    I recently moved back to the US from France and I noticed how very few people even know what a T-Max is
    I hope you’re enjoying yours 💯

      exactly!They think you're not a real biker if its a scooter,not knowing its more expensive and premium than the mt 07 and mt09 they hype so much lately.

    it is nice that you americans are starting to receive this nice scooters. Every time Im in LA or the area I keep asking why they don't use scooter more often. And this one is one of the best if you need to do highways and not just city.

      I've wondered the same thing, especially in southern California with sun nearly year round and no snow would you not be riding a scooter more often?

    Rode a 2009 a few years back, sold it when the fuel pumps started having problems (not mine but many on the forums were left stranded. The battery was under the front plastics you had to take three or four panels off to get to it. The mirror mounts cracked I had them replaced under warranty and then one of the replacements started to show signs of cracking. The seat opening was by turning the ignition key and pressing; didn't work smoothly and you knew one day the key was going to break off when trying to open the seat. The scoot wasn't light, it weighed in at 500 pounds or so. Those and the cost ($8K) were the negatives. The Positives were outstanding: the thing was fast, certainly all you would want to be riding in town and no issues keeping up on the highway. It looked more sport bike than scooter, I thought it was sharp as can be. Handling was exceptional. You could flick it around the curves easily and it held it's track well. I went back to Harley's and went unto a 2014 Softail Heritage (760 pounds without any gear stored). Realized for me the long Interstate Highway runs were not really part of the mix. The service on the HD was crazy expensive. Did dome research and started to look at scooters again (I don't care what other people think!). I bought a small one, lasted two months (topped out at 57 or 58 mph... Then bought my current ride; a 2016 Kymco People GT 300i. A 300cc liquid cooled, fuel injected scooter with 16" wheels!. The scoot does 80 mph no problem, it only weighs 369 pounds fueled and ready to go. Handles like a sport bike and the maintenance is very low cost (I found a good Kymco dealer ). This thing is amazing. $5,000 out the door. Kymco quality is very good, As good as the Japanese manufacturers IMO. The only question is parts (down the road); the availability may not be as good as Yamaha or Suzuki. But 2,000 miles on the "People GT" and not a single hiccup. No complaints.

    Nice bike. I owned a 2012 500 (2008-2012 version) which I loved, but eventually sold as too much weight on my cocix. That pad is really annoying.
    Needed an aftermarket screen to prevent buffeting. Only other issue was lack of ABS.
    Would like another but they're very dear, and annoyingly only available in grey or black, both which I dislike. I also wish I didn't have to have keyless as its a major security risk.

    So many people just don't understand how a scooter works for most humans. Mind you I've road raced motorcycles, motocross, raced go-carts and cars and have owned sport bikes and HD's .. so I get the motorcycle/speed cool thing but it's apples and oranges for people who say a maxi scooter is too expensive, they just don't get it. Maxi Scooters for my life style get around town, to the office, to events, and into parking spots otherwise unobtainable in the report town I live in. These scooters are way more fun to ride in town than any motorcycle, easy on and off, and I can carry groceries and other stuff.
    I now owned a GT200 Vespa for 5k miles, it was a great pit bike and finer one up but for two up riding kind of slow and not too much fun to ride fast as it was prone to high speed wobble.. I did one long ride (150 miles) and it was miserable but not what it was designed for. Then I bought an Aprilla 500, it was heavy, fast, and did I mention heavy. It simply was perfect for my needs and would do 100mph solid as a rock. Two up riding was excellent and I did several long rides which were a lot of fun carving mountain roads. We put 7k on the Aprilla. Now the Yamaha T-Max 530 ... best Maxi scooter ever made, looks un-dork and rips. Thank you for your review.

    I'm much more of a motorcycle guy than a scooter enthusiast, but the TMax is very appealing to me. Until it comes to the price......$10,500 for a 530cc scooter? Parked right next to it in my local Yamaha dealer showroom is the FJ-09 sport touring bike, for the exact same price. The FJ has twice the power and with the standard included hard bags will carry more stuff too. Shifting gears on a bike is not really that difficult, I've been doing it for 52 years. Scooters in general are ridiculously over-priced for what you really get.

    • @ViceVersaMusik1
      @ViceVersaMusik1 8 лет назад

      your right! there are ALOT of Awsome Motorcycles that are under that price, Some you can even almost get 2 of them for that price!

    • @EstateGoods

      Barry Ervin It's a very different experience. Scooter are more of a car replacement than a motorcycle replacement. Scooters are designed for running erands making it much more useful for multi-stop trips and bad weather. It's. the alternative to having a car and motorcycle combination. Ideal for single people living in cities.

    • @barryervin8536
      @barryervin8536 7 лет назад +1

      I've owned 2 scooters, and they were fun and, as you say, very handy for riding around town and running errands. As for replacing a car, that definitely wouldn't work here in rural PA where I live with cold winters and snow and ice. If you live in a city with bus transportation, it may work well. My problem with scooters is that they are over-priced. I've been in the car and motorcycle field for many years and have a good idea of what something costs to produce, and a 6 speed transmission and manual clutch cost way more to make than a centrifugal clutch and variable belt drive. The brakes and suspension on most scooters are primitive compared to most modern motorcycles, too, although the T-Max is pretty good in that respect. In general, when I look at most scooters I just don't see where the money goes. It's not that I don't like them, I just don't want to pay a price for a scooter that would buy me a far more capable machine in a motorcycle. I paid $5000 for my new Honda CB500X and if I could have bought a T-Max for that price I would have considered it, but $9000? No way.

    • @ZnenTitan
      @ZnenTitan 7 лет назад +2

      That's what made the Vespa so popular in Italy after the war. It was made for people who did not care for motorcycles and wanted something akin to a two wheeled car. ( low maintenance , easier to use, and with greater protection from the elements)

    Its the variator belt that you change out every 12,000 miles or so. (you should get more than that). The rear drive belt should last 80,000 plus easy. I can tell this is your first maxi touring scoot.

    In my opinion there are very few scooters that don't make a person look like an eccentric, nerdy, dork. The Zuma is one of the cool ones. That new scoot of yours is over the top for my taste. I would have gone with a motorcycle before that. Like your video's though. Thanks for sharing...

    I have a Zuma and love it but I need something in case I need to hit the freeway. I wanted to know are these nimble in the streets because I live in Los Angeles where filtering is legal and the Zuma excels in that regard, I know I will have to give up some maneuverability with the larger TMax but I don't something large and clunky like the Bergman and a very reclined seating position like the Forza.
