While the stickers this model has are problematic, there’s also a decal it’s desperately missing imo: There’s nothing to represent the big front-facing window on the underside. That feels important to me, since it’s the main window for the carrier when it’s in the air. It’s the window Nick Fury is always looking out of. The shaping is there, namely the curved light grey piece on the bottom, but no sticker or print to show the actual window. I suspect it would have to be a print because of the curved surface, so that’s probably why they didn’t include it.
8:09 it’s interesting that you do mention plastic model building. Putting the price into perspective, for around the same cost you could also purchase the Master Grade Zeta Gundam Ver.Ka. A kit that, aside from some optional marking stickers, only has stickers for the eyes and miscellaneous sensors/cameras. With the MG Zeta Ver.Ka you end up with a highly detailed, very articulated, and fully transformable figure, as opposed to a grey and black floating brick with the Helicarrier. The main reason that I make this comparison is because the Helicarrier is marketed as an 18+ adult oriented product; if Lego wants to compete in the adult market then they need to give adults something worthwhile for their money
talking about Gunpla, for what this costs you could buy the RG Sinanju, and an action base, and still have about 10 bucks left over. Sinanju is absolutely stunning, with a lot of gold detailing that's molded parts. The only stickers are small details it doesn't even need. It's one you would put on the stand, put it on a shelf, and not touch it except to dust, because it's very fragile even by gunpla standards, but this would be put on a shelf and left too. not discussing the MG because it's more expensive and not "as" good as the RG from a detail standpoint.
@@SO-ym3zs Yeah and just bump up the price even more. Stickers are not the issue. Not saying stickers are a good thing, but implementing this rule would probably disregard a lot of other elements of how Lego does things. Oftentimes there's not really a hard distinction between "play model" and "display model" and Lego probably wants to refrain from actually internally categorizing sets this way. Prints also tend to inflate production costs regardless of whether it's a "display model," and some categories or themes might have more room in their budget than others. As with many things I believe it should be a case-by-case basis. In this case, yes, the stickers are ridiculous. Also, turning every single sticker into a print would make for countless parts in the catalogue that can then be used for little else than the set they were made for, and Lego is very much about the repurposing of parts for other things.
Models/display builds for collectors, especially when the sets are DESIGNED for adults, shouldn’t come with stickers. End of discussion. Edit: The moment I saw the sticker sheet my jaw dropped, absolutely ridiculous, what was Lego thinking…? nvm don’t answer that.

Honest and great review! I wanted this set as midi scale builds to display on the shelf are my jam. But not at this crazy corporate price gouge retail cost. Guess this one will be waiting on the wish list until close to retirement or a huge discount.
The price on this set is absolutely insane. $99.99 for 509 parts vs $89.99 for the 630 part Super Star Destroyer. Both are licensed and the SSD is cheaper and I still think that set is over priced. Plus the SSD has no stickers that will make it look worse because sticking that many stickers on while making them line up is crazy hard. Plus the “Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut Grey Hypercar” is 801 parts and has stickers AND is licensed for $64.99. Like is Disney taking a huge cut? Do different companies take different rates? Or is it Marvel and Star Wars and they think the consumer will just pay more so they make more? Now I love that Super Star Destroyer and I had a great time building it but it is too expensive and I don’t believe the license should be adding this much to the cost.
Agreed. I like the look of it but the price is just ridiculous. I heard another reviewer say that they think Lego set the price similar to the Star Wars midiscale ships but they have a lot more bulk to them. When the designer was making this and it ended up being fewer pieces and a smaller model, Lego should've adjusted the price to match it. I hate the whole thing about how Lego sets the price first so they have to stick to it. If the set ended up being bigger than planned, I guarantee they'd break their rules and bump up the price
@@joevictor53 Or keep the price and since the parts budget was so far under, give us prints instead. I could see this being $75 with prints, so $80 with prints is in the realm of possibility for me.

Jang could you make a video giving your recommendations on how you align your stickers and giving tips to people who are newer to the hobby on how you align them properly etc?
Lego themselves recommend window cleaner. They say on their website that designers said they spray it on pieces and place down the sticker. It allows you to move the sticker around until you're happy
Yes, that would be interesting to watch! I'm not following the build streams on twitch, don't know if he does them there? If so, maybe he could cut out a snippet for an easy solution?
I think it's time to get the engineers at LEGO to work out a solution for ALL prints imo. I think we pay enough for them to afford us that luxury? It saves so much waste plastic/paper as well
Finished build looks very cute! To me at least. Reminded me of a small scale, simplified plastic "model"/toy aircraft carrier (based on real life angled deck cv) I had in my childhood. "Aircraft" in this set are just as if not smaller than the jets that came with that toy... Cool that you can easily hold it by the stand (for swooshing and stuff). Something about the way it looks also reminds me of Designer/Creator sets (of old, I wanna say).
1:47 I wonder if this means transparent black is a new additional color and not a replacement for trans-brown, or if the latter just hasn't been fully phased out yet.
AFOL, I agree with you on the stickers. In general, what tips do you have to apply the stickers? What tools do you use? Can Lego stickers be applied like tinting with soap and water to help with lifting, reapplication and alignment?
just built this last night. LOVE the set but yeah the stickers were a HUGE PAIN and the first time i ever had to use a knife to put them on due to all the lines.
The sticker issue is so bang on. I mean some of the Speed Champions have similar, or more, but unlike those cars these runway patterns aren't that intricate. Those patterns could've been simplified enough to utilise repetition in what, 4 or 5 different print pieces?
Shame for the stickers, still it looks fantastic. It gives even more Macross SDF-1 on that medium; I'm not invested enough to do a full MOC but I may try some quick color swapping for the fun of it.
I remember when this leaked. I was super excited because I’ve wanted a LEGO Helicarrier, especially since I missed out one the UCS one. I was expecting the price to be $40-$50, maybe even $60. But when I saw that it was $80 let alone not having printed pieces for the deck I was happy to pass. If it ever goes on sale I’ll definitely try and pick it up. But never at this price point.
While I was listening to you talk about how hard the stickers are to apply correctly, I was looking at the model and thinking, "Yes, and they DON'T EVEN LOOK GOOD!" In my opinion, stickers rarely ever, IF ever get close to the quality look that printed pieces have. Feels like Lego definitely cheaped out on this one and I will be staying well clear from picking it up.
I do not mind stickers most of time, especially if the quality of the print on a piece will be affected. The Tallneck is where it’s perfectly adequate or even interior cabs for spaceships and cars. However, prints have been worse on some pieces and offset sticker cuts will be a problem. It’s all over the place. Yes, these should have been printed tiles, and they’ve done it with the UCS Helicarrier. More so, it’s on LEGO’s part to do better when it comes to quality control.
I think Lego chose stickers because unlike some other brick brands, they can't apply these prints accurately enough to get aligned properly. Like with the Mustang, and other sets with printed striping
I think $80 is 100000% absurd for sticker placing simulator... but beyond the stickers the models look nice, it's very interesting how the budget for a set like this was made and the set was designed and they still rely almost entirely on stickers for the main focus points...
I know i might be one of very few ppl that have that opinion, but i love the stickers, in fact i mostly prefere stickers cause of 2 things: 1) It makes the build more interesting for me and 2) If u buy the set for parts which i do sometimes its nice to have them not printed. But thats only my opinion. I know a lot of ppl if not most Lego fans would like for stickers to be a thing of the past.
Seeing the minifig on the deck makes me think how cool it would have been if this included a ant man so he looks huge even though he’s just regular minifig size
COMPLETELY AGREE WITH YOU JANG - those stickers look absolutely nightmarish to put on for a normal adult, let alone a kid who might try to get their hands on this. I know for a FACT that I would mess some of those stickers up and not be able to fix them. Price is outrageous for that kind of nightmare and those stickers are a total deal-killer for me.
funny thing is, I think this may be in scale with how Galactus showed up in Lego Marvel Superheroes. I used to play that game religiously. I know it's kind of a niche thing... but it'd be cool if they made a Galactus minifig sometime.
I totally agree with your value assessment. For the price, this thing should be really premium. It's well designed but it doesn't strike me as magical in design, and the stickers are like something out of the playline.
I’m not sure if there’s any truth to this statement, but I feel like Lego used stickers for this Helicarrier because if they printed the parts then it would be far to easy for the prints to come out misaligned, kind of like how the prints are misaligned on the Creator Ford Mustang side detailing. Not saying they made the right or wrong choice, but perhaps that is why. But it does take some enjoyment out of the build, because it is very easy to misaligned stickers, especially when there are so many
It looks so much better from low angle, shame that Lego official images missed out on it. $80 for a painful experience with stickers is too much though, make at least the biggest plates prints.
Thanks for the review. I do think it looks better than the large UCS from the side. Beyond that... Definitely not for me at that price and with all the extra finicky stickers. Just aligning those on the Lamborghini Lambo V12 Vision GT felt horrible and this seems far worse. 😓
You know it's bad when Jang is complaining about the stickers. Other reviewers are often anti-sticker even when they're okay. I don't know what Lego were thinking. I was considering getting this to replace my UCS Helicarrier because it'll take less space but I don't think it's worth the stress of having to line up all those runway stickers. Especially not worth the price. I feel like Lego needs to stop being so firm with the price they set for the designers. If the designers make something smaller than what was planned, don't sell it for that same price. Don't add in a bunch of extra crap to justify that price. Just drop the price down to what you think it should go for. You know for sure if the designers were to say to Lego "we need more parts to get this looking good," Lego would bump up the price to allow for that so why not the opposite?
I was ok with the build it only took me an hr to complete and the stickers were annoying but i persevered with them , the $130 aud cost was a bit rich for the size and i would of like a mini scale quinjet included to justify the cost considering i could buy a minifig scale set for same cost
I really wish Lego would supply an extra set of stickers in their sets for those that have trouble applying stickers. If this goes on sale I will buy it
I'm pretty good at stickers and usually don't mind all that much.. but that was off-putting enough that I won't be getting this one - even if it drops in price. I was thinking I might get it if it drops to $60 but now it would have to be $40 for me to even consider it (though I agree with Jang that $50 sounds reasonable).
It's rare for a Lego set to be so irredeemable, lackluster, and inefficient in most departments (even if some were decent or somewhat stood out against cons): this one is a perfect example of what not to produce as a toy, regardless of target demographic or affiliated labels. Seriously, other than vehicle recognition and size convenience, there are virtually NO ATTRIBUTES to buying this, which is sad considering price tag and potential
Does anyone know how much LEGO actually saves on printed bricks by making stickers for it? Besides the price, it also seems to be contradictory to their business ethos of decreasing plastic waste..
the stickers alone are a dealbreaker. This seems like a terrible time for 99% of costumers. Im very happy i did not have to put giant 8 by 16 stickers all over my UCS Helicarrier. (Tho that one had some stickers too, and sadly, they are all broken and falling off at this point, which is very sad for a premium model like that)
Bit of a hot take here on the sticker front. I think we can all agree that stickers were the incorrect choice in this case. But Lego's print quality, especially on the American side of the pond, isn't great - wouldn't a slightly misaligned print be much worse than a few tricky stickers? I'm a bit on the fence on that one, just putting it out there.
I have a question. Is the price of the set usually affected by whatever license it's using? Cuz Minecraft sets are hecking cheap but all the other ones are crazy expensive.
Absolutely agree, for that much money all prints are needed, but maybe they think if it is 18+ set, then 18+ people will handle heavy sticker positioning which is also bad. :/
I think LEGO fans give LEGO way too much slack for their stickers. LEGO is the most expensive and I mean the most expensive toy in the entire Walmart, target, wherever. We pay $100, $200, $500, $800 no price range is free from stickers and it’s insane. We would be lucky to get even one print at most. We know LEGO can do only prints because Minecraft is all prints.
I've been out of Lego for a while, I'm watching this to see what it's like and looking at it I'm thinking 50$, Jang will probably say it actually costs 60. But then he said it costs 80$. I'm kinda happy I don't have time for legos anymore, because yeesh, not good for peoples wallets.
I think I’d rather be one of the women whose job it was to hand cut and glue the outside of an earth globe in the 50s than apply all these stickers

just built this last night.
Thank you Jang for your honest and fair revieuw.
Shame for the stickers, still it looks fantastic. It gives even more Macross SDF-1 on that medium; I'm not invested enough to do a full MOC but I may try some quick color swapping for the fun of it.
Well Jang, you did a great job applying the stickers! Water-slides would be easier, in my opinion.
Great review. Superb opinion on stickers vs price...
Your opinions are like gold, Jang,
Well said Jang. Awesome review!
Visiting a mall to get some jeans…and some bar soap 😆. The chats with Jang at the end of these review videos are the best.
I know i might be one of very few ppl that have that opinion, but i love the stickers, in fact i mostly prefere stickers cause of 2 things:
1) It makes the build more interesting for me and
2) If u buy the set for parts which i do sometimes its nice to have them not printed.
But thats only my opinion. I know a lot of ppl if not most Lego fans would like for stickers to be a thing of the past.
Crazy how the prices have gotten. The amount of stickers and lack of value of that set is unbelievable
I totally agree concerning the stickers. Expensive 18+ display models should be sticker free.
I’m getting anxious just imagining having to place these stickers
Thanks for the review. I was planning on getting this one, but you convinced me otherwise.
"That's funny, he doesn't look blueish."
Okay, yeah, the sticker situation is ridiculous. Those runways should have all been prints. Come on LEGO!
If this set was made by another company, someone like e.g. Cobi, it would be fully printed AND probably only cost 50-60$/€.
A 4x6 tile would’ve at least made this somewhat easier than what appears to be a large number of 2x6 tiles with 1x6 tiles on either side.
But it does take some enjoyment out of the build, because it is very easy to misaligned stickers, especially when there are so many
Even when this is 20% off on Amazon it’ll still be overpriced
Yes!! 50 dollars is the right price for that set with those amount of stickers!!!
This looks EPIC bit to many stickers awesome review jang 👍
MegaBlocks' Enterprise was 3K+ pieces, all printed pieces and retailed $200, $125 on sale. That sticker thing is really egregious.
I dont even care for this set. I just watch Jangs reviews to relax.
I really wish Lego would supply an extra set of stickers in their sets for those that have trouble applying stickers. If this goes on sale I will buy it
$40? Yes. $50? Probably not. $80? LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
The fact many of the stickers are on the top of this very flat build, dust is going to pose a significant issue down the line.
Bro, that's WAAAAAAY smaller than I expected.
Another pass. I appreciate your videos. You've saved me a lot of money in the past few years.
In defense of the stickers sheet, this set seems that it would look great without any of it .
It would appear this set has "sticker shock" in more ways than one... 😅
Does anyone know how much LEGO actually saves on printed bricks by making stickers for it? Besides the price, it also seems to be contradictory to their business ethos of decreasing plastic waste..
Very good review! Design looks very cool but number and character of all these stickers are ridiculous! And price... come on, LEGO!
Yooo I didn’t know you played destiny! That’s dope, what class are you?
the stickers alone are a dealbreaker. This seems like a terrible time for 99% of costumers. Im very happy i did not have to put giant 8 by 16 stickers all over my UCS Helicarrier. (Tho that one had some stickers too, and sadly, they are all broken and falling off at this point, which is very sad for a premium model like that)
My hands are WAY too shaky for me to ever want to build this set
I guarantee Mega Constructs would have every single piece in this a print. Usually cheaper. At equal quality.
