I did. But throughout my experience, conversations with manufacturers etc and honestly it makes sense as well.

    • @El_Diablo_LI
      @El_Diablo_LI 2 года назад +3

      Common sense would seem to support your statement, but without hard data that shows the facts, I'm skeptical to believe anything.
      I've been using cordless power tools in the construction industry for well over 30 years, and I'm amazed at how far we've come with all the new battery technology that's out there today, including the new Li Po battery packs that are now starting to show up with some of the manufacturers.
      And some of the new technology and data and innovations that Hilti is showing us is also impressive.
      All of this new technology will eventually find its way into all the battery powered equipment we all like to use everyday.
      I just feel like if the chargers have blowers on them to keep the batteries cool while charging them, are we really hurting them by charging them slightly faster if we're able to keep them cool because of the steps the manufacturers have taken to keep the heat away from them?
      I've known that Makita has used fans on their chargers for many years and from my experience, my Makita batteries have lasted longer than many other manufacturers out there, but I too don't have hard data that shows the facts if this is true or not.
      I'd love for someone to actually commission a long term study to show us all these facts so we all know for sure what steps we should follow to make these batteries last longer.
      We spend so much money on these batteries and we all know they won't last forever. But knowing for sure what steps we can take that will maximize the life of them would be an awesome study that all of us can benefit from.
      There are some other channels on RUclips that have compare the different batteries from different battery manufacturers out there. And it seems that some name brand batteries are better than others on a consistent basis. But I also wish we were able to have choices in from who we could purchase our batteries. Right now, I feel like there's a big markup and profit these manufacturers are making on these batteries. So I wish other companies would start making batteries that would fit EGO equipment, because we all know that competition would bring the cost of these batteries down to more affordable prices.

      Been using ego for my lawn service for a year-and-a-half now. I have a few batteries with more than 1000 Cycles on them. I don't have hard numbers for you, but I have noticed that the batteries never really recover after being run hot. I've got three batteries that have become quirky after being run from Full to empty in one go on The Backpack Blower.
      As for Rapid charging. I don't seem to get a "full charge" on the faster Chargers anymore. Like trying to fill a funnel too fast. The charger will turn off before all the power reaches the other end of the battery.

    • @El_Diablo_LI
      @El_Diablo_LI 2 года назад

      @@robertthompson3447 That’s great info. Glad to see that you got over 1000 charge cycles on the batteries. Most homeowners will never get to that level. I might do 50 charge cycles for each battery I have each year. To be honest, I’m just hoping I can get past 5 years for each battery. Anything beyond 5 years to me is gravy. I would love to know exactly how many charge cycles you got before you started seeing battery degradation. I know Makita makes a reader that allows you to see how many charge cycles you have and other details for your batteries, but you can only get it in Japan. It would be nice if this same type of battery reading tool was available from every battery manufacturer so we could know exactly what is going on with our batteries. Sometimes the issue can be one bad cell in the pack. A battery reading tool could tell us this detail to let us determine if we should try to fix the pack, or just replace it. Maybe in the future we will get tools like this and companies that can refurbish our battery packs without needing to throw them out and purchase new ones.

    I extended the life of this video by watching it in slow-mo! But yes, always slow charge batteries if you can. The dual port charger is the slowest EGO charger yet, even slower than the standard charger. Which is nice since it's slower that it can at least charge double.

      @@ajgreen868 I agree! If the manufacturers have taken steps to prevent or alleviate the heat that might be generated when the batteries get charged, then it shouldn't affect the long term life of the batteries by using a fast charger.
      But it would be interesting to know at what point do we start shortening the long term life? Is it 100 degrees, 120 degrees or more? And if hitting those temps while recharging fast, by how much will it decrease the long term life of your batteries?
      That's the information I'm really interested in seeing! At what temps are we really damaging our batteries and by how much are we decreasing the life? That's the million dollar question!
