Not going to happen, unfortunately the people who were gunna play h2m we’re already doing that before we make up such a small majority and we were already not spending money on bundles in the newer cods before this even happened, there’s plenty of content creators go to voice their opinion on Activision so unfortunately it would do nothing even though I wish we could do something they make all their money off of little kids who rely on their mom’s credit card, their birthday money, and just casual gamers who don’t play enough to care that’s the reality and they’re making more money than ever since there a business profits all they care about. At this point they made it abundantly clear.

If there's any lesson to learn from the takedown of H2M (and SM2 before it), it's the following:
*_Do NOT publish any information about any modding projects until AFTER you release the final product to the public._*
*No teasers. No screenshots. No trailers.* *_No loose ends for the suits to grab a hold of and strangle your project with._*
Keep it 100% under wraps until release. That way, players and archivers can at least download and back up essential files that can be salvaged.

The thing is, most current mainstream COD players probably weren't even born when the original MW2 was released.
I was a young boy maybe 3 when the original was released and eventually played custom matches with my cousins and god did it feel good and quite competitive

You can absolutely get a refund if you have more than 2 hours. Just say in the refund request you purchased in anticipation of the H2M mod releasing and that it is no longer releasing and in turn unable to be played. Valve is very consumer oriented and will give you the refund

I got Cod 2023 because of the classic maps returning, and it was the closest we had gotten to a old school cod in like 10 years. I enjoyed it for like 3 days. Then dropped it and never touched it again. But other than that my last one was Advanced Warfare thats how much I hate modern CoD. I got and would rather play Advanced Warfare than this new stuff. I aint even going near BO6 and I cant wait to see their servers DDosd the entire opening week

Reminds me of another community project that got a C&D at the last second. Damnnatus was a 40k fan film that got official permission, that was rescinded after final editing was done. The creators proceeded to tell everyone about that, and then mention the IP address of the server the finished film was on, while saying they hope no one hacks them and takes it, but that they can't do anything about it if it does happen. That's how it became widespread.

The files leaked and loads of people are playing right now. We have the server tools and the main files for the mod. All we are missing are the campaign maps that were remade into multiplayer maps, but we have all the main MW2 maps from back in the day! The links are being spread around all over the place right now. We hope to get this out to as many people as possible over the coming days. Can't post links on YT because your comment gets removed. I have to say the mod is FIRE!!!! The team did an absolutely perfect job on this mod! But we still have to fight back so we can get more mods in the future without having to worry about them getting taken down. We hold power as a unit against these companies and we can create enough pushback as a community to make them walk back any decision. By creating hashtags, making videos, @ing them, canceling preorders, review bombing, stop buying microtransactions, stop playing the most recent cod games so the player population drops and last but not least PLAYING THE MOD THEY DON'T WANT US TO PLAY AND MAKING VIDEOS ON IT. These companies depend on us and our money and time. WE PAY WE SAY. Their biggest fear is that we all recognize this and come together to cause some damage. When the mod "sm2" was taken down and when it mattered the most NO ONE SPOKE UP. Let's not have that happen again. Now is the time to fight and create some noise! Lets get this mod out and have people play it and make videos on it! We can hit them where it hurts!

The decision of greedy Activision is understandable, and not even in the context of copyright, the main point is that you can't put cases in the original MW2, and everyone will go there to play and have fun, not to buy cases, and Activision is not interested in player satisfaction, they are interested in selling sets and packs. Bastards.
A better move would have been to simply hire the modders and or buy their modified game. Obviously they are doing something you’re too incompetent to do.
They have an official MW2 remastered sitting on shelves, they don't want to release it on purpose because they know the community would enjoy it way too much, so there wouldn't be any reason to buy the next game, just like what happened with BO2 and Ghosts. They purposely keep avoiding community feedback and only fulfilling a couple of requests so they can save other requests for the next games and use them to generate hype and give you a reason to buy the game. They will never make a game so good that you don't have to buy the next one. This is how they make the most money.

6:18 I thought when it came to copyright or anything in relation, the holders to the rights only had the right to shut down any use of their copyright if profit was being made off of it. Like, isn't that the whole point of having copyrights, to prevent wrongful profit without permission from the rights-holders? Its the same game as Digimon Masters Online but its a private server that removed a chunk of the P2W features of DMO and now has a higher player count than DMO itself. There are plenty of games with private servers that have. Hell look at WoW Ascension. That is a private server for WoW that is constantly posting ads and getting more players and Blizzard didn't shut them down. The problem is just Activision

I think the "protecting copyright" argument is complete bullshit and just a bunch of gas lighting to try and make the situation less bad. If Activision really had to do this to "protect their copyright" they wouldn't have mod tools available for BO2 or WaW. Then there's other IPs that have massive mod support like Baldurs Gate 3, Skyrim and Fallout. A massive mod that literally turns Fallout 4 into a completely new game under the Fallout IP just launched and Bethesda is supporting them. If Activision claims they have to protect their IP, or else they lose the copyright, then Bethesda lost copyright to their beloved Fallout and Skyrim years ago.

Competing directly with their current titles. Tons of mw3 pc players would drop the current game in a heartbeat and go play H2M if it actually launched. This makes sense from a business standpoint. However putting the game on sale and then pulling the plug last second is very messed up. They should’ve let people know from the get go this wasn’t happening.

Alright now I’m done. Unfortunately I was giving in, consistently putting more money into the new cods, but that ends today. No more battle passes, no more store bundles, no more new games. My issue isn't the C&D, it's the fact they waited till less than 24hrs before it was meant to come out to inform them. The modders obviously knew it was a risk, but why did they wait till the last second? This mod has been known for ages, they could have done them a solid and just informed them from the off it was a no-go. The silence from Activision just kept giving everyone a false sense of security it seems and they've done the worst possible thing they could have out of a tough scenario. Communication costs nothing.

There is a silver lining here, there has been rumor of the "classic" call of dutys getting getting Halo MCC treatment. This could be similar to when Microsoft shut down Eldewrito back in the day. 2 years later we got MCC on PC.
