    Pann's Impenetrable Pelt can stack with Shield of Thorns, 46% physical resistance is quite a lot. And since there are 4 of them each, these two spells can be cast continuously.
    Maybe this is why he brings 4 beast caster.

    Creator of this doomstack here to answer a few questions.
    When did I played this campaign? Back in December when the max cap for Branchwraiths was 13.
    Why Drycha didn't have the red line? Original idea was to fill the army with only Branchwraiths, but that didn't work due to their low health pool.
    Why beast magic? Pann's, Anraheir, Flock(really good here), Amber spear and extra winds regen.
    Why shadow magic? Pit of Shades / Dwellers combo, Pendulum is better for some situations, Withering to help with armor, Enfeebling for certain lords, Okkam's for more melee strength.
    Why life magic? Dwellers, Heals and Shield of Thorns.
    Actually went through the whole campaign with Drycha having some version of this stack and it really kicked off after getting around 6 Branchwraiths to a good level. That battle was about the only one I couldn't win with auto-resolve after turn 100-something
    Also as I have tried this fight with a 9/10 treeman doomstack and lost halfway through, I personally rate this stack as 9.5/10 at least even with the need of multiple forests

      Treemen rely on their physical resistance to survive. Black Ark admirals give their entire armies magic attacks. Three armies of AP units that bypass most of their resistances is the worst possible thing to go up against with an army of treemen.

    I found shield of thorns very efficient, you take less damage and deal more, and since it triggers the lore of life passive it isn't even that bad for healing compared to earth blood, since the passive does a lot of work when stacked like that. Also, redu Ing damage is better than healing if you can reach healcap

    • @a.hollins8691

      I too use buffs/debuffs more than damage spells. When you stack them your units' stats can just get absurd, especially if you are buffing already powerful single entities.
      Damage spells are useful when the enemy is blobbed up, but I am just not very good at aiming them. Legend seems to almost always hit moving units with bombardments, I feel like I almost always miss. And vortex spells seem to either go the wrong way or go right into my own units. That, and they're so expensive. I can stack several buffs for less magic than a single vortex spell.

There's so many more branchwraiths I would've thought you'd look at them more. especially since they took WAY less damage than the treemen. Probably b/c of all of the missles focusing on the big targets. Like you've said b4, being small is an advantage as long as you aren't being stunlocked by heavier units.

    to be honest, 7/10 is a bit harsh. You did smash 3 end game DE armies without much trouble and with barely any micromanagement. while I totaly agree with your concerns raised, I think you have rated other armies higher that would have gotten crushed by this. Maybe give it a 8.5/10 or even a 9/10. I mean if you exchange like 10 branchwraiths for treeman it literaly is the 10/10 doomstack you would recommend right? 1 point deduction for lack of tankiness and less convenience and another 0.5 points gone for the missing resistance in drychas line seems more fair than 3 whole points gone.
    good video though, I enjoyed it!

    But you can't cast dwellers on a wall, can you?

  • @TokarevArtyom
    @TokarevArtyom 3 года назад +2

    I disagree on "dwellers below can do all that pit of shades does". No, they are not. Dwellers cant target units on the wall. And sometimes it is crucial. You can use awakening of the wood on a wall, though, but its effect is lesser than pit of shades. Also pendulum have different area of effect (and long one), so depending on how units stant (or how you make them stand) pendulum can actually do more.
    So, in general, i still pref to have both lores in my WE army. lore of beasts... is redundant. But it is actually quite good in beginning (where buffs this lore provide have higher impact) and also it is better to make low-tier army to deal with high tier. Especially in combination with lore of life. But yeah, it is too situational to make it worth hiring and leveling hero with this lore.

    • @Debilinside
      @Debilinside 3 года назад

      It think the lore of the beast is there for the phys resistance buff so it can stack with the shield of thorns. If he had used the red line on Drycha the treemen would have gotten almost 80% phys resistance.
      Also I agree, pit of shades is a really good spell. With vampire counts you can have 2 vampire take out lvl 5 cities with full garrison. Send them on the wall, and just keep dropping pit of shades when 2-3 unit tries to fight you in melee.
      But beside being usable on the wall, its actually quite good holding spelll because it pulls in the entities, so they cant really run away. Also briefly stuns them because they fall at the start of the animation. Saved a lot of monsters and heroes with it, it most of time gives enough time to run away or re-position.

    • @TokarevArtyom
      @TokarevArtyom 3 года назад +1

      @@Debilinside And pit of shades can be stacked with dwellers that way (just like you stack brass orb with war lightning as warlock engineer), so i really like use this two in combo. AN dwhile i do use lore of shadow as VC, it does not stack as good as life + shadow do.
      Anyway, we were talking mostly about WE doomstack, so yeah. I don understand why lore of beasts being used, but i kinda agree, that it does not have much place in "doomstack". It applies better to low-mid tier armies, imo. I i would rather have more treemen there. But there is one thing lore of beasts have, that is actually good there no matter what - magic arrows. Sniping out lords that can shred your resistances can be pretty valuable.

    • @Debilinside
      @Debilinside 3 года назад

      @@TokarevArtyom I think he prepared for the armor piercing dmg specifically. The only real weakness of the treeman stack is armor piercing missiles so if you can stack high enough phys. res. then you are good to go. Doomstack was built wrong, yes, but it's not a 7/10 by any means IMO, he needed actually LESS treemen (like 2 or 3 max) and then let the branchwraits smash everything, since they got such high melee attack that they can just shred single entities in 5 seconds whilst magic handles infantry blobs, that simples fix, again, in my view would make this virtually unbeatable since it got all bases covered.

    why would you ever reduce costs with the WE? You will swim in money anyway.

      WE economy is balanced around having a lot of stacking upkeep reducing effects. If you play on normal difficulty this results in a very strong income, since you only take a 2% upkeep penalty for each additional army. On very hard and legendary this upkeep penalty is 15% per army, which completly overpowers the upkeep reductions you can get, which makes WE poor as shit on those difficulties.

      @@YunoGasai-cj6us i thought it was based on razing settlements

      @@Lost7one Sure razing settlements is how you generate the bulk of your income. But before the WE rework the money you got for razing was around three to four times greater then afterwards. To make up for this nerf WE got a ton of upkeep reducing effects (technologies, landmarks, offices etc). On normal difficulty this works out as a net buff because you meake about a third of the income but pay your troops only around 20 - 25%. On very hard and legendary it is a completly crippling net nerf because even after stacking all possible upkeep reductions (including lord skills) you still pay your units more than 100%.

    This "doomstack" seems totally pointless. Can people stop feeling proud of themselves for making hero doomstacks please? They're mostly super late game, weaken your other armies due to hero cap and are seriously lacking in imagination... "Oh look, I put a bunch of leveled up heroes in 1 army and it kills stuff, I'm so smort and creative! NOTICE ME LEGEND SEMPAI!!!!"

      actually this doomstack started working after getting around 6 Branchwraiths that weren't even immortal yet, but Legend doesn't take "incomplete" doomstacks into consideration
