    Nice job with the mottling.
    The landing gear looks off in this kit. I've recently built a G6 from Revell and the landing gear was way more at an angle towards the wing tips, like it was in reality.
    Other than that it's a neat looking model.

    • @ModelMinutes
      @ModelMinutes  4 года назад +5

      Thanks for watching! I'm not sure the mottling is "right" yet - I will need to work on that. The landing gear is a little odd, I think it's because it comes in so few pieces . . .

    Nice build Matt !
    Just a suggestion when doing mottling try to use little bits of irregular shaped sponge with most of paint wiped off. It can give quite a good variation of shape and tone to the mottling.
    Good especially if you don’t have an airbrush for fine detail.
    Strange undercarriage looks like it’s holding to go for the toilet for relief.
    Needs spread out a little towards wing tips.

    • @ModelMinutes
      @ModelMinutes  4 года назад +1

    Great build Matt! If you want to create a mottled effect without an airbrush you can cut down an old paintbrush and stipple on the color using a stabbing motion against the fuselage. Another method would be to use a piece of soft foam like packing material or a disposable type paintbrush and lightly press it against the fuselage. I hope this helps.

    Great looking model, the 109 looks awesome with whatever insignia it has. I'll give you a couple of tips, if you don't mind: The interior of Luftwaffe fighters between 1941 and onwards was in RLM 66. The second tip is the landing gear, it should stand in a more outwards position.
    I hope to see another video of yours soon, I really enjoy watching them.

    • @ModelMinutes

      Thanks for the info! I did a little research on the colour airfix suggested, but it looked as though they no longer made it (well done airfix) so settled for something else - not that you can really see in the cockpit through the canopy. You're right about the landing gear - I think it's the way they designed it to fit in the holes, it's quite snug and doesn't allow for positioning differently without modification

    Hey, nice one! I particularly like Swiss Bf-109es, because the story how they bought them is very interesting! Actually their Emiles (Bf-109E) saw combat drying the war! If I start building my next G6, it would certainly be a Swiss one, since I dide Swiss E3! Ofc, I must say that a landing gear is horrible, but it's not your fault.... It's an old kit, remastered ofc, but still, old, and some things are not quiet right, like that landing gear, but as far as your work goes, it's a fine little kit, and I imagine it looks chocolate on your shelf! I built this kit, but have not painted it I'm pretty sure I want it in German colours but that means you need to buy the special German colours it lacks a cockpit like you said but I am not a fan of the cockpit fiddly parts I liked it when I built it but a rubbish kit if you are doing inside detail it is quite nice I can't remember wether it's recess or raised panel lines but it fit nicely and I liked it.maybe if airfix makes a new version maybe add a cockpit just for detail.one thing for the kit is the chose of which cockpit canopy for Swiss or german schemes instead of being lazy and having just one.i am happy with the construction it fit perfectly. The Swiss scheme is interesting but I am a German bf109 person I have 4 in my stash and built 6(airfix and revell)I hope you are happy with your bf109 and the paint looks good(to be honest I know kinda want to build it in Swiss but I added the guns so a bit late now though)I also got a vintage 1979 monogram se5 in a charity book shop at duxford if you go to duxford they have a little book store near Battle of Britain hanger and they all are pretty much vintage before 1990's and are under £15 mine cost £8 but the pilot had already been painted . The enamel varnish was applied before the acrylic wash. If i did not do this, when the acrylic wash is removed (with acrylic thinners) all the previous acrylic layers would also be removed - stripping the model back to bare plastic. The enamel varnish layer protects these paints from being stripped

    • @ModelMinutes
      @ModelMinutes  2 года назад

      Whilst it is correct that humbrol acrylic is water based, the alcohol (and other compounds) in the thinner actually act as a solvent and cause the paint to thin much better than just using water. I have never experienced clumping or chipping of the paint as a result of this combination. Humbrol does make their own acrylic thinner which i expect has some kind of solvent like alcohol in it too (but not sure as that information doesn't seem readily available)
