- Can I beat Pokemon Leaf Green using ONE Pokémon of Each type? And its a Hardcore Nuzlocke!
Nuzlockes are a way to limit the number of pokemon you can catch in a pokemon game. But let's take that one step further, and limit my catches to One Pokemon Per Type. I imagine this will make things quite a bit more diffiuclt. Let's find out!

In the Kanto remakes, Butterfree learns compound eyes sleep powder while also having access to substitute and dream eater from the in-game tutors. It’s honestly cracked
He gets even better in gen 5 after quiver dance!
@@NuzlockeJoeWell by then you don't even need Dream Eater anymore. Special Bug & Flying moves are available lol.
Sleep Powder, QD, & Bug Buzz would be effective enough alone
Butterfree my glorious king
Compound eyes sleep powder is not a real move 😂
@amadorcortinas2749 go get yourself a cookie
I actually play like this in every game without the nuzlock, i like doing this mostly for type coverage and so my team isn't repetitive. This also gives me chance to use pokemon i never use normally.
I typically don't have repeat types in a general playthrough, but that just means I replace the ones I don't like with the ones I do once I get them. I tend to get stuck and keep using the same teams every time that way though
I don't know man, if that Butterfree has The ability that boosts accuracy, sleep powder dream eater is a sweeper.
Yeah dream eater is a solid choice, not that Butterfree gets hurt that much.
RIP Lil Bug you were the GOAT of the run along side Toothy Rat may you both rest peacefully knowing you fought hard until the end
Gen 3 Butterfree really knows how to shine
@@NuzlockeJoeI love Butterfree
13:39 Quiver dance is too strong.
Yup this can easily become a series, great work!
This is actually the third time i've done this type of run. I did the Johto and Kanto regions of Soul SIlver, but that would have been a year ago at this point. Maybe more
Bulbasaur, Pidgey and Geodude are good to start with, that's 6 types covered with just 3 Pokémon. Add Lapras, Magnemite and Abra and you have 11 types covered with a full team.
Fascinating Nuzlocke Video!
I honestly agree with you "needing to add Sneasel & the one ghost" ... It added a slight dramatic effect into this video and enjoyed this. Nice Work!
Well thanks! Even being a somewhat faithful remake, they could have added an extra ghost or two, and maybe a single dark type?
This was definitely a great format!
I did a pokemon yellow run with similar rules, a few years ago except trainer battles also locked in the pokemon I could catch.
So for example, pikachu was my electric, eevee was my normal (which eliminated all the normal/flyers and zapdos, this along with the route I took ensured my flying would be Articuno).
It was a fun run
That's a much better flying encounter than I got! Not to hate on buterfree, but he's no articuno.
Poor politoad😢
I know right, that was so sad.
5:20 if you were using repels to get through, you might have accidentally repel tricked.
Basically its when you get your team to the same level range as the highest level available pokemon in the grass. Then you use a repel to guarantee that you wont get any other pokemon as repels only work on those that are lower level than you.
Since diglett was lower level than your pokemon but dugtrio could be higher, it guaranteed that if you used a repel you would only get dugtrios.
Edit: 9:53 looks like he knew about it already. I'm not going to delete the comment though for those who didn't know this info.
This is very good info if you want a specific encounter in a nuzlocke btw
Yeah I do know about repel manipulation. That being said, my understanding is that for diglett tunnel, since the only viable encounter was a rare Dugtrio, I would likely not get an encounter anyway. Thats how it normally goes there.
@@NuzlockeJoe I see. My bad for assuming you didn't know
1:24 You mean will force, and 9:45 can surf. Otherwise great video.
2:31, 2:51, 3:04 Strategy.
He said uneventful rival battle at the beginning bc he lost lmao. That bulbasaur is level 5 during the first wild Pokémon eoncounter
Where the fairies at? I know the whole duel type thing but i woulda allowed it
Also: ice weasel 😂
lmaooo the politoad, i made a nuslocke for myself for fun called a "softcore nuslocke" same rules as hardcore but you can choose your encounter each route (not interested in running a pidgey rattata caterpie every run) and you can revive pokemon with revives u get as item drops (aka in a pokeball only) not hidden items or shops. that usually gives u 2-3 revives throughout the run. the reason i did this was because i caught a growlithe, grinded game corner for flamethrower and wide lens for fire blast. sent it out to train on wild pokemon then literally first battle it got crit and died to something stupid and i just quit for a few months
Oh man, that sucks. One benefit of cheating in rare candies is that I don't need to grind nearly as much. Of course there still are plenty of dangerous trainers, and apparently dugtrio too.
Sick idea! Loved the video
I would love to see a similar run with a more difficult rom hack while also having a greater assortment of Pokémon!
I could certainly try it, but for ROm Hacks I typically lose more Pokemon than this one, so that would be a tough choice.
Ngl I loved the previous video like this. What's the challenge called? my brain wants to say Monotype but that's the opposite haha
I don't know if it has an official name, maybe you could come up with one!
Nice idea again! Lets go Joe
Sneasel:shadow ball jitsu
RIP Politoed, he deserved better 😭😂 Love these unique nuzlockes!! 🫶
Yeah he did, I really messed that one up
Bye bye, Butterfree… 🫡
Goodluck on the nuzlocke!!!
Thanks
Loved this run cool Pokémon run
W and nice video keep it up
Thank you!
Babe wake up!!! My goat poasted a video!!! 🗣️🗣️❗️❗️🗣️🗣️❗️🗣️
These nicknames! 😂
My favourites were Toothy Rat and Three Head 😂.
Sometimes I get lazy, and just name them the first thing that comes to mind.
Nice vid but sneasel is just too op for kanto imo. it just trivializes psychic types(most importantly alakazam) so it shouldnt be used but I know its your rules and you should do whatever you want
That is true but literally all dark types are immune to Alakazam
Is this refrence from undefeatle butterfree in regionatol nuzlocke
A difficult task!
Cool video
Thanks!
But without dark there would be more death
Giving yourself Sneasel seems fine, using it to counter psychic types in a game not designed for them, not so cool.
Wheeeeeeee!!
Rocky Rock
Bro you forgot about fairy type
Actually, that was game freaks fault. They forgot to put fairy type into any of the games until gen 6. So blame them.
You could have used Jynx instead of Mr Mime, you would have covered Psychic and Ice, didn't have to cheat in the sneasel
Yeah thats true, but Jynx is a much later encounter, unless I trade a water type for it, and I didnt feel like that was ok.
@NuzlockeJoe understandable, but you now sacrificed the Poliwhirl/Politoed within 5 sec anyway 😂
W first
I will always remember Punch Monk 🫡
