I'd love a lb with all three channels too but I'd assume that they'd have to make the amp a bit bigger to fit the tubes for the 3rd channel. They'd probably also need to add more knobs if they wanted to keep the volume and gain controls independent for each channel.
I have 4 amps (evh, 6505,rectifier and MT15) and this one is still my favorite, I did a stealth mod on this one so it sounds a little more modern and better at the low end...
Always liked this LBX amp. I sold mine once I got some captures from nam. So even tho I miss the amp itself. I still have all the goodness from it. Along with many more I can't afford. lol Great video neil
@Ninecore Neil nam is the new free profiling/capturing program that's getting quite popular. In null testing its proving even more accurate than Kemper, tone x, quad cortex, etc.
Hey Neil! I am curious about the LBX and the LBX ii… I just got rid of the LBX stealth because I was underwhelmed! your video is making me really want the original!! is it much better than the LBX ii. I am a metal guy. is it worth getting the first one and sacrifice the cleans? Is the blue channel Ballsier on the first one? I already know what the red can do.
@@NinecoreNeil thanks a lot for the response! I’m trying to buy one of these heads off reverb brand new, and they seem to have groove tubes in them which I do not like!!!! i’m wondering if they come stock with JJ‘s?
@@bobwalters9151 hmmmm I’ll have a check tomorrow some of my EVH do have groove tubes but I’ve had that many I can’t remember which ones do and which don’t
I have only two mini heads and these are the two. The EVH is brighter and just rips. The 6505 MH is warmer and very full sounding. In my opinion neither need a boost. Great stuff Neil.
The lbx1 throws tones! It is deceptively loud for something so itty bitty. W the volume overly high, its transformers do show what all small tubes (6v6 n el84) end up doing-dramatic character change. You can EQ a bit of that out, but not to the point that it isn't there since it is a manifestation of a physical process. We also need to remember that volume influences tone-the Fletcher curves are real. The EQ settings at 1/4 volume are not those at half, 2/3s, 3/4s and full volume. Far too many YTers are oblivious to this real event. I am NOT referring to Neil!
Yes, im interested in the comparison between the amped 2 and the 5150 mk1.
Riffs & tones crushing 🤘
I love this little beast, boosted blue is where I live with this thing.
All day mate

Love your channel..curious which lbx do you prefer between this and lbx-s?
Thanks buddy Lbx 1 👍
Thanks for the response..I've owned the 5150, 5153 50 watt (lived on Blue with a boost) and a 6505 plus..going to snatch this up for my home studio

I’ll have to checkout the mods for them

Yeah I almost sold this amp a couple of months ago phew close shave that one haha
How are you monitoring the captures? Studio monitors? Cab?
I've found some nam captures to be astoundingly good while others have been horrific.
@@WholeLottaBulldog captures?

Maybe should try it I guess

@@bobwalters9151 the head is definitely ballsier imo
It’s not as compressed and more of a raw tone

Nice amp the lbx, no doubt. Have you ever tried the 6505mh, Neil?
If so, thoughts?
Yeah only briefly I wasn’t that keen tbh

which sounds better at low bedroom volumes: the lbx, or the 50w 6l6 head?
