Wow so cool to make this list! That's an amazing surprise, thank you so much! So glad you enjoyed the sample and hopefully you'll enjoy the production version and the Spitfire.
Even though some of the bad kits you made were not of great quality . You still did an amazing job on them. Keep up the great work Model Minutes and here's to a great 2023
Regarding the silvering on the decals on the Starfighter kit: you can remove silvering by lightly stippling the affected areas with Tamiya extra thin cement. It will dissolve the top of the decal allowing the air to escape and will then almost immediately evaporate, sealing the decal again. I've saved many models like this. Assuming you're clear coating afterwards.
Thank you for a wonderful year in model building. Building my Hawker Demon this week ( no broken parts). You have built a great community here. Happy New Year to you and all of my fellow modelers here.
Honorable mention, all are so gorgeous but that spitfire white and red is beyond outstanding. Don't be so severe with yourself. Keep up the great work. Kudos.
Another great video. You did a great job with your kits in 2022, I look forward to seeing what you do in 2023. Id like to wish you and your family a happy new year and hope that 2023 brings health and happiness to you all 🥳
Fantastic. Nostalgia for my childhood hobby! Tended to prefer Airfix than any other brand. Hasten to add that the skills and review qualities are top notch and makes my efforts seem total pants ! Great watch.
Forget that Bf 109 E! Try the amazing Special Hobby 1/72 kit. It"s unbelievable what an amount of details this stunning kit has even in this relative small scale, i.e. the DB engine, the MGs with ammo feeders, full cockpit details, and beautiful fine surface details. By far my best kit in '22!
My favorite builds you did this year were the NHS Charity kits. I like paint schemes that you won’t see in the real world. Happy New Years from the (New) Jersey Shore!
Great mini Messeschmitt. This has made me look back over 2022 and realise how many models I've done. The best was Das Werks fantastic U9 submarine. Glad you still do transfers instead of deee-kals.

honestly i loved the star fighter yea fair enough the pilot looks like hes a alien from a star wars film but the model at the end in my view looked great and you made a dogs dinner look fit for a king i also enjoyed the hurricane build as it involved some decal errors and new paints, plus the add on of using a 3d printer made the video a lot more interesting i am looking forward to your builds next year keep up the good work
l've built a couple of the Academy F-104Gs and they aren't the best Starfighters in the scale, but they are a good quick build. l've also built the Revell Ta 152H and was quite impressed with it.
What a cracking model the camel and its humans is. I love the evil eye the camel is giving you - presumably it wasn't pleased with your efforts with the filler 🤣
Good video. Though to be fair for the rewell ta-152 kit, it's probably one of the cheapest kits you can get. So it makes sense the quality isn't exactly up there. I bought one essentially just for the decals, because I want to build a dragon Ta-152 I found in my dad's closet (unfortunately without the original decals), and this kit was actually cheaper than most decal sheets i could find for it.
@@ModelMinutes Can you? I'm kinda new to modelling, so I don't know that much about prices, but I got this revell kit for 150kč (6.50USD), which seems rather cheap compared to other 1:72 kits I've seen for sale.
@@jojomaster7675 definitely, it really depends on where you shop (and sadly to some extent the country you live in) but I managed to get a 2020 tooling Airfix Sherman Firefly for like $8 (converted from £GBP). i find you very encouraging to build these less than perfect planes and other subject models , that really helps me to be happy to apply myself with very minimal skills and basic knowledge, Overall i want to make models with very simple and easy to use skills and tools . ie i dont want to have tool, and paint store the size of a garage to complete a model. Feeling i done the best i could with out having a massive investment in equipment and in time and effort, like using a sledge hammer to crack a nut.
Easy for me, my best kit this year is the one i'm currently building, Eduard 1/72 MiG-21 PFM in Egyptian colours as part of a "6 Day War collection" with an Israeli Mirage III from Special Hobby.
Added to which the Revell kit is actually the Frog kit from the early 1970s, and so not really a comparison. Companies will issue old kits if they think they can turn a profit on them, at least Airfix with their Vintage Classics tell you it's old. There is something nice though about bringing stuff up to date with a bit of scratch building etc.
I REALLY LIKED YOUR Me 109 Diorama, my favorite Also like the CAMEL FIGURE diorama, You do a great job, THANKS FOR PUTTING THIS TOGETHER… CHRIS from OHIO…

in reality, trains are my bag - but sadly i don't have space for them. Also, I didn't get the chance to build many vehicles this year (unless you count that kubelwagon and some halo warthogs i 3d printed) so hopefully 2023 might change that - fingers crossed! I do have a lot of planes though
@@ModelMinutes In my youth, I built a lot of aircraft in 1.72 scale, from Sopwith Camel to B.29, but as a 'returned adult ' and realising they would take up so much space, I switched to 1.35 scale vehicles as I can get a lot more on my display shelves - ! 🤣
Have you ever built or thought about building a Tamiya model? The details, engineering, and quality are outstanding and I think you might like it if you tried one!
To be fair i know of at least 3 examples from Airfix that could be construed as lying 1). ..when they reissued the Fouga Magister about 10 years ago in the red box with the Irish and Belgian Decals they had it listed as new in their catalogue even though its the same Fouga kit they releasrd way back in 1975. 2) when they first released their "Top gun" Mig-28 again they listed it as new even though its the same F-5E kit going back to at least 1987....could even be older and it Definitly shows its age. 3) Again another problem with their Topgun series and this time what they try to pass off as Mavericks F/A-18E is wrong as the kit is actually an F/A-18A. I agree with number 2 and 3, but number one was done in a time before vintage classics existed - I don't think they would do it again now (especially as head of brand has told us that anything pre-hornby is considerd vintage classic now)
OK up to here, I've seen about half of the video at minute 8:32 and except the poor provost painted with nail enamel, the rest of the models are more than acceptable to me. I expect never to run into your way with my models because you could kill me because of the poor finishing compared with yours (of course I'm joking) . I guess that on point that would be if not impossible, almost impossible to rate is "observer's opinion" as it is in my case. I think that you're a bit cruel with yourself. Models up to here are magnificent to me including the first one. Let's go on with it.
Thanks! I think that I try and forsee criticism so that people can see that I understand areas that need improvement - a little bit of self-awareness i suppose
I am building MACH 2 DeHaviland C4 Comet airliner the moment it really is the worst kit ever! I challenge you to find a worse model than the MACH 2 range! They are even worse than vac-forms.
Tamiya put out more reissue kits than new ones. They don't put out the models that modellers want. Often the editors of Tamiya magazine have asked modellers what subjects would they like to see. The modellers pitch in their requests which are relayed to the bigshot at Tamya. The respose is something like "All suggestions will be taken into account and we can assure you that many exciting models will will follow". But every year they come out with the same old stuff again, along with some new kits some of which are lunch bag letdowns! Tamiya does what Tamiya wants and if you don't like it ,that's what your getting! They seldom do kits with the modeller in mind!
