The annoying part with this immortal game is that Wesley could foresee Anand's moves, but there is nothing to do about it.
Yes, but Wesley should've anticipated that this attacking sequence would come. Anand played the attack very well, with good sacrifices. It was Wesley who messed up the position of his pieces and that made his king more vulnerable to that attack. Chess is purely skill based at the end of the day, not luck based.

What a game! unbelievable 😲😲😲 I'm a big fan of Mikhail Tal Sir but today Anand Sir play like a modern Mikhail Tal. Thank you Anand Sir for playing this precious game.
This was nice, but Anand s immortal will always be the one classical game he played with Aronian with Black pieces, sacrificing at least 3 pieces and all were poisoned.
And also Anand vs lautier where he trapped the bishop.

6:17, if 1. ...Qxh7 2. Qd6+ Qe7 3. Qh6+ leads to mate. Qd6 is not an intermediate check in order to win the queen on h7.
Lol..of course it is. if you go 1...Qxh7 2 Qd6 Qe7 then how can you win the queen on h7 ... when it is on e7 😵💫?? Did you even try to figure out Sagar's idea 🤕? He is, of course, talking about stronger moves than Qe7 that continue the game like 2...Ne7 and 2...Re7 (2...Kf7 3. Ng5 Kg7 looks like another mate) where you play 3. Bxh7 and it's winning by material but the latent threat is also to go 4 Rg8 Kf7 5 Ng5 Kg7 6 Qh6 mate.

Sagar was doing a quick commentary, so he must have looked at the top engine line and said that it wins the queen due to the intermediate check on d6. @@liszt85 I'm a master..I don't need an engine to look up trivial variations two moves deep..and accusing people more capable than you is foolish. Sagar doesn't need a computer to see what I said, it's obvious..instead of saying 'no human' would do this or that, just say 'you wouldn't' because that is the truth..and has nothing to do with most humans lol. Most decent chessplayers can see that only sacrificing the Q will continue the game, which is why Sagar addresses that possibility. My comment summarizes what he was talking about and needs no additional commentary, whether you understand it or not.

In the final position, Sagar says Wesley cannot take on h7 with his queen because Anand would give a check on d6 first and then pick up his queen. But after Qd6 check, cant Wesley just block with his queen? I dont see the continuation after that

After Qd6+ Qe7, White continues with Qh6+. Black response is limited. Qg7 blocking the check will be met with Qxg7#. Instead Kf7 will be checkmate in two with Rg7+ Kf8 Qh8#.

It was a queen sacrifice, if the rook took queen, vishy would've advanced the pawn to g7 and gave a check. Later he would promote to queen and checkmate
