I don’t know how a RUclips channel can just change my mood just like that. When he put Theo in his backpack to make sure he was included and my heart just burst. The sniffle battle was just too cute too. ❤ made my day again Benji!
Hey just an advice for your ponds or thing like that always make sure that there is a possible way out for little animals so you can avoid finding dead mouse or lizard and even insects especially if you live in area where it can be hot :) you can place a stick or something else so they can climb out
I love how your garden has started to look, You two did an amazing job with this planting. Few little tips from a landscape designer. Using groups of 3 or 5 plants to fill the space. If you plant in a row try to plant it in a zig-zag pater, not a straight line, that way you have a more natural look. I always try to have plants with green, blue, yellow, and red elements in one flowerbed. And repeat some of the plants in different areas to tie the whole garden together.
You are so kind!!! Love that you save the lizard!!!!! And let him go when it was dryer outside!!! Love to see the massive heart you have!!! Theo is adorable as always!! Have a great weekend!!❤❤❤❤❤
You two have such a harmonious interacting. And Leo's head sticking out the backpack was just adorable. Have a wonderful gardening time . Greetz from Germany/ Black Forest ❤👋😄
I love your video about you and Chris planting in your back yard. I am nearly 69 years old and have had some experience arranging plants for best visual appeal. Might offer some tips...but remember it is unsolicited advice. First of all, I heucherra's are one of my favorite plants. and they are easy to divide once established. What i have done in my own beds is introduce lots of variety: in color, in textures, and most important, in SHAPES. yes, green colored mounds are a great base planting, but your eye wants to land on something. Don't be afraid to introduce columnar (straight up and down shapes) which will stop your eye and draw attention. I have used blue foliage, purple foliage, variegated foliage so the garden becomes like a tapestry. Again, I love what you are doing. But it brought me back to my early years and thought i would share some of what i have learned along the way. Happy Gardening!!!😮😮😮
I believe I hear the voice of the wondrous gardener Carol Klein as the squirrel is chomping on that avocado - she’s such a great guide for sustainable gardening (and emphatically loving the hell out of our plants haha)! It’s so great that you get to experiment with your own outdoor garden now - so happy for you, Chris, and Theo. Thanks for sharing ❤️
@@benjiplant If you don't already you guys should start watching Gardeners World! It's such a wholesome program and you get to see your gal Carol sometimes!:)
I love my plants and I learn a lot watching your videos. I enjoy your videos no matter what the subject. My partner and I use to take of the plants together, but when he passed it became my job alone. I enjoy the task as it reminds me of the good times we had together with our plants and in the garden.
I’m glad to see Chris is all better. Fun seeing you gardening with Theo in the backpack. So cute. You are so kind to help the little lizard out. I catch them with flat cardboard and a bowl when they get in my apartment here in Florida. They are so cute. They look like little dinosaurs. Thanks for the video. Plant on guys. 🌱💚🌱
Love seeing you guys working in the garden. Don't worry too much about making a mistake. Plants, pavers, etc can always be moved and re-used. It takes awhile to figure out how you want to hang out in your outdoor space. Most people like making outdoor rooms, places for you guys to pause for eating or resting or reading or hanging with friends. If there is a slightly sunny area, you might consider a vegetable garden. Also, you can grow lots of lettuces and leafy greens in the shady locations. Growing your own food is some of the best things you can do to minimize the carbon footprint of food. Particularly if you just use the plant feeds already available in your space.
I’m so happy to know you have a Norfolk pine, I have one, know where as large as your. Never had a problem with mines. Now I know where to come for advice.
You all give me hope that I can have a wholesome queer relationship 🥰 I love watching your videos because they have a beautiful vibe and you do to! The way you carried Theo in a baby backpack, and nurtured the lizard, are a very therapeutic things to see ❤
It's great to see how you are getting into outdoor gardenin too now that you're not in an apartment! Now we get the best of both worlds, indoor plants and outdoor! Thanks Benji :)
So happy to see Chris and that he's feeling better. I'm in Toronto and its still off and on chilly but I enjoy watching all that you have available there.
The aquilegia Formosa is not evergreen. She is perennial plant which flowers over the spring and summer. She is coming back every year but over winter she sheds her leaves. 😊 Oh and she is poisonous, so no Theo chewing 😮😊
You could put a large stick in the pond so if a lizard or bugs fall in they can climb out to safety. Good on you for checking on it and warming it back up. It looked really plump in the belly, I wonder if it was gravid? I liked your sponsor too, it’s great to see important information like this being shared 😊💚🌿 can’t wait to see your garden develop, native plants are the best! Mulch can make a garden bed look great as well!
Love your first garden 👨🏻🌾👨🏻🌾🐶🌱. The ivy growing on the wall can be trimmed back at any time if it starts shading the are. Wisteria envy, I have one in a pot almost 7 years, and has never flowered!💚 Wisteria are heavy and fast growers. If you put it in the ground make sure it has sturdy support or landlord is ok with it.
Achillea can spread and extend almost like a wild low prairie ... this plant is named about the greek hero Achilles who used the plant to heal wounds of his soldiers "the myrmidons" If you want more Heuchera, you will be able to divide them very quickly, it is better to do so if you want more flowers also. You are lucky to be able to eat your own avocados ! maybe the squirrel will leave some for you ....
Wisteria grows amazing in the ground! It’s perfect to cover a wall or let it climb around the roof of your patio and it’ll look absolutely stunning when in bloom. I covered my balcony with it! Be careful though it grows like crazy so it’ll take over your house if you don’t keep it in check 😂
aww when you got this new house i was rly hoping you would look into native plant gardening. thank you for being a mindful gardener and thinking of the ecosystems and wildlife you can benefit!! makes me so happy

this must be my favorite vlog so far from you! the wholesome vibes, theo and the garden looks so cute so far :) excited to see what it will be like once it grows
Hi Benjamin, always plant in odd numbers, and got to say yours and Chris’s home is looking lovely, can’t wait to see it after you have been there a few years and how the garden will look. ❤️🏳️🌈🇬🇧🙏
You have a Norfolk Pine tree in your yard already! If you do a search you can find a water lily plant that has miniature leaves and flowers (1" across). You can also get miniature cattails and papyrus. To keep down the mosquito population wild guppies (feeder fish) are cheap at the pet store. Wander through some California Sagebrush to without paying attention, and you will realize the reason that some refer to this plant as 'cowboy cologne,' Native Americans used the plant's aromatic oils to disguise their odor when hunting. Artemesia when dried in a small bundle is used as incense to "sage" an area. Lizards are poikilothermic so their body temperature is only one degree above the ambient temperature. Warming him up was absolutely the right thing to do. Lizards eat a lot of spiders and insects. The heuchera (pronounced Heuk-er-a (Greek word)) will get to 14" - 18" inches across and are evergreen in your area. Yarrow is very hardy and lush. Pollinators love it. You gave your boyfriend a trowel to use, which is good for planting small plants or digging holes to place bulbs. Energy reduction is easy and some things are cheap to do such as insulating your attic. That will reduce heating costs by 15% and I can get reimbursed for the cost.
nursing a random lizard back to health is so disney princess of you, literally so sweet and kind 💚🦎
oh indeed :-)
My dad use to kill every single lizard in the house 😂😂😂
