  • Was curious what the inside of the in-motor hub looked like from an electric skateboard.

    I need to open up my hub motors to investigate a rumbling noise so this has been really helpful for me to know what to expect. Thanks!

      You should reseat your motors (4 connections) from the esc

      One of the hall sensors in your motor is bricked. Hub motor uses 3 hall sensors to provide synchronisation for magnetization of the windings. If one of them is gone, it doesn't give the feedback to the controller so it stops the magnetization of one of the windings. That is why it gives the stuttering sound. You need to identify and replace the hall sensor which is not working.

    That is not a simple conector circuit bord it is a hall effect sensor which also helps in increasing efficiency of motor more than 85%. Its main job is to tell the position of all magnets ......

    Thanks. I'd been wondering if you could swap out the rear bearings. From what your video shows, it might be pretty simple. The outer bearing should pop out easily if you take the hub cap off. I guess you'd have to detach the wires at the ESC to slip the inner bearing off the far end of the cables but it could be done.

    • @JustVlads
      @JustVlads  6 лет назад +1

      +FandangleTechery your right, it shouldn't be to hard to change the bearings but inner one is bigger so it would need to be measured out.

    • @MarkDally
      @MarkDally 6 лет назад +1

      Oh okay. That makes it a bit harder. Might just stick with the bearings I have

  • @lisadolatowski

    The electronics are for the 3 hall sensors. You can see them, they are the 3 leg components that are next to your thumb at 3:44. Damage the sensors and your motor won't work (unless you get a sensorless controller).

    I got a problem. One wheel doesn't get any torque. If I flip my board and push the wheel it feels harder to turn compared to the other motor. Does it mean it's a shot circuit?
    It didn't have any water in it ..and looked clean like yours.

    Does anyone know where I can get bearing for hub motors? My meepo board has a "crunchy" sound coming from the rear when riding, and I'm almost 100% sure that the rear bearing need replaced. Since they're not standard size, I'm wondering where to get them. I have replaceable PU, so I don't want to buy all new motors. Thanks guys.

      This should be a standard sized bearing and there is probably a marking on it and googling that should return results. The marking is usually on the outer ring on the bearing and a new bearing is probably very cheap. There is information on the internet on how to put in the new bearing.

    Nice video, thanks! I have a Meepo board and I changed the bearings in the front wheels. The coast a lot longer and in theory it should cause less resistance when riding. I wonder if replacing the motor bearings would help. What do you think?

    • @JustVlads

      Im sure it would help somewhat, but i dont think it would be that big of a difference that you would feel, plus the bearings appear to be differently sized inside the motor. Thanks
