"250 miles for a cup of tea"
This is my favourite kind of ride. I regularly travel from my home in Kenilworth, Warwickshire to Lymington, Hampshire for a coffee at a little cafe on The Quay. It is 136 miles each way, so the ride there usually takes around three hours as I like to meander through The New Forest once I have passed Southampton.
Heading home I tend to be more direct, taking 2 hours.
The best part of using the bike is its traffic queue defeating abilities as the A34 is known for its queues.

Is mad all the tech we have available to us now isn't it. I've only listened to music a couple of times on a bike, so don't really miss that... but is great to be able to do that and nav/phone/etc

Hi Ricky, Been a follower of your channel for sometime now and have to say that’s the quality of your vlogs have got better over the years without doubt. I especially followed more recently your escapades on the Vstrom 1050 which I’ve enjoyed very much, so much so it has got my juices going for one myself. Your trips into Spain have been nothing short of inspirational, and I’ve been riding for over fifty years. I have to say that my off-road experience is virtually nil so would opt for the road biased version which seemed good on the launch you went on. I’d like to know what exhaust you fitted as I’ve place the standard dustbin fitted with it being no more than cosmetic. Keep up the great show. You’re top notch. Best wishes for 2024 John

I've owned both. Sold my BMW to buy the Pan Am and have not been disappointed. BMW has some annoying traits that you did not hit on which have plagued the bike for years. Overall though, I thought your review was well done. The Pan Am is not perfect but neither was the BMW. I'm at 7500 miles now with zero issues. Overall what has impressed me most about the Pan Am is its ability to chew up miles without effort. What impressed me the least about the Pan Am and something Harley really needs to address is the size and placement of the rear tail light. Small and hard to see with full bags on the bike. Borderline dangerous. I rigged aftermarket LED's on my tail box to help with that. Otherwise, good scoot.

Hey Richy, thank you sir. After watching your short vid on the wireless android auto and you provided the links i purchased one. I have not been out on the bike yet but have installed and tested google maps and Spotify (two most important Apps 😊) working like a dream (so thank you). I was wondering if it was waterproof but as you've mentioned seems to be well sealed so the tasting is in the pudding 😊 👍👍👍

Hi Richy, good to hear about the Apple CarPlay dongle. I have a similar device for my car, one thing I did notice, using a iPhone 13 mini, when using nav, the battery runs down quite quickly. But it does work well and well worth it.
I’m currently looking at buy either a AT 1100 or an NT 1100 with CarPlay, so will be buying another dongle. I think I’ll try the one you have bought, as it was cheaper than the one I bought, plus you have confirmed it works on the AT. 👍

I'm the same way, I do not need my phone out at all when I'm riding, I try to escape the phone by riding lol, I have a XT2 on my bike and I have a dedicated ipod just for music, no calls,texts nothing until i stop lol. although that dash is really nice on the AT......sláinte

Another great info video mate 👍. Not being too up to speed tech wise, so this dongle for AA just plugs into a USB port ('23 Tiger 1200 GT Explorer) and then comes up on the TFT or am I missing something here🤔
The screen has to have CarPlay capability. I don’t believe the Tiger has this.

I have a question I purchased a CarPlay wireless dongle last year yep it worked ok but wasn’t very reliable connecting my phone so I could call my wife also couldn’t play my music and have my sat nav give me directions at the same time so be interesting how it preforms
It wasn’t the same make as the one you have purchased be interested in your thoughts after a few weeks using yours
Can’t wait for the info on the big winter trip

I personally have the voice nav off. Just use as a visual. Music comes through beautifully, and controlled via the left switch gear in the bike. It can get complicated, so yeah, I’ll try and make something addressing these points

Have you upgraded the battery recently, and if so, what did you upgrade the battery to, for your VFR?
