When presenting her the necklace, him snapping the box closed was improvised. Her laugh was real.
beat me to it
A good movie from an era when Hollywood actually took the time to tell a heart-warming tale well. I miss that. Great Reaction Emma! 💖
Julia Robert's best performance was in the film "Erin Brockovich."
100% agree with you! I`ve been binge watching her movies ,and this ,and "Erin Brockovich" are my top two.She absolutely deserved the oscar for that movie.
Richard Gere actually composed that piano piece
Hmmm, shall i watch Pretty Woman again? My decision to watch it with you again, i didnt regret it. Julia is really a natural beauty. I highly recommend "Erin Brokovich" with her, a real story. She is stunning, gets an Oscar for it. And of course "Runaway bride", same humour and chemistry between these two actors.
Jason Alexander was so good at playing the slimy, dirtbag lawyer that my mother never wanted to see any other film or TV show with him in it. She hated him so much. I told her, "Ma, he's a really good guy in real life!" It didn't help..... 😆
Playing George on Seinfeld probably didn't help his cause. 😁
@@Fred-vy1hm ... Fortunately, she's never watched Seinfeld. 😄
@@Fred-vy1hm A George divided against itself cannot stand!
Getting tears when the manager helps Vivian
The movie that Julia was watching was Charade, a classic with Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn. You should watch it sometime.
At minute 17 you said, "look at her, so natural and everything". Yes, makeup and a fancy dress is attractive, but to keep, men don't want a show. They want to know who you are. Everyone in Edward's world is fake, its a show. He's attracted to her because she's real, natural. When she cackle laughs, doesn't care how she sits/walks/acts, its refreshing to him. Men may initially be attracted to the make up but they stay for the character and soul.
Oh yes, you are right!! Thank you for this comment!!!
If you liked Richard Gere in this movie. My two other favourite romantic style movies of his are *An Officer and a Gentleman* & *Breathless* I promise you'll love them too.
I also recommend *An Officer and a Gentleman*.
Primal Fear is my favorite after this.
A good choice for a Laura San Giacomo ( Vivian's "roomie" w/ the smokey voice ) movie is, 1990's "Quigley Down Under", a western set in Australia, also starring Tom Selleck & Alan Rickman. She's hilarious in it, despite the film having some very serious undertones !
Sex, Lies and Video is great, too.
Richard Gere and Julia Roberts had such great chemistry that the director brought them together again in "Runaway Bride," another fun romance film you have to see.
Lotta fun moments in this movie, but my favorite is always:
“She has my card.”
“And we will help her to use it, sir!”
I have a feeling that you would absolutely love Milk Money. Melanie Griffith is adorable in it.
I love that movie. Some filmed here in Ohio. Buckeye proud
I had to watch this film a lot at 10 plus because we only had 1 tv, I kind of like it now. Plus, she has the most beautiful hair in this.
You would love Richard Gere in the movie version of the stage musical Chicago. He sings and dances 😉
Julia Roberts and I came from the same small county of Cobb in Georgia, although we went to different high schools. I believe you will see her talent displayed in a in a dramatic role in "Erin Brockovich" and "Steel Magnolias" (tissues required for the latter film).
Fun movie. And it was fun watching you react to a movie that makes you smile so much. I'm sure you would also like - Overboard (1987}
Oh, I don’t know what one!! Thank you for recommendations!! 😉
The late Garry Marshall ("Happy Days") directed that film and "Pretty Woman".
Overboard!!!!!!!!!!
@@jannathompson2262 Overboard - 1987, Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell. It's a Comedy/Romance and it's pretty funny.
After a few years, Julia Roberts and Richard Gere starred together in another film, "Runaway Bride" (1999).
🌍💖 Critics say this movie degrades women! I do not think so! This film shows how women can change not only their lives but also the life of the man they love! And only strong women can do that! Both actors gave a perfect performance in their characters! This movie is about two lost people who meet and save each other's life!
Thank you for your beautiful reaction, Emma! 🤩
It is a Cinderella story, the prince shows up and saves her from her miserable life. (She didn't want to be a prostitute, but didn't know how to get out of the lifestyle. )
I wouldn't say the plot degrades women, but it did glamorize a profession where women are routinely degraded, abused and mistreated. I wouldn't be surprised if a number of impressionable teenaged girls turned to prostitution thinking it would give them a chance to land a rich guy and have a fairy tale ending.
Body.. blooming predictive text 😂
@@jd-zr3vk And then Cinderella saves the Prince. Didn't you watch the end of the movie?
Emma you're such a romantic (aren't we all). It was fun watching you enjoying it. The necklace box snapping of course was my favorite moment.
oh yes! I love this moment!!!🤣
You HAVE to see the "Movies That Made Us" Episode about that movie. That this movie exist in this form, is a PURE wonder.
For another very pretty woman, check out Grace Kelly in Rear Window. An Alfred Hitchcock movie with Jimmy Stewart.
Some of my favorite moments are when are conversating. I really like hearing and seeing them around each other smiling and listening to there conversations.👏🏼
The opera Richard Gere takes Julia Roberts to is "La Traviata," about a prostitute who falls in love with a wealthy man. 😊(quoted from imdb)
The song was originally done by the one and only, Jerry Lee Lewis! Then Iggy Pop did the best cover. Im a real wild child!
35:45 It is said that this moment was a surprise for Roberts, as he closed the box. I think that is correct. 😊
I saw this movie back in the day when I was around 4th or 5th grade (1991-1992) on VHS 📼. I didn’t see it in the theater back in early 1990 when I still in 3rd grade but it was quite a phenomenon when it was out. I saw it multiple times in the early 90s circa 1991-1992 because my mom owned a copy of this movie. Then I didn’t see it again until maybe 5-6 years ago. Almost 30 years. You know what? It actually holds up very well! It aged much better than Dirty Dancing (1987).
It’s quite comparable to The Little Mermaid (1989) released 4 months earlier. Redheaded, attractive girl with a heart of gold and fish out of water story. It’s become one of my top 10 favorite chick flicks and rom-coms ever. This is Julia Roberts during her absolute prime after she did Mystic Pizza and Steel Magnolias. Made her America’s sweetheart. I have an uncle who kinda looks like Eric Roberts, Julia’s older bro.
Very underrated performance by Héctor Elizondo who portrayed the hotel manager. Very kind to help Viv get a dress after that snotty saleswoman told her to leave. “Big mistake! Huge!” In real life, Julia Roberts and Dey Young enjoyed working together and Dey is a sweet, sweet lady.
Great 2021 article on Dey Young…
www.today.com/today/amp/tdna208842
Laura San Giacomo who portrays Vivian’s gal pal, Kit, is hilarious in it. The screenplay still holds up. Pretty Woman was kinda the blueprint for 90s rom-coms that followed it including Julia again in My Best Friend’s Wedding and all the rom-coms that Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan did together in the 80s and 90s. The scene with Jason Alexander’s character trying to rape Vivian was a bit shocking and disturbing. This was years before he did Seinfeld. Jason is hilarious in Shallow Hal.
Movies like When Harry Met Sally and Pretty Woman still hold up today. If you were born in the 60s-70s and you’re female who saw Pretty Woman in the 90s, it’s probably one of your favorite movies. I think it’s better and funnier than the overrated Mean Girls (2004) and Barbie.
Great songs!
“It Must’ve Been Love” - Roxette
“Fallen” - Lauren Wood
“King of Wishful Thinking” - Go West
I have all those songs. There’s a great remake from Paul Rudd and Jimmy Fallon for “King of Wishful Thinking”.
Keep the 80s and 90s classics coming! Pretty Woman remains a timeless 90s classic. Reminds me of better days when I was ages 10-11 rewatching Pretty Woman and Troop Beverly Hills (1989). If you were born in the late 70s to early 80s (Xennial), you would’ve loved the late 80s through early 90s. It was a special time and feeling being a kid. No Internet, smartphones, and social media yet to ruin our fun.
I’m a straight dude who doesn’t always have the urge to watch predictable rom-coms and I think Pretty Woman is still a great and iconic movie after 30+ years. Watch it again in 30 years and you’ll still have a smile on your face.
Julia Roberts in a good horror flick: Flatliners
One of the movies they watched: Charade with Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn. Very fun movie to review!
Hi Emma 😊
Oh My God Pretty Woman. Romantic movie that swept the world at that time
Favorite moment...Edward the knight nervously climbing up the fire escape to find his princess! ...and of course the maitre d helping her after scolding her.
These two have a charismatic on screen working relationship and filmed a few movies together.
He is gr8 in "SHALL WE DANCE" and you will love her in "THE PELICAN BRIEF" and ERIN BROCKOVICH". Hope they make it to your list!
Great reaction Emma, always enjoyed this one. 😊💛
Glad you enjoyed
If you enjoy musicals you might like the movie Chicago. Richard Gere, Rene Zellweger, Catherine Zeta-Jones.
I'm not much for musicals but it's a fun movie. And Richard Gere plays the piano in it.
"I think she's a street girl" XD How adorable.
Of all her wardrobe changes in this movie..the last one Jeans White shirt and Blue Blazer and simple hair and Makeup..IMO was the it..Dresses are beautiful her 1st white dress walking into Hotel was beautiful but ..everyday jeans and shirt 😊
The scene where he snaps the jewelry box and she is wearing the red dress became a meme before the concept of memes existed in social media.
I knew you would love this movie. I would love to have been with for this. Platonically.
They both discovered there was a gap in their lives. They fit together like a jigsaw puzzle.
When Vivian goes back into the snooty store and says "Big mistske! Huge! I have to go shop now!" it one of the most satisfying scenes in film history!
At the time, i had a job in the music industry. I was at the premier and met the director, Natalie Cole, Lauren SanGiacomo, and Richard!😮😮
They did another movie or two, together after this. A good and funny one is, she's been down the aisle but always runs away. Richard is a reporter, trying to figure out why! And he and his assistant have done 3-4 movies together. One being the saddest movie ever, Hachi, a dog's tale!
Wow!!!! It must be so exciting to see them in person 🤩
I'm going to watch some of Héctor Elizondo movies because I only know him from suporting roles like this, princess diary and how high and everytime he is one of the best part!
Ooohhh, I recommended this movie some months ago. I’m glad that you’re really watching it. It’s a great movie!
Must watch an officer and a gentleman.
Great reaction, Emma!!! Love your Tom and Jerry sweatshirt!!! And I love you!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🌹
You're the best!
@@EmmaReactions 😊
Jason Alexander played George on Sienfield. He plays a wonderful sleaze in this movie.
American Gigolo, BREATHLESS,
and UNFAITHFUL are Great Richard Gere films. Don’t miss them!
Now you need to try out “Runaway Bride”…..same great chemistry.
My favorite breakfast is scrambled eggs with lots of salt & pepper and melted butter, along with sausage patties & links, bacon, and hashed brown potatoes with ketchup. Milk to drink. If extra hungry, also pancakes or French toast with butter and maple syrup.
An alternative would be hash browns and ketchup, and an egg & sausage sandwich made using a fluffy, flaky croissant.
Great GREAT MOVIE! sometimes dreams do come true. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👍
This film is a modern remake of an old musical called "My Fair Lady" I am glad you enjoyed.... thanks for posting.
My Fair Lady was a remake of Pygmalion. 😊
Which is an adaptation of Pygmalion.
Great movie, love the reactions 👏
My all time favourite feel good movie:)
If you are romantic you should see La Traviata by Giuseppe Verdi. The music is beautiful of course and the story is very very very romantic!!!
🎉great reaction and great movie!!✌❤✌
Lovely reaction to a classic movie
The opera portrayed is "La Traviata", a story of a doomed romance between a courtesan and a wealthy young nobleman. You have Disney to thank that the original ending of this film, which reflected the humiliation and tragedy of "La Traviata", was scrapped for the happy, romantic ending.
I LOVE the Tom & Jerry shirt!
Moral of the story: money and presentation is everything.
I would love an alternative ending where they depart as friends Ave nothing more, but he sponsors the education of her and her roommate and they live happily ever after.
27:36 - Larry Miller - he has a great bit named FIVE LEVELS OF DRINKING. Its here on YT. U will laugh.
One my favorite movie of my childhood ! 😒🇺🇸🇲🇽🇮🇹
Julia Roberts and Richard Gere are together in another movie after Pretty Woman it is called "Runaway Bride" You should react to that one.
She was seemingly shy in that one scene because cops were interviewing people about a murder of another prostitute. They avoid police
"Welcome to Hollywooood! What's yo' dream?!"
My dream??? To be able to help people and make them happy)) one of them…
Fun, one, Emma! Such a wonderful movie. 😊
This is one of my top three Richard Gere movies. The others are "An Officer and a Gentleman" and "Primal Fear"
I love this movie. Julia Roberts is so cute❤
Pretty Woman watching Pretty Woman
😉😉😉😘😘👍❤️✨
19:14 - while yes, they are being rude, they are also trying to protect the reputation of their boutique. If people find out that prostitutes visit this boutique and buy their clothes - it's over. Rich regulars will leave, out of fear of being laughed at by others for dressing in same places as whores. All Vivian had to do was to thrown on a t-shirt and some shorts/pants before coming into the store.
Another good retelling of My Fair Lady.
I love Pretty Woman
To repeat what said on another site:
The opera they went to was La Traviata (The Fallen Woman), written by Giuseppe Verdi (1813-1901) in 1852 and first performed in 1853. It's about a prostitute who falls in love with a rich guy.
very good movie, and reaction.
one great movie and Julia is great in it and beautiful af
The opera is La Traviata. It's about a prostitute who falls in love with a rich guy.
0:29 try watching Ms Robert’s in Conspiracy Theory and Erin Brockovich and she does a good one with Tom Hanks- Crowne something or the other way around. She plays a great character in The Mexican 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
LOVED watching this when th you. Ty
"How much for the night?"
"You couldn't afford it." She says, sitting on the floor of his penthouse suite 😂
Oh yeah 👍
What a gorgeous 'Logo' .
So you like Richard Gere? Then I have a hell of a tip for you ! Watch 'Hachi, a dogs tale'. (With Richard Gere... 🙂) But I have to warn you ; the rest of the day you wil only crying...... B.T.W. that movie is based on a true story........
Emma! I love your reactions and I have a crush on you. So sweet and caring.
Thank you! 😊
This is an adult Cinderella story.
They were and are close friends, and very good at their craft.
hugs
Hollywood use to actually make decent movies. Very enjoyable reaction.
If you find Richard Gere handsome, you'll enjoy seeing him on 'American gigolo'
You should watch Notting Hill. Julia Roberts and Hugh grant based in London
Runaway bride starred Richard here and Julia Roberts as well please react to it if you have not seen it cause it was very good
This is a PURE fantasy film, and I love/hate it soooo much! This movie is all I want for my life
Hi beautiful, if you thought he looked younger, watch and react him very younger in a great movie , An Officer and a Gentlemen, with Debra Winger.Ane if you like her in it, next watch her 2 years before in Urban Cowboy, with John Travolta. And if you like him in it, watch him 3 years before in Saturday Night Fever, with Bee Gees songs great in it.And if love him dance in it, have to watch the sequel, Staying Alive!
💖💋💖
Ok!!!! That’s great 😀 thank you!!! See you!)
you should try watching the vaalentine's day
7:25 Manual transmission something that only a few can operate!
One of my favorite movies
Oh yeah 👍 agreed
Come on! We love Julia Roberts
