I'm not even done with the video yet, but I feel like a channel always feels the most natural when a creator just does what comes naturally to them and what they are enthusiastic about! So even if you are less plant focused at the moment it feels really chill seeing you settle into a new place. And the plant bbs are always lurking in the background anyway. So just do whatever feels right and people will feel your good intentions.
I’m so glad to hear creators talking about how their care has changed. Last summer my entire apartment was taken over by plants. I moved 6 times since them and lost so many of mine from neglect, the plants going into shock, and a lot of other reasons. Now I’ve nursed them back to health and only have about 1/3 of what I started with. I no longer bottom water and they’re all doing amazing and it’s so much less of a burden for me this way.
Ohhh.. I just love you, with Theo in your backpack and your super protective headgear and crocs! Quite the stylista…and what’s even better is that it’s all natural! You are so humble and purely original. I don’t think you are even aware how charming you are. Not one bit! That is why we all love to watch you and listen to your calming plant ramble 😊 . No wonder your dying plants rally back to life after one leaf has been hanging on a by a thread for a while: you’re the meditation teacher of the plant world!😅
Wow, this video gives me so much LIFE. It just feels so funny and real. You just walking around, talking ab some plants, forgetting what u wanted to do, Theo licking ur leg, u constantly being unsure ab stuff - literally me w my doggo. Also, ur garden looks like fricking huntington gardens, I love it! Ur vids give me so much inspiration for plants and also just for living in general. Hope u, Chris and Theo are happy in ur new place and living situation! Have a good one🤌🌱
I smile when I watch your vlog. I am so emotionally attached to each of my plants (only 10 total) that I worry over every brown leaf. You have a much calmer approach. I would like to know more about fertilizing plants. I've been scared to try.
If you’re intimidated by fertilizer, I highly recommend a slow release fertilizer like osmocote. It’s very simple to use and you only have to add it once every 6-9 months. It’s difficult to over fertilize your plants and “burn” them with osmocote
the plant benji is watering at @19:38 is a Schlumbergera , genus of cacti. Schlumbergera's nickname in Greece is υπομονή meaning patience and i thinks it fits nicely the vibes of this video. Having patience and going with the flow of things can be rewarding in so many ways... with plants and life in general🌱🌞
Hi Benji, Chris, Theo and family! I like the vibe of these vlogs Benji. Just like hanging out with a friend. Thanks! It is early morning here,, I am looking out the window and listening to you. I may never get the chance to meet you but you feel like a friend!
I’m a fan ❤️Love watching all your videos, love your new home and all your plants. I discovered your video when I was living in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I’m watching this video from California❤️❤️❤️
I recently gave away 18 of my 63 plants. I’m in a small apartment. It was hard to do but I was feeling so overwhelmed with trying to care for them. Now I am actually enjoying taking more time with the ones I have left that are my favorites. They are getting better care now. It was like a weight was lifted. Life situations are always changing and I’m finding I need to reevaluate priorities. Thanks for this lovely video Benji. So nice and calming. 🌱💚🌱
I just discoverd you recently and I absolutly love your videos. They have such a nice calm vibe, I feel instantly in peace and in a nice space. I just feel good and happy. The dedication for your plants and your home, the general aesthetics and everything is just admirable. ^^
One thing I always find helps with plants that have yellowed or brown leaves that I find don't look to good, and this sounds weird, is that I will just cut off the brown bits and then kind of shave the leaf to look normal. It sounds kind of strange to use scissors on the actual leaf, but sometimes the leaves will last for several months while still being green which helps the plant a lot and also looks nice. Edit: Also, that flowering cactus looks like a dragon fruit cactus.
Hey, just be careful with your "potted" Ridleyi... it hates soggy substrate... high ambient humidity but low root watering. Wonderful collection and care. Congrats. Cheers.
except for my 2 cacti that i've had for like 7 years, i don't own a single houseplant. i still love to watch these videos because they are so calming to me. maybe i'll get a few plants for my space soon 😊
Awesome plant update! Once you’ve used the silica a bit longer, please give an update on the effects (if any) you’ve noticed. Thanks for sharing Benji!
I totally understand wanting to pair down. I also got self watering systems because I got tired of watering everything all the time. It's so much easier, and the plants love it because they get exactly the water they want!
Lol my old landlord took care of watering my babies when I worked in the oil sands for 20 days at a time, I had a huge chest high vase that had some dried decor/sticks etc and it fell over one day and water flooded my floor, he thought it was a live plant, no idea how long he was doing that but there were gallons of water in that huge vase! 😂😂
5:31 Love your videos no matter whether it's your plants your home etc. Just love seeing you and Chris and Theo! Your Family to us viewers! 😄❤🐾 And I always learn new things from your channel! Love to All! Puppy kisses to Theo❤🐾Always looking forward to your videos!! 🌿🪴🌿❤️🐾
I totally cut leaves I don't love either, but if the plant doesnt have that many, I might trim the worst off old leaves and cut it into a smaller leaf shape.
Omg! Love that first plant (euphorbia) super unique. Also, I love the house videos as well as your plant videos. It is great to see realistic ways to style plants in a home, and you have great style! You could make a video about how to change your sink faucet to a taller one that is better for plant watering. Seems like a video I have never seen and that plant people might be interested in watching/doing themselves.just an idea tho! Keep up the awesome work!
This is my resort channel. I've always wanted to have a garden full of plants of all kinds. When I was 6, I remember planting a pretty grass that my grandma kept on pulling up HAHA I've googled it turned out it's the Paragis grass.
Thank you for sharing how to care of the plants including Platyceriums in your new place. I envy you have a large outdoor having greens, soils, and creatures. At the last video I was impressed your potted plants were just gorgeous. But in this video I could see how tough you struggle to take care of many many greens I imagine. Thanks again for sharing this. I learned from your channel again. Take care of yourself. :)

I love seeing well cared for and loved plants like yours. That's a stunning Epiphyllum with the pink flowers that came with the property. I love this plant, but they do require a lot of space.
Omgosh so many plants you have I don’t! And I want!! Thanks for a new to me grail list!! You must have pretty good tap water hey? Ours is garbage, you can see brown if you have a full tub, yea, so most of mine are getting bottled now when I can. Looking forward to a repotting vid!! Where are you? Cali? Beautiful area/property/home!!
Really lovely plants and gardening. Please don't get rid of the plants that are not thriving. You should take them to a plant doctor and do a collab. 😊
Interesting to see how your habits in plant care have changed since you moved. Here are a few tips from someone who has moved with plants many times over 40 years. 1) water quality matters-the new water source might have fluoride, which is toxic to many plants; there are minerals that weren’t present in the r-o water, & which can accumulate in the margins of the leaves, causing browning; the ph is likely different, which will cause poorer growth. Rainwater is best, although often difficult to harvest in Southern California. I use covered rain barrels to diminish mosquito activity. Otherwise r-o water is always better than tap water. 2) location, location, location! You already move your plants around the house to seek the best environment for them. Just don’t give up. I’ve thrown many plants into the compost pile, only to later find them growing wild without my care. 😳🫣 3) air quality is also important. Moving from a high-traffic area to a less-traveled street, or vice versa, can affect sensitive plants. Indoor chemicals, such as cleaning agents can cause poor air quality indoors, especially when first moving into a space that was thoroughly cleaned for you. Even switching from an electric stove to gas will affect some plants (& aquariums) especially in or near the kitchen. I’ve lived many places and found that some plants do better than others. After a while you will learn which ones do best for you in your new home. Now that you have the space, I encourage you to capture rainwater and start a compost area. It might make all the difference. 😺✌️
When you grow cannabis with silica is absolutely makes a difference. Main stem gets like double the width in the same amount of time. Would be curious to see results with Monsteras. I am going to start supplementing with it.
I bought a fake monstera alba it's coming in a week.. nice to know it's a real plant lol I bought it cuz I'm gonna hand paint on some fake plants & this one's already done for me! 🌿
You should get several water containers with open tops, fill them with tap water and leave them sit for 48 hours open top. I used to use 5 gallon buckets when I had city water. This method allows the chlorine and fluoride and other volatiles to evaporate off. This will make better water for your plants without the expense of distilled water. Cheers. Allen
Good to catch up with the plants. And your lovely life. I care about you and your life and as others have said you help others like myself who love plants style and lgbt life’
Hey Benji! Such a clam, relaxing, amazing, personal video that you make as always. I was wondering what plant this was 4:44. Yours really inspired me and now I want one for my space!
You’re literally doing what I want to do! Like you, I’m also getting into interior design, and most of the interior designers I watch don’t like indoor jungles. However I don’t really want to get rid of my plants, especially my nepenthes and/or ones I’ve had for a really long time. So what should I do?

13:16 I think if you want to try this again it would probably help to transition it slowly, I know that's what people do with food crops that get started indoors and get moved outdoors later. This takes a while though and would probably also be kind of a hassle with such a big plant, because the idea would be moving it outdoors for like 1 hour per day and slowly increase that over the course of a week or two
I've always loved plants and want to take care of some but I don't think I'm responsible and consistent enough to focus my attention in their growing. I hope I can be able to grow some plants soon, though. 🌱💗
Patchira aquatica have small roots anyway. Most of the time they are sold in groups since they look so lonely and not as robust when they are potted as a one plant.

Please do a planter shopping/replanting video! I would love that so much 😮
Theo is the second cutest dog I know of. My chihuahua is the most cutest but Theo is only like 0.0001% less cute so its very close xD
I’ll let this slide since your dog is also a chihuahua lol

your video's literally bring me inner peace, tysm
Im like you benji. I am into the decorating side of plants. Bringing them to tie into the house decor rather than collecting lots.

The tropical cactus with pink flowers is called Queen of the Night or night blooming cereus. Only blooms at night.

U should keep that plant with pink bloom in ur balcony in a corner so it hangs down…….will look amazing
Cheers. Allen
Sorry, but fluoride doesn’t evaporate. It can only be removed by reverse osmosis or expensive filters.
😺✌️
You are correct. My mistake. Thanks. Allen
