    To skip the intro and nation-select, skip to around 6:30 for gameplay.

    Been looking around for a good tutorial playthrough series. Yours stand out the most, for how informative and easy to understand what is going on. Cheers!

    Four years later - thank you! I had a couple of miserable starts since I misunderstood a few important mechanisms. This was a perfect tutorial to get me started, I did a bit of a play along.

    If you already own one of the Paradox games: HOI, CK, Victoria, Stellaris, then with Imperator Rome you get the almost same mechanics only in new wallpaper. With the new, intelligent and fresh ideas, I think you're better off with Field of Glory: Empires.

    • @TortugaPower
      @TortugaPower  4 года назад +1

      That's a fair viewpoint. I like the Paradox games, a lot!, but this certainly feels like something fresh.

      The guy you forgot was Sulla btw, though I think it was Lucullus who finally finished them off

    • @TortugaPower

      Happy to be of service! It's really my pleasure: I find this game a pleasure to play (and record). Consider that a recommendation.
      Sulla, what a giant in Roman history. I distinctly remember him and Marius from the Republic time (lumping Caesar, Pompey, and Crassus into the Empire days). I'm not well-enough read on the subject, seems like a very interesting time in history.

    Ooo, this one looks neat. I'm a sucker for strategy games and this almost (if you squint hard enough) looks like a PDX game crossed with MoO set on ancient earth, and I'm down for all 3 of those.

    • @TortugaPower
      @TortugaPower  5 лет назад

      I would say it's definitely similar to a PDX game (and very similar to Imperator Rome), but turn-based on a yearly rather than daily basis.

      Without needing to rush, I'd say that when you do buy it, you can get many hours of enjoyment out of it. I can see a lot of replayability, and even a single nation is going to take many tens of hours.

    In the endless series(need to see if you've played that) it's F.I.D.S.I. which is short for Food, Industry, Dust(money), Science and, finally Influence. And yeah you could change how many pops were working on what resource.

    • @TortugaPower
      @TortugaPower  5 лет назад

      I've never played any of the Endless titles for my channel (only my own private affairs). I like Endless Space 2, and I keep trying (but failing) to get a long game going in Endless Legend, but it somehow doesn't keep my attention. I think there's a high entry barrier because of the very diverse starting civilizations you can choose, and gameplay is significantly impacted by your choice (unlike the Civ series).

    • @Freezezonian
      @Freezezonian 5 лет назад

      @@TortugaPower Yeah I have kinda the same problem with endless legends, I start games but It's been a while sense I last finished one. I think the trick to that is to immerse yourself into some roleplay and the story and everything. I fell in love with the series because of the story bits and art style. Also thanks for showing this game off. It looks interesting. I'll have to watch a bit and see what I think of it.

    About that Tortuga luck - whenever I play games with this underlying system, like Pike & Shot Campaigns, I get the most ridiculous results and I always feel the odds are heavily stacked against me. Might be I suck, but in my impression the Tortuga luck is built into the engine. You always need overwhelming odds to come out even.

    Hi, i like this series, pls explain what happens if you hit non-Hellenic people. The decadence debuff, what does that mean? is it permanent? Is the the rise in decadence worth acquiring the territory, so just go for it, or it limits you?
    Lastly, is it possible to turn map your color, or it is more of a score, or culture or diplomatic victory? The main reason i am asking is because in history greek killed each other, that was their fall. So if decadence prevents conquest of others, is it fairly possible to unite the greek diplomatically, or you have to chance civil war wont ruin greece?

    • @TortugaPower
      @TortugaPower  5 лет назад +1

      This nation gets a bonus in that they don't take the normal decadence penalty for conquering other Greek regions
