There is no real reason for it to keep the forced 500ms of animation lock after using a skill, which is what some mods like xivalexander fix allowing people to double weave in high latency. Ultimately it's more of a joke/hope that the new version will fix the problems with the original game

I don't know still if I'll try the mobile version, but I'm still paying attention because I have a theory that they're using this to test out ideas in how to revamp the standard FFXIV's jobs and combat system which they said they plan to do in 8.0. The fact many of these jobs are using abilities that didn't exist when ARR originally came out, or completely new abilities to begin with and a new input system suggests to me at least that they're acknowledging that many of the current jobs are too gutted at earlier levels.
It is worth keeping in mind that this is a different team entirely in charge of the mobile version. While it is possible that the main FFXIV dev team has worked with them and/or will take notes in regards to the things done here, it's likely that a lot of these decisions were made by that other team alone.
some how i don't think this will be the case, while i know 8.0 is the revamp of job identity the mobile version just doesn't have the limitations that the main retail game does
for those who asking, there is still positional ring around enemy, so basically you still can move around but in this they just want to show how spell/skill work
It's wild how many assumptions people are making about the shortest of clips. It's literally just like any other job skill trailer that they show off before an expansion release, where they're not playing at all like actual gameplay. The original trailer was even just like a basic benchmark trailer, like beat for beat.
Funny enough, I think we technically do 'have' every single one of those abilities. At least in name. I think Elixir Field has a completely different animation (and this one honestly is a lot cooler) and probably effect. I'm not sure what the rapid multi-punch attack was supposed to line up with either.
@@NajaSide They never have aoes show up on those trailers though, it's usually just enemies acting as dummies. It felt really cheap that they didn't remove the aoes on this one and still made the characters not move. I admit I found it a bit triggering :X

Nah, not SSD. If its damage is removed, then why the attack animation at all? Rather, change the dash they now have's animation to be a forward jump, kinda like Elusive Jump(the backflip). Or make it look like High Jump, but no hitting animation. Also, same for DRK's damaging gap closing attack changed into a dash. This one also looks bad, and should be changed. Ofc, can't bring back the sick flip attack they did because they don't hit anymore, but definitely something that looks better than what we have in game.
I think some of the attack and particle effects on the skills look better in some areas, like the particle effects on black mage's thunder. But otherwise it looks pretty rigid in movement.
I feel a deep pit of sorrow in my heart in knowing that the animations for the damned mobile version look better than the animations in the actual game.

snapping into place? is it your first skill job trailer? they always never move as they are only showing the different skill, the only moment they ever move is when necessary. i did see scholar having the sprint lvl 90 skill icon though so odd they didnt showcase it. @@storm99_ i agree some skill looks better in this mobile version than base game, that drg one that gets a line of blue spike from the ground is cool, dont remember it being in the pc on pvp (which is where class usualy get new looking stuff)

Huh, this actually looks pretty nice. I wonder how big of a community this will draw online? The story of FF14 is great, and if they can add voice lines for Mobile, then with this style of combat it can draw in a lot of people. Needs more movement though, everyone is standing still and not dodging.

So some changes that they made for SCH and WHM are kinda funny. Sch's Recitation gave 1 aetherflow stack, and the recit effect doesnt have any timer until it used (and casting Indom still cost 1 aetherflow instead of making it free). The Aetherflow button beside giving you 3 aetherflow, it also gave you dissipation-like buff that changes the button into Art of War II BUT RANGED! Every fairy action eats some portion of the fairy gauges also. Rip Sacred Soil Whm's Red lilies (Afflatus Misery) has different timer than the Blue lilies (Afflatus Rapture), Misery will be an extra dps button rather than eating 3 lilies. But in the Video Lamimi uses Rapture but the blue lily doesnt get eaten, so maybe its some new freecure? lol Holy loses its Stun effect seems :o Rip Asylum

@@MasterNix ninja was added post ARR because of time constraints and because they could not get it ready in time so they added it around the tail end of ARR and the reason why ninja could not be added to the character creator is because there isnt enough memory left on that screen to have it included there, I dont know if its like that these days aswell but thats the reason that was given few years back
2 thing I'm pretty sure I use more than 9 spells on my hot bar also they need to get rid of that basic attack icon taking too much space , tell me who uses basic attacks
The core combat mechanics are probably different here to facilitate less skills and I imagine the basic attack button is probably all of the classes core attack skill /weapon combo rolled into one button

Who knows, but with how much they charge for mounts that are easily 3 times the sub price, main FF14 alone can keep this alive forever. It might get people to invest in a PC or console to play the real thing

Dragon Quest X (another of SE’s mmos) also is on mobile and it uses its own sub for that so I don’t see why they wouldnt do that for this mobile version of FFXIV
look at how much genshin impact and gran blue fantasy make every month just toss some cosmetics a battle pass and maybe a mount into a shop and make millions easily, mobile games are huge in eastern markets and the stigma about spending money really isn't a thing
The shorter cooldowns and fewer abilities like that PvP has is what I think the game should be focusing on more generally, so I'm glad to see at least one iteration of it doing that. The 2-minute meta has been a bane on the combat in this game, making any encounter outside of scripted boss battles a complete snooze fest or unsatisfying. You can't use the lv100 kit in any meaningful way in the open world, everything just melts in 1-2 hits and so there is no interaction with your kit, which is already super bloated.
If the mobile game lastss that long, it may not even have a 2 minute meta. unlike the main game which is hard coded the way it is, this has the ability to do whatever they want with it
I'm still genuinely shocked they released and even hyped up the absolute slop that was the summoner rework. Even more shocked that most of the community accepted it with joy.

maybe wishful thinking, definitely wild speculation, but i wonder if this is the devs trying to solve the “1.0 spaghetti code” problem in the main game. maybe part of 14s next 10-year plan is to create this new build of 14, slowly upgrade and update it until they’ve reached full feature parity with the main game, and then they have a less janky build of 14 they can move people over to. gone would be the days of “well we can’t implement X because spaghetti code. it would break too much.”
this isn't even made by square enix. its a totally different company, simply given a license and BACKED by square enix (aka squares name is on it and they make the big money, but the other company gets a good chunk)
I feel like the animations could need some work, personally, I think some of skills and abilities shown here are a little stiff. I think would be better if they have enough time before release to brush up on the animations to give the illusion that they flow together like how some abilities in the PC/Console client look like they do.
This is very hype for me still, BUT i truly hope they do the whole "skill wheel" thing most mobile mmos do, cuz ngl, if this is all the classes will do, it sort of looks *too* repetitive and simple
How does Mobile work again? Is it its own thing not tied to the main servers? So it can't cross play like PlayStation / XBox / PC. Then, what does attack do? I know I haven't played for a long time, but I think FFXIV still doesn't have Normal attack combos.

Many people in China and other countries outside the west/north play mobile games more often than on console or desktop. Those that do play on desktop- particularly in China -usually have to use a gaming vpn in order to play with everyone else (being that their version has for a long time lagged behind on the patches and expansions).

2 thing I'm pretty sure I use more than 9 spells on my hot bar also they need to get rid of that basic attack icon taking too much space , tell me who uses basic attacks
The core combat mechanics are probably different here to facilitate less skills and I imagine the basic attack button is probably all of the classes core attack skill /weapon combo rolled into one button
Can we transfer our data from the main game? Like I at least want my lalafel even if he's reset in level
The question is, hpw does SE make some money here if there's no monthly sub? There will be a cash shop for sure but what are they selling besides mounts and cosmetics?
you ever play genshin? maybe they'll do resin/recharging currency for non-msq content so you can only run the content so much, as well as cosmetics. as this is supposed to be a collaborative game, unsure if they'd do something like weapon gacha lol maybe for cosmetics too but mostly i can see the dungeon lockouts costing some kind of daily resource being the most likely
Who knows, but with how much they charge for mounts that are easily 3 times the sub price, main FF14 alone can keep this alive forever. It might get people to invest in a PC or console to play the real thing

First: They only have mobile phone to play games especially people from Asia
Second: They don’t have PC or enough money to buy one.
There will be a cash shop for sure and the main FF14 alone is not funding all of these the entire time. Once this mobile game is released, the PC gamers will decrease that is for sure.
Dragon Quest X (another of SE’s mmos) also is on mobile and it uses its own sub for that so I don’t see why they wouldnt do that for this mobile version of FFXIV
look at how much genshin impact and gran blue fantasy make every month just toss some cosmetics a battle pass and maybe a mount into a shop and make millions easily, mobile games are huge in eastern markets and the stigma about spending money really isn't a thing
The shorter cooldowns and fewer abilities like that PvP has is what I think the game should be focusing on more generally, so I'm glad to see at least one iteration of it doing that. The 2-minute meta has been a bane on the combat in this game, making any encounter outside of scripted boss battles a complete snooze fest or unsatisfying. You can't use the lv100 kit in any meaningful way in the open world, everything just melts in 1-2 hits and so there is no interaction with your kit, which is already super bloated.
Tbh PvP is the only part of the game that I even find to be remotely fun anymore when story isnt a factor.
If the mobile game lastss that long, it may not even have a 2 minute meta. unlike the main game which is hard coded the way it is, this has the ability to do whatever they want with it

but i wonder if this is the devs trying to solve the “1.0 spaghetti code” problem in the main game.
maybe part of 14s next 10-year plan is to create this new build of 14, slowly upgrade and update it until they’ve reached full feature parity with the main game, and then they have a less janky build of 14 they can move people over to.
gone would be the days of “well we can’t implement X because spaghetti code. it would break too much.”
this isn't even made by square enix. its a totally different company, simply given a license and BACKED by square enix (aka squares name is on it and they make the big money, but the other company gets a good chunk)

I feel like the animations could need some work, personally, I think some of skills and abilities shown here are a little stiff. I think would be better if they have enough time before release to brush up on the animations to give the illusion that they flow together like how some abilities in the PC/Console client look like they do.

How does Mobile work again? Is it its own thing not tied to the main servers? So it can't cross play like PlayStation / XBox / PC. Then, what does attack do? I know I haven't played for a long time, but I think FFXIV still doesn't have Normal attack combos.
Not crossplay, nor same game, it is own thing with an MSQ reimagination for mobiles

Money
Many people in China and other countries outside the west/north play mobile games more often than on console or desktop. Those that do play on desktop- particularly in China -usually have to use a gaming vpn in order to play with everyone else (being that their version has for a long time lagged behind on the patches and expansions).
To tap the mobile market in sea regions. Also the main game having monthly subs is what's putting a lot of people away from the game.
