I believe that some of the information you’ve provided are incorrect. Currently, there are many archeological sights that resembles Angkor Wat in Thailand because it was part of the old Khmer Empire (I’ve been to a couple). The temple in question you’ve mentioned is actually inspired by the one from Korat. The picture you’ve shown in the construction is actually from there. 3 spires. In fact, Cambodian Cultural ministry sent people to this temple 2 years ago to check whether violations have been made with regards to copying. Their findings showed that it was not and confirmed that the design is from the spires from Korat in Thailand. They’ve issued a formal statement as well. I don’t think the entire complex of Angkor Wat can be copied. It’s gigantic. The temple that youve said are being built is actually going to be a real temple (with monks living there) that is significantly smaller than Angkor Wat. It includes a Hindu inspired Annex pagoda that resembles many temples in India. I don’t think you can build a new one and expect to have the same magic of history like that. However, having said that; China have already built a replica that resembles Angkor Wat even more so than the one you’ve mentioned. You can look it up. I also believe India is already beginning construction of its own Larger Scale Angkor Wat that will be bigger as well. To sum up though, I don’t think the Thais are copying Angkor Wat when there are real ancient temples that exists in Thailand that resembles Angkor Wat. Because It was built by the same empire. Long ago before map lines started to be drawn.
@@OutYourShell For the one in China, I’d say that one is a replica. As it was built to show key architectural features that is exactly the design identity of Angkor. Like large faces on all sides of the Pagoda. As per the one in India, I’m not entirely sure because I haven’t seen the design. The Phu Man Fah temple in Thailand however is more of a modern adaptation. To the untrained eye you’d probably say that it is a copy. But to Architects or Interior architects it’s more of a neo-classical style adaptation. Like combining the classic style but with a minimalist modern flare to it. You can tell from the striped down detail construction of the sand stone. I’ve seen Thai Neo-Classical and Balinese Neo-Classical work often and this is like that. This temple is very similar. So for that I’d say it is more like an inspiration.
@@OutYourShell"Cambodia=Khmer" is not "khom". "Khom" is a culture from a period in Indochina. Stone inscription at Prasat Hin Phimai in Thailand Notes about King Suriyavarman 2, the king who built Angkor Wat which is Thai- Khom language, Older Thai people and the monks can read this language, but Khmer people cannot. and they erased the name of the Siam Kuk that was on the Angkor Wat wall. Because they did not dare to accept the fact that Prasat Hin Phimai was built before Angkor Wat with the same art and was the prototype of Angkor Wat. Angkor Wat is located in Siem Rat (Siem Reap) the old name of that land and it's mean to "The land of Siam", Siam is the old name of Thailand. And Thai people called it "Nakorn Wat Nakorn Thom or Angkor-Thom ". At France 's Museum, There is a replica of Angkor Wat located. And there is a label that says "Belong to Siam".
There are many castles shaped like this in Thailand, and most importantly, they were built before. Why do we have to copy them? 10:07 Phra Prang Sam Yod is a 13th-century temple in Lopburi, Thailand. and we call those castle "Khom" style (We never called THAI style), as "Khom" refers to people who live along the Chao Phraya River. They in the past were the ones who spread the culture, but now they will claim every stone castle as their own, if that were the case they would claim the whole of Thailand, stone castles like this can be found all over Thailand.
@greenandshadow Thailand and Cambodia were both part of the Khmer Empire 1 country is divided into 4 sides. How different do you think the cultures will be? Well, each person wrote their own history. Even the maps of the land were competing with each other and overlapping each other. Otherwise, until now, would there be arguments?, that is why they hate each other until this day! Who knows whose side the history writers are on? Cambodia was once a colony of the West. Do you think history from the west will side with Thailand? For example, Muay Thai and Kun Khmer, Thai people would not mind at all if they started a new sport. But they replaced Muay Thai with Kun Khmer, even though they're not 100% the same, but they tried to claim it as Kun Khmer. How do you think Thai people will feel?
Cambodians also built new temples with Siamese style. Modern-day Cambodian learn Pali via Thai resources. They leant Thai dances from Thai teachers, but when they went back to Cambodia they called it Apsara dance.

As an Indian traveler from Hyderabad, I visited Cambodia twice in 1984 and 2016. The stone temple of Angkor Wat in Siem Reap was extremely amazing. I also visited Angkor Wat replica in Danang, Vietnam. But the most stunning replica of Angkor Wat can be found in Nanning China. King Suryavaraman II who built Angkor Wat was by descent related to the Chola dynasty who ruled from present day Tamil Nadu, southern India. My eyes in tear to see our ancient Hindu temple in Southeast Asia. My thanks go to the Cambodian government who help preserve Indian civilization.
I think it is legitimate for local people to build architecture that existed locally in the past. And it is a religious work. They do not claim to own Angkor Wat. which even though in the past they were the owners of Angkor Wat The term plagiarism should be applied to countries that do not have adjacent territories. It was the Western colonies that separated them. Without the Western colonial era, they would be the same country today.
Cambodia is not concerned about tourists skipping Cambodia and visiting other destinations, like LEGO Land in Thailand (20+ years to complete). The decision is made by the tourists, not by social media promotion. Just so you know, Sokha Enterprise is the one in charge of the fee for Angkor Wat, not the people of Cambodia.

Thais get so upset when people don’t associate temples that look so Khmer with Thai civilisation. Why would the world even think these temples are Thai when the pinnacle of these temples, the Angkorwat, is located in Cambodia at the center of the Khmer empire? At that time, Siamese were still developing the temples of Ayuthaya which doesn’t even compare to the Khmer temples.
Siamese (Thai) King Suryavarman I of Lawo and King Jayavarman V, King Jayavarman VI, who built Phimai and Phanom Rung rock castles, and Phra Chai Suriyavaraman II, who built Angkor Wat. King Jayavarman VII, the builder of Bayon Temple (Angkor Thom), and King Jayaviravarman the builder of Prasat Muang Sing. 80 7 All buildings looks similar. You can come and check this in Thailand
Located in Phimai District, is an exquisite Khmer era archaeological site. The name ‘Phimai’ originates from ‘Vimai’ or ‘Vimaipura’, evident in Khmer inscriptions on the stone lintels of the temple’s front gallery and other locations. It is likely referring to a sacred site or an object of veneration.

Khmer history was written during the French colonial period. It is old and outdated information. Indian architecture is much younger than that in Thailand and Indonesia. Before the French came to rule Cambodia Khmer itself was a colony of Thailand (formerly Siamese) for more than 400 years. Both cultural traditions have spread into the lives of the Khmer people since then. France coined the term "The Khmer Empire" during the period when France ruled Khmer But in Thailand we use the word "Khom Empire" which means a group of people or ethnic groups that share a common culture. It does not refer to any specific race. In the past, after the Siamese attacked the Khmers The Khmers themselves are unable to build any more Hindu buildings. Currently, the Khmers do not have knowledge and understanding of the cultures related to those cultures and are unable to repair ancient sites on their own. At present, Cambodia has a population 17 million people if we go back to the Angkor Wat era. How many people does Cambodia have? And how would that be enough to rule the people of the kingdom? Therefore, it is a misconception that the Khmers are the rulers of the kingdom. But it is a group of people with many ethnicities who have a common culture.
Thais have copied and normalized Khmer temples, traditional dances, traditional clothing and other Khmer cultural symbols as their own. In their few years, Thais generally have developed hatred toward the Cambodian people but loved the culture and history of the Khmers.
LOL. I'm not surprised why many Khmer people have this kind of delusional understanding. It's because Cambodian government have taken out the most important part of Khmer history where they called it "Dark Ages" because they didn't want to talk about it. After Angkor Wat were destroyed, Siamese have pressed its power and influence upon Cambodia for 430 years (from Ayuthaya to early Ratanakosin era), which ended when French took Cambodia as its protectorate in 1860s. In fact, when the French took over Cambodia, the Royal palace of Cambodia from the King and his subjects all spoke Thai and wrote in Thai, as evident in Kings letters to his subjects were all written in Thai. All dance troops and teachers were imported from Siam, until the French took over then it began to translate the songs and literature into Khmer language.
Cambodia=Khmer" not "Khom". "Khom" is an ancient culture in the southeastern region. Most Westerners tend to understand that Khom is Khmer. In fact, this is not the case. Western historians therefore write incorrect history.

No, Thai culture was influenced by the Khmer empire. The Thai script and numbers was originated from the Khmer script and they developed into the Thai script we're seeing nowadays. While Laos in another hand they come from Thai and it was influenced by both Thai and Cambodia however they also use the Thai script that has derived from the Khmer script as theirs and they also developed the script into the Lao script nowadays. Lao languages share about 70-80% of the same words.

Khamer, in fact, came from savages and bad slaves. Hence, Khmer has no own kingdom, identity, costumes, traditions, or culture. Especially, Angkor temple was built by Tamils from India, but Khmer people have never credited it to India. 545 years as a bad slave of Siamese, Khmer had to follow Siam rules and regulations. Why Thailand has to copy...
Phra Chaiworaman VII was not the king of Khmer or Cambodia. He is the Khom (Thai) king. At that time, the Khmers were slaves that he forcibly brought from Champa. Later, Mr. Taengwan gathered his slaves to rebel. made himself king of the slaves Therefore he was the first king of the Khmer dynasty. Since then

Cambodians have continuously requested financial and technical supports from Thai and Indian governments to help them repair their Khom stone castles. They don't have any knowledge to maintain their national symbol, but Thais know everything. Cambodians never show any gratitude to Thais for the assistance. Nowadays Cambodians aggressively accuse Thais copy and steal their culture. In fact, all Hindu stone castles were built by Khoms, not Khmers. Khmers rebelled Khom king and started to establish their kingdom. Khmers have never been Hindu as well. This is why Khmers do not know anything how to build and maintain their archeological sites. In contrast, Khoms and their culture in other kingdoms which are now parts of Thailand are still well preserved. For your information, in Thailand, there are Khom stone castles which are older than Ankor Wat.

Cambodia used to be a vassal of Siam (Thailand). They stepped Siam in the back while Siam was at war with Burma. Later on, Burma was defeated by Siam. Siam started to go to war with Cambodia. End up a big ancient Khmer empire lost against Siam (Stolen by Siam) within a few months by General Pra Rajamani, and finally, Khmer became a Siam slave. By the way, France has admitted that Cambodia has transmitted its culture from Thailand. It's sad about the past of Cambodia. King Rama IV of Thailand gave Cambodia to France to prevent Thailand from being colonized by France. Since then, their own culture has begun to fade away. And during the worst incidents, which are the incidents of the genocide by the Khmer Rouge, Cambodian culture, including the old generation, has been destroyed until extinction. Some emigrate for a better life abroad. In the end, all that is left is the ruins are also known as Nakon Wat, which was built by Siam during the period when Khmer was a colony of Siam. The problem today is that they are trying to find their roots. But everything was destroyed along with the old generation peeps. The new generation of Khmer therefore understands that the foundations of their culture are carved into the walls of Angkor Wat by the Siamese. Plus, the Cambodian government incorrect information about culture and history. In order run the SEA cultural center campaign, stimulate tourism rates that have slowed down, and most importantly, stimulate nationalism. Khmers are easily influenced by Hun Manet's propaganda. I am Khmer from Battambang, and I live in the United States. I believe that Laos, Thailand, and Cambodia should be united and stop looking at each other so negatively because of nationalism/patriotism. We share the same blood, beliefs, and cultures. The only major difference is that we speak different variations of languages and dialects due to modern boundaries that separate our countries and geopolitics, and because of that, there are bound to be variations/influences/changes and new ideas over time from external factors/forces and human ingenuity. Many people in Northeastern Thailand speak or used to speak the same Khmer language as the people in Cambodia and have relatives on both sides, but some will lose their Khmer language and identity more and more over time because the Thai language is the predominant and national language of Thailand today. We also have a lot of Khmer in Southern Vietnam, known as Khmer Krom, that Vietnam took over their land and separated them from Cambodia today. Khmer Krom is more resistant to the Vietnamese because we don't share their culture and values. Khmer Krom tries hard to maintain their identity/culture and a connection to their brothers/sisters in Cambodia. We should look at our three countries (Lao/Cambodia/Thailand), and maybe the Burmese, too, as one family/country within the greater ASEAN family. Our three countries are also greatly influenced economically by the Chinese or Chinese descendants who have assimilated into our societies today. We shared the same ancestors, and there is no one predominant race (Khmer or Thai ) or who should be better than whom. We're of the same human race from the same geographic location with a strong belief in Buddhism, and we can be kind and respectful to each other. We probably got divided because of power struggles and other factors, and to some extent, it's understandable that we all look to claim our identity because modern boundaries divide us into separate countries. But once upon a time, we're all brothers and sisters, just like Mainland China and Taiwan today, where Taiwan is looking to distinguish itself from Mainland China. Currently, Cambodia is recovering from a long civil due to internal/external and communisms influences, just like Lao and Vietnam. We're at peace now; development is slowly taking place, and the people are rediscovering themselves. Given time and with no more war, Cambodia will be able to catch up with the rest of Southeast Asia, just like in the 60s, the previous golden era for Cambodia. Burmese, Cambodia, Lao, and Thailand share and cherish the same beliefs and culture, and there's no need to attack one another.

Thanks for your clip on "Anger What?" in Buriram, Thailand. Now I would like to give a certain opinion on the matter. No Thai on earth disrespects Angkor Wat and I'll tell you why later. Before the people who blame us as 'thieves' keep nagging away that we robbed, stole umpteenth things from them nonstop, I would like you to look into S.E. Asian timeline and you'll find that Angkor Wat (aka Yasothrapura in Khmer language where Angkor = Nakorn in Thai means city and Wat (Thai word for monastery) and other stone structures in Cambodia are among the youngest construction of its kind comparing with old buildings in Thailand by over hundred years. This new Buddhist temple (Anger What as referred) is under construction in Buriram where we are blamed heavily by the Khmer people that we copied from Angkor Wat. It may be the way it is looked at by Cambodia but if you see The 'Temple of Three Prangs' is regarded as Lopburi's chief landmark which was built well before the Angkor, you may understand, including places like Phimai, Prasart Muang Singha and numerous buildings of the similar style established by Indian, Mon, Thai etc. since mid-stage of Dwaravati period before the culture namely "Mon/Khom" which was politically changed into Mon/Khmer by one of the Western colony hunters who greedily seek name, fame, power as well as their exotic supply of food, labour etc.. The mere fact of was then the S.E. Asian history distorted on their favours as a part of what we call marketing and soft power today. Now, if you learn that the exact replicas of Angkor Wat are already displayed in Germany, China and under construction in India, what would you say. The construction in Buriram is in operation to prove that the craftsmanship of such arts and architecture can still be traced in Thailand, not in Cambodia. If you understand the "Indianization" wave of the past which swept through S.E. Asia, you would appreciate what I am trying to convey without bias. jealousy or any emotional thought with no historical evidence. Another vital reason is that Cambodia was in our custody for 432 (four hundred and thirty-two years) before The Western power split it to be added into their "IndoChina" without even asking. This period is certainly mature enough to make the Khmer people get muddled up with the Cultural track until today.

It seems very inept to judge Thailand for building a temple inspired by their own ancestors. The Khmer occupied a region of south east asia far larger than any of the currently drawn country lines. Please look up these details before making videos broadcasting rushed and unfounded opinions....
I appreciate this comment :) I was reading through that day's news. Would you say these newer temples are replicas or their own creation?

Because all the temples in thailand is the reputation temples from great khmer empire.
Located in Phimai District, is an exquisite Khmer era archaeological site. The name ‘Phimai’ originates from ‘Vimai’ or ‘Vimaipura’, evident in Khmer inscriptions on the stone lintels of the temple’s front gallery and other locations. It is likely referring to a sacred site or an object of veneration.
sCambodia and Claimbodia should focus on Indian Tourists. Because Ankhor is the biggest Hindu Shrine outside India. This is the biggest and strongest link. Indian tourists have high potential of spendind, don't rely on only chinese tourist.
Ancient Khmer temples are in Thailand and Lao during the Khmer Empire. That is why the Thai adopted our Khmer systems to fit their lifestyles.
Shame that people all over the world have become so narrow minded with pride and ego.
Shame on Cambodian people that they derived traditional dances, outfits, etc. from Thailand but they don't accept the truth. 🫢🫢
What evidence is there that all Thai culture is Cambodian culture?

No, Thai culture was influenced by the Khmer empire. The Thai script and numbers was originated from the Khmer script and they developed into the Thai script we're seeing nowadays. Thai language also shares 40% the same word to Khmer, which is borrowed from the Khmer language. While Laos in another hand they come from Thai and it was influenced by both Thai and Cambodia however they also use the Thai script that has derived from the Khmer script as theirs and they also developed the script into the Lao script nowadays. Lao languages share about 70-80% of the same words.
The Khmer Empire came before Thailand, as the empire was founded in 802, while the first Thai kingdom was established in 1238 -
Scholars have pointed out that without Thai people utilizing over 2500 Khmer words, the Thai-Tai Kadai Chinese language would NOT have existed.

What do people mean by "bad slaves"?
In the year 2124 the Thais will claim that their Angkor Wat is the Original.
Phra Chaiworaman VII was not the king of Khmer or Cambodia. He is the Khom (Thai) king. At that time, the Khmers were slaves that he forcibly brought from Champa. Become a slave to build a castle Among those slaves was Mr. Taengwan as well. Later, Mr. Taengwan gathered his slaves to rebel. made himself king of the slaves Therefore he was the first king of the Khmer dynasty. Since then

It's actually complex than you think. After the evacuation from Siem reap in 1421 many cambodians went to aokdong which is present day Phonm penh. The vast majority of the citizens are a mixer of Thai and Cambodian people because Siem used to take almost all of cambodians to their coutry after they won the war in Angkor period but later a new monarch of cambodia took his own citizens back but actually the desandant of the people who were living in Siem. Many khmers who know about Angkor wat are either dead due to war or in Siem. So many desandants are left oblivious. Another question" they know about this temple when the France discover them" ok let me guess this straight, not knowing what is your temple is a contradiction against cambodians? What about the pyramid? The fact that european archaeologist discovered alot of things from the pryramid than its people does that mean they are imposter to their country? The main reason why we can't continue building due to conflict with other countries, the economy has fallen, the death of citizens, the lost documents, etc...
3. I don't understand what you were saying. But this temple is ours because it's already under our authority.
4. We do, we don't disrespect our kings and queens. We believe in Khmer values-the same value of our ancient kings. We believe in the same goals as these kings that fought for our country. Regardless of our distance genetics, we don't believe in division like Americans- we don't separate our people based on what ancestors we come from. We believe in Khmer values that's all.
P.s. You take after a lot of your American counterparts. You believe that Cambodians are imposters to their country because we aren't related to the o.g Khmer? Well, look at Egyptians they aren't pure black, they are arabic, Greek , white egyptians and they aren't imposters toward their country either. It doesn't verify anything at all. 4. It's more of a comparation. Your contradiction is " if not related then you're fake" an idea to use against present cambodians for not being closely related to their ancestor, egyptians were once pure black but with foreign power in surge as a result, they are diverse. 1. These people are desandants. After Siem won the war, they took khmers to their country therefore, many desandants are rasied without any knowlegde of their temple also the khmer who knows about them are dead or in silent under the control of siem. When another khmer monarch successfully took back our people including the desandants they have to evacuate elsewhere far away from Angkor. But then Siem managed to over cambodia wholely many khmers were left with zero knowlegde because of siem propaganda. Fortunately, when france took over many desandants of khmer know about their own temple. By the way, there are khmers that do infact know about the temple but don't have the opportunity to speak out.

This is something Mr. Manet, a graduate of Westpoint College in the US, is good at. He is literally good at fooling his people who are struggling with the history of Cambodia. Cambodian… please wake up for a better life. Your whole country is broken, and completely fkd up because of Chinese investors (Aka Chinese crime organizations). The history of Thailand just started in 12th century and most of temples in there were built by Khmer empire. Do they really want to wipe Khmer all and claim everything?

Wow this is a very clear and mutual comment. I appreciate this.

If Khmer is using this kind of logic then they are not original owner of Angkor Wat the Tamil descendants are 🇮🇳🪷
