Fantastic stuff. I live in California, but have always had an affinity for Pittsburgh, even though I have never actually visited, dang it! Love the Italian section and I am sure the people are terrific. More Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania. Great episode.
I grew up in Pittsburgh, and every weekend we could we went to the strip. PennMac was always the first stop on our list. Ahhh, the smells! Bread, cheese, meats, olives, pasta, olive oil, we have nothing like this in Arizona. I've flown back to Pgh just to go to the strip.
Love this series!!!! I hope you make more!!🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹 You have an incredible voice, so talented! And it was so awesome you got to have Sunday dinner with Jimmy & his family!🤩
Congrats to Sal, my favourite Italian, for touring the theaters throughout the US. I love the italian vibes,... like the old grandma´s of my hometone in Austria who kept the families together back in the day,.. good old days,.. sad those women are gone. Keep up your great work, showing a beautiful side of America and making people smile! Cheers
Don’t forget the Polish 🤣 yinzz should have stopped in Mancini’s in Mckees Rocks the history is amazing in Pittsburgh that’s why the food is good. Polish-Sicilian American ❤️ both of my parents are from Pittsburgh
My family and the Wodarek family have been friends for a LONG time. My grandpa and jimmys grandpa served in the army together in Germany!!! Super cool to see Sal hanging out with the whole family! I instantly texted Jim after seeing this!!!
My Nonna still lives on Valera Ave in Carrick…when I say I grew up Italian…this is my Italian. And knowing Jimmy “Big Muscles” is Calabrese…hits home more than seeing Penn Mac cause my family is from Calabria and no one knows what vrascioli is or appreciates it!
RUclips suggested this video and so glad I clicked and watched!! I am a 65 year old Italian American woman that grew up in an Italian immigrant community in Bristol, R.I. where many of the Italian immigrants including my maternal grandparents came from Manfredonia in the Province of Foggia where they fished for a living which included my family. So much of what you showed in this video brought back many fond memories of my childhood. Most of my family lived in tenement apartments, and when the 1st family members being my great Aunt Carmella and Uncle Arthur were able to purchase a single family home with a basement that had a kitchen the whole family celebrated as that is where most of the family functions would take place from then on especially our Christmas Eve celebration. Coming from a commercial fishing family we had more like the Feast of the Fifty Fishes and most of the fish dishes were cooked in and eaten in Aunt Carmella's basement kitchen and as a result we all smelled like fish for days LOL. Thanks for the memories. 🥰
Relatives not too far from Foggia, I've visited Foggia a couple of times, my relatives from further up north very near Termoli, quiet area, untainted almost, I've visited there 20 times so far
Incredibile vedere le famiglie Italiane, nonni zii cugini figli tutti insieme anche in America e così fieri di essere Italiani. Forse sono piu' Italiani loro oggi che noi qui in Italia
I've dealt with Penn Mac for many years when I ran a pizza shop, they are great people and have the best products. I've never heard of Dom's, even though Ive been in the area forever, and a very good friend lives in Trafford. I will check them out! And i'm the 1k like of this video!! lol
Ok Sal, after watching this and wishing I was closer to that Italian heritage, (I'm on the west coast of Canada), I have one question. How can there possibly be any skinny Italians? When you are surrounded by this much great food, how can anyone not be fat and sassy? 🤣🤣 I just found this series watching one of your interviews. Brilliant idea, and keeps you out there where people can see you. Not to mention we can find some great Italian food!! Diners, Drive-ins and Dives for people that love Italian food and great music!! Thank you!1
it's all about HOW you eat an not necessarily what you eat..Anything in moderation an maybe even a lil more can't really be to bad for you..I was in Pitt for a Steelers game last year, an really wanted to hit their little Italy, which I'm guessing is the strip they're on here? I wasn't able to make it , but you can bet yer ass I'll be back soon..Thanks for the vid an info
For all Italian American, I'm kinda proud that even after few generations you like to call yourself Italian... Greetings from Italy 🇮🇹.. and let me tell you something, that's a good pizza
I saw your video in Little Italy NY. I’m 80 and my dream to live in Little Italy. If you know of a nice fellow who would like a roommate for company, laughter, let me know.
No Italians other than American Italians act in this manner. These kinds of inflections tones mannerisms are purely American not Italian. It's all so Sporanos...😅😅😅😅😅
@@geoffoaklandyup, I’m aware and my in-laws are from there and still live there. This person stated there are no Italian neighborhoods left which isn’t entirely true.
Right, a lot of people from the east coast (NYC, Philly, Jersey, etc.) are often shocked when I tell them that Pittsburgh had, and still has, a considerable italian population. I guess they think they all settled on the eastern seaboard, but tons of them went west of the mountains in the early 20th century.
Yes, there are. Franco Harris of course, and then his Italian Army created by local Italian Americans !! There are a couple of films set in Pittsburgh's Little Italy: Dominick & Eugene starring Ray Liotta and A Wedding For Bella starring Scott Baio. Ciao e buona giornata, amici!

Guys like that go far out of their way to be the stereotype Italian. Almost embarrassing to many of us
most of the irish ytalians etc left Western Pa starting in 1965 There are no Italian neighborhoods left pal
None at all? You're positive of that? sure, they aren't what they were, but to say there's none left isn't true.
@@Runescape_God the Bloomfield neighborhood is Pittsburgh's Little Italy...it's still there.
