I have Lego sets which are 5 year old and the sticker look like new. Never had any problem with stickers. They just need relativ constant temperature and not too much humidity.
I feel like LEGO is getting way too greedy with their pricing for a lot of sets, which is why I've somewhat fallen off of the hobby as of recent due to how difficult sets are becoming to purchase. I really hope sooner than later LEGO gets a slap of reality and start pricing sets at a more reasonable pricepoint. Great review nonetheless, keep up the great vids.
This is exactly why I watch reviews for sets I'm interested in. The price was already crazy, but after seeing the price per piece and number of stickers, this is one I'm easily passing on.
Thanks for the review. Was contemplating picking this up when I see it on sale but based on your review will definitely stay clear of this one now. Too many stickers and a weak base definitely puts me off. Will stick with the SW line up for now..
I just picked up the quin jet that was 700 to 800 pieces for 70$ and it's nice looking. I would never touch this for 80$ and sub 400 pieces with the stickers.
I agree, this set is over priced, especially with all of those stickers. Wouldn't be so bad if they had printed the tiles for the runway. Lego has printed more complicated designs previously so I'm not sure why they couldn't print some run way lines!.. Like the set but this one will need to go on sale for me to purchase. Thank you for reviewing and giving us your thoughts.
I kind of like the use of a tile for the plaque instead of the usual one, it’s clean, but I do like the one with studs more, it just shows like it’s Lego. On the plaque
You’re not being too harsh. So many large stickers representing crucial features of the vehicle are just criminal. I wouldn’t even pay 20 bucks for this PoS, even though they got the overall shape/silhouette right.
The sticker issue - especially from a cost perspective to Lego - should not be an issue at all….. It’s one thing if the stickers were lots of varieties with lots of colour and complex designs……but it is mainly monochrome - mainly white lines and a few yellow - with one logo - which I imagine would be a lot cheaper to produce. Although I’ve said it before, Lego has REALLY cheaper out on this one - it SHOULD have come with printed pieces for the surface.
I don't think the amount of stickers is due to cost. Lego loves to pretend they are "child-friendly", so anything military is a no-go for them (ignore ALL the sets they did with Idiana Jones, or the ancient wild west theme, there are no soldiers in Lego, we swear!!!11!! /s). If they dropped this set with the flightdeck fully printed you could probably remodel it easily into something like USS Midway. (And that's a BIG no-no, think of the children! /s)
@@peerschulz2029 sorry no, not only do I not agree, your post doesn't even make a great deal of sense. You are saying if the all the pieces were printed not stickered, someone may build a warship out of the pieces - would that not be the same issue (if it were an issue) if they were stickers? I know Lego generally avoid militaria due to their child-friendly ethics, but stickers over printed tiles would not prevent someone making something else out of them - that was the original idea of Lego after all. Simply, they use stickers over printed tiles, because it is cheaper. Thats it - don't over-think it.
We need a playset Helicarrier based off this design. Doesn't need to be in scale but big enough to put quite a few figures on. $250 should enough fora fun version that isn't just for display.
I think it could have been 60 but, It's definitely worth it compared to the £279 helicarrier that i couldn't afford back in 2012, now its like £550 so its still worth buying this 2024 version over the previous one. Obviously the size and build/mini figures makes the 2012 version a greater set but for someone/fans who don't have that kind money or space this desktop/paper weight version at 80 is FANTASTIC. If stickers were prints and it had a function to spin all the turbines with a nob/gear, 80 would then be more palatable.
Well, the size and details of this model are great actually. I like this mid size category models like the Millemium Falcon or the Tantive IV we had for Lego Star Wars recently. But 80 bucks for only a few parts plus lots of stickers and its only sold via Lego and a few exclusive retailers, which means no discount is a no go for me, unfortunately... If the runway and other parts were printed i could at least reason the price for me, but the way that it is - no, not this time.
My biggest issue with this set, it’s that it’s completely missing the big front-facing window on the underside. You know, the one that leads into the big command center. The shaping is kind of there, but it’s just a grey curve with no detail.
actually my biggest complaint with the blockade runner is how tight the display stand is, super difficult to take the model off the stand for swooshing or photography, the simpler mechanism is a plus for me. Price and stickers are awful though
@@Gundamfan24k-wr4mv in my experience at least the new design for the friction pin is really tight, and it's far more likely for me to separate the set from the brick assembly, then have to pull apart the pin, and put the two ship halves together (sorry if this description is not super clear)
I showed my son this set when it was announced on the Lego website. He's 12 and his first reaction was "$80 for that!?". I said, well the flight deck is all printed pieces, so that's probably how they justified the price point. But now I see, they are all stickers! I hate applying stickers as much as the next guy and this definitely look tedious. $80 is a joke. This set should be $50 max. Will not be buying.
When I first saw it, I thought about maybe getting it if it was $50. But $80?!? The Invisible Hand that I got for $50 has ~50 more pieces, yet costs $30 dollars less. That is a ridiculously overpriced set. Why can't Lego do sets like the Saturn V or Anakin's Jedi Starfighter (2018), which had great prices for the part count.
Thanks for you insights David! Oh boy was I excited when the news came out there would come a midi-scale helicarrier. As a huge Marvel fan (before end game) and someone who missed out on the larger 'ucs' helicarrier, this would be a no-brainer, but when I heard that pricetag and the number of pieces..... I really was gonna wait for a discount as its literally outrageous what they ask for it. Having seen the review, I'm not even sure I will get it, like you said, it feels rushed, unpolished and quite underwhelming. Using stickers myself for mocs frequently I normally wouldn't be too bothered, but having to line up the entire deck??? that's just terrible. This set really isn't worth its price, I would find €55 already pushing it. There are other sets that are more worth my time and money than this one. On paper it was perfect, but the excecution just isn't there unfortunately. Let's hope our feedback comes thru and gets processed into future sets
I really always love your Reviews and your honest opinion. I do like to watch before i decide to buy anything. And those amount of stickers and all really is something for me that i dont going to buy it
I think the complaints about the stickers in this set, the price, and some of it being a bit flimsy are warranted. However, as a display piece, it's excellent. Better looking than the old $300 set I think.
Nice looking model. Thrilled that we have another opportunity to get a helicarrier in Lego! Price tag demotes it from a day 1 buy for me. Will definitely be waiting on a sale.
I have the OG Hellicarrier and the fact that the landing pads aren't printed pieces yet the OG had far larger printed landing pads goes to show the downfall of modern day lego.
Guys I’m a huge Lego fan but these prices are outrageous. We as a Lego fan community need to band together and stop buying sets for a little to make Lego stop with these ridiculous prices and stickers.
I so wanted that big Heli carrier but I just couldn’t justify that level of money on a single set which is silly as down the road I may end up paying far more to get hold of it.
Funny how this midi scale beats out the old "UCS" SHIELD Helicarrier In terms of proportions, colours and overall accuracy However I’d really love to know how they got to the 80€ budget. Those stickers 😱… I already have a bad time just on those Speed Champion sets… And they’re NOT 80€. At least The UCS had all of these printed…
First off, you did a great job on the stickers, you obviously put in the effort to get it right and it looks good. :) But that price for a set this size with so many stickers is nuts. I’m a big mark for the Helicarrier (movies and comics) but there’s no way I’m paying full retail. I don’t even hate stickers but THIS is excessive for a midi scale set.
I was so excited for this set when I heard about it in the rumor mill, but when the set was revealed I lost interest in it. That price ain’t right. Only get it on clearance.
Price and stickers aside, it just looks wrong. It's too short and stubby. Go look at an above shot from the movie when it comes out of the water. The tower is too far forward and the runways front and aft need to be longer. No huge amounts, only four studs, so for the price they could have easily done it.
Saw this at Walmart today. Didn’t get it as I don’t really go for Marvel, but I did see Jedi Bob and Duel on Peridea. Passed on those for the time being, but I grabbed the plum blossom and the chrysanthemum for my sister
I’m so tired of hearing you fully grown children complain about stickers vs printed pieces 😑 Lego is clearly just following the market up charge which is showing up on every product in the USA (can’t fully say what’s going on in the world but I’m sure it’s happening all over the damn place) But seriously just stop complaining about the smallest little things on these sets. And if the price bothers you so much it’s called getting it with a deal one day… or not buying it at all!! The amount of Lego sets I see everywhere online which are half priced are ridiculous, especially considering you people want to sit here and still complain about the smallest and stupidest things possible 😑
Thanks David. I am getting this and this set is another AFOL collector set where they gouge us. Oh and you mean to have one of the turbines the wrong way?
If every single one of those stickers was actually a print, then MAYBE $80 would be a reasonable ask. But for only 500 pieces and that many stickers, that price is a joke.

@@EVA-UNIT-13 Yeah, you just try and use the Lego tool to get the edge of the sticker and carefully put it in place :)
I personally use some tweasers for sticker placement help. If its not lining up right, easy to pull the sticker and try again.
