This guy is really good at Tech. I wonder what he’s up to now?
lol
I've heard he stopped doing RUclips and went on to create some obscure operating system called Linux.. Should've stayed here, the guy clearly had some talent!
@@gustavlrsn I hear he wants some kid with two imaginary friends to go to the principal at once
He is doing videos on "Linus Tech Tips" channel
Probably not amidst his largest drama yet
My parents have an ink jet printer. We use it so infrequently that by the time a cartridge nozzle has dried up, the cartridge has only been used for about 10 sheets.
These laser printers seem magical with their "no liquid so nothing to dry up" and "2400 page yield."
LTT fan stumbled upon this episode while doing research. Shocked how Linus matured over the years ))))
Yeah, he can grow facial hair now.
Exactly!
Same!!

Here I am two years later in your position
I think you should go laser.. always...
Paying for two sets of ink cartridges usually costs more than the actual ink printer... Its unbeliavable.
Printers are born to die, drink up your expensive ink like an alcoholic that just escaped from the Betty Ford rehab, and are harder to dispose of than a human corpse!
haha but Ebay saves it all.
If you're smart you can refill the cartridge again and again.
Weird, mine is still working 3 years later
Well we ad an inkjet printer and it drank up all the ink within a month or so, now we have a laser printer!
wowsers, three years. . .
My art department got sick of replacing their pro-model continuous ink printers (printers that feed from external tanks of ink) so they tried a high-end color laser printer. They won't buy another inkjet printer again (with the exception of large-format pro inkjets) because the laser printer does an amazing job for photography and prints clear text. They use them interchangeably for paperwork and photo printing. They're also generally faster at everything, so they can have entire classes finish printing in the time it took for 1/3 to 1/2 the class with the previous printers depending on quality settings.
In other words, get a laser printer.

Laser printers forever!
Unless you really need the versatile paper selection and supposed better image quality of an inkjet, save yourself the hassle and buy a laserjet. It’ll save you money over time and won’t break down if you leave it alone.
Same here. The day I bought my printer it gave an ink low error, I put tape over the sensor and have been printing ever since! Literally hundreds and hundreds of pages. Even if it the printer dies today I already printed more than the $40 worth I paid for it. Absolutely love it!
This guy looks familiar, maybe he should start his own tech channel, something like "CatTips" or "Windows"TechTips", or "LinuxTechtips"...
actually he did start his a new channel quite a while ago im surprised you didn't hear about it.
Its called: MineCraft Awesome Parodys
I believe that was the joke.

On top of lasting longer, you don't end up wasting ink either.
Many times in my experience, its either cyan or magenta that runs low and I end up having to rebuy a brand new tri-coulor cartridge. Some companies even make it so you must buy 2-1 combo colour and black ink cartridges. If they sell standalone black catridges, they often cost more money too.
Laser printers may cost more for toner, but you can get 4 dedicated toner catridges for each colour and they print much more than inkjet.
The only downside to laser printers is that they are 40 lbs and very bulky.
+PianoKeyz Used to have an Epsuck (I mean Epson sucks) Aculaser C1100 printer and it was huge and heavy. Right now have an LED printer that is more compact and quite lighter.
@@techtron2376 are LED printers expensive? Haven’t heard of them

@@chocolatewheelchair ruclips.net/video/_saDCwsB9Ww/видео.html - if you havent found more about it
No. My HL-1110 is 4.5 kg, and you can easily carry it. Big, professional laser printers of course can be bulky and heavy
As soon as he mentioned, laser prints don't clog.... I knew that was my next purchase!! Thank you !
woah, the old fast as possibles where... not as well done.
Isaiah Carlson they cant exactly keep making these without sponsors
This is just what I needed. Thank you!
Great job... never considered the clogged nozzles. These short vids should encourage more viewers.
Matt
LASER IT IS THEN! Thank you SO MUCH for your quick rundown! 👍
They have color laser printers now? 😮😵😲 Holy moly! I didn't know that! It's been a few years (decades) since I looked at laser printers and they only printed in black back then. They were also VERY expensive!
I've had inkjet all my life and I don't print much. I just bought new cartridges about 6 months ago....$60! and I desperately needed to print something out today just to find out that the cartridges are dried out AGAIN! And I even kept them sealed in a baggie so they won't be exposed to air. Didn't work!
I have only used colored ink 3 times in 10 years, so having a color printer is not really relevant to me. If I REALLY feel the need to print pictures, I can invest in one of those photo docks.
Linus I have to say that I LOVE this new channel, please keep it up and running! :)
❅ ғroѕenғooт ❅ oh boy , do I have news for you
Ohhh boy
Great video, short and sweet no fluff
cool video. laser printer recommendations & refill cost estimates?
Firstly I’d like to say thank you, I just wanted to see the difference or if even such thing as “lazer printer” existed. In the intro you had said, “today I’ll help you to buy a printer” that’s exactly what I was really looking for.
lol I love the 'jump into shot' Vsaucy style endings :)
1:54 When you get your favorite birthday gift.
Perhaps you could also start a channel of an in depth description of what you cover in videos, for those that would want it.
This was an amazing, fast breakdown, thank you for this!
Still relevant advise! Thanks Linus!
really helpful and concise , thank you
Hi , what’s the best printer for printing onto 350gsm card? I can’t seem to find any inkjet printers that print onto card this thick?
This channel is highly informative.
Very helpful. Thank you.
Thanks you did a great job explaining the difference
Good job! It was short and to the point.
WHAT DO YOU DO WITH ALL THE STUFF?
This made my decision easier. thanks!
when you look at 720p to 1080 the image may stretch but because pixels are now more densely packed the words and smaller details are now in a higher quality. 1080i on the other hand is only equal to 1768x992p small dif but when you use a computer the dif is very noticeable.
This video would've been Perfect if he'd made atleast 2 recommendations for entry level printers. One inkjet and one laser....
thanks for this video, very helpful
This was quick and helpful! Thankx
Thanks for the video! If only a cheap color laser that had inexpensive toners existed...
How much would expect to spend for a good laser printer and what are good brands to buy?
aww wish you did this video a couple months ago i had to do a thing about the pros and cons of both for my it diploma :')
Another video I wished I watched 10 years ago! thanks!
Thanks, very helpful.
Linus, You rock!
How about a case with many features, plugging in case features to motherboard, then making the case appearance clean! Can this even be done quickly?
Very helpful, thanks Linus. :)
Remember when his videos didn't have ads?
No
Adblock Plus FTW
Gene Dela Rosa remember when 240p was the best option lol
I don't think uBlock will help with the the pre-roll ads because the ad is baked into the content.
Who cares, the guy is producing free content, which you can watch by just having an internet connection, ads are how he makes his money, to continue making content for you.
who does your graphic design it looks awesome :D
9y old video still the best explanation to date
Which laser jet printer would you recommend for me?
PLEASE HELP .... Are there any printers out there that can print both Flyers & Posters [ FLYERS (4x6 & 5x7) and POSTERS (12x18 & 18x24) ] ... Also do I need to buy another machine to cut the flyers & posters after I print them?
is a laser printer good for iron on transfers?
perfect new name
some things just take time!
I think you're right. This is probably the reason. I got both of the laser printers that I've owned 2nd hand. But after owning a laser printer, anybody would agree that they are a far, far better value.
Very informative and well said.
So inkjet for stickers/shipping labels?
Or buy labels made for laser printers that can withstand the heat process. Not all labels are inkjet only.
a video about monitor panels would be good :)
when i have to study for my ICT GCSE's
I got to this guy XD
techquickie for how to download drivers for your computer and where to download them for a new computer.
which type would you recommend for T-shirt transfers?
Thank you!
Inkjet
Thank you! =D
any chance that you or anyone has anymore tips on the subject?
I ended up buying an Epson L310 for Sublimation and another one for transfers!!!
and a cutting plotter for textile vinyl...
I have learned a little about sublimation but very little about transfers and specially textile vinyl...specially how to use the damn software >_
Well said !
Buying new ink is more expensive than a new printer with ink incluted
+xxX_BomBer_Xxx that depends on some factors: Does the printer come with starter cartridges with less ink or does it come with full cartridges? You should also factor in things like technology recycling / disposal costs (depending on municipality and local regulations) and environmental factors. Where I live, it costs less to buy new ink because you get fined for improper disposal of electronics and it costs less than the fine but more than the difference between printer and ink cartridges.
or... Just return the printer every time it runs out of ink. They'll swap the printer, and it will come with new ink
I don't know how are prices of toners and ink cartriges doing in USA but ink cartriges are cheaper per printed pages in my country.
Absolutely get laser. Inkjet should not even exist for consumer markets.

Does an ssd drive improve texture loading or Popup in games? such as gta 4 etc?
Great video. Thank you!
do a tech quickie on what is the difference between core i3/i5/i7 except for a number of cores
you can unclog an inkjet cartridge with a hot damp paper towel, just press it on and release the dried ink, reviving the cartridge
we print like once a year on this certain inkjet printer and every year we just do that, and it works again.
1155 vs 2011 sockets please linus :)
Great Job! Good Information!!!!
what about which is first chicken or the egg quickie?
cool, thanks for the video
No I game on Steam, I noticed a 5 fps boost with windows 8 and games will be able to use more ram since windows 8 requires less than 7.
Can someone tell me what kind of FONT he is using????
That's what I found when I was looking at printers, and it seemed unless you printed hundreds of thousands of pages the lasers weren't much cheaper even in the long run.
Not true you do save in the long run watch this video and you'll understand ruclips.net/video/BhdgvIL7EZ4/видео.html
you're smoking something mate
of course they are way cheaper
I just use public printers at the library. Much easier since I don't often print things anyway.
also linus you should check out the new Epson L-series printers which have a unique ink tank technology that allows you to save on the actual ink cartridges and instead rely on refilling the ink tanks of the printer hence the low cost.
although this video is old. thank you! i know which printer to get now.
Well, was hoping you had a cheap printer shootout or something, but this actually helped since my main focus is to print business cards. I'm assuming laser would be the way to go so the detailing looks crisp.
Sounds right
2018 updates plz
What if I'm doing heat press
thanks!
Very well done.
very well done
Thanks Linus
welcome to the world of youtube! we've been expecting you
nice video... i bought a laser printer last xmas... good decision since i don't print much, ink was drying out and ended up wasting it.
What if i print 1 or 2 page alternate days or once in a weak then, is the leaser printer right choice for me???
Avinash Bhardwaj it will be ok, but there always will be a risk of ink drying out. If you print text then go for a black and white laser printer that will last 4-5 years without any problem because as far as i know most laser printers can print 1,500-2,000 pages per toner cartridge so it will be ok for 3+ years if you use it once or twice a week.
great video!!
I think it would be better to compare multi-GPU setups in general to single GPU setups, so that people know about stuff like microstuttering. SLI vs CF would not show any difference really.
Im kind of curious which one produces better image and color quality. I also would like to print on stickers and water decals. Most likely inkjet is the way to go for me.
Thank you!!
time for updated version of this topic
super video! thank you!!!
What about an SSD vs HDD quickie?
perfect - tnx a lot qiuck & informative

I'm thinking this old video needs to be updated.
It's missing an ad. Yes he needs to update it with an ad from SquareSpace or Asus.
