Bless them, they tried. The 7800 was a good system, backward-compatible with your old 2600 games if you cared to bust out the old-school Activision stuff, and the games weren't bad. Xevious was one of the best. Loved that game. Have it now for the Wii in one of those retro-packs, in fact.
The funny thing about your “what if the Xevians are people” question is that this game, despite its simplicity, actually has a plot where the humans are actually the aliens, and the Xevians are like the original inhabitants of Earth, and something involving the awakening of an ancient evil supercomputer called “GAMP” that never shows up in the game. Damn, I wish they’d rerelease Xevious but add in a final showdown with GAMP and a true ending. Maybe add a continue feature as well, Xevious has been one of my favorite games since I was 5 years old and to this day the furthest I've made it was the second mothership boss.
Comcast needs to hire you guys to have your own show. Then yall can retape and reproduce these reviews, with interviews from other people who had the systems. I can be a co producers and editor for the show. We make lots of money and get loved from chicks long time! By the way, those metal things . . Those were those prison plates that were in Superman 2. NOT!
Well I look forward to seeing a video of you kicking ass on this port of Xevious in expert mode then. Oh and real hardware/software. No emulator cheating. So please inform me when you put that video up.
Ok there are several glareing flaws with this play list. 1) things aren't in sequence and 2) some of the videos have comments and voteing disabled, which sucks cause I'd kinda like to comment every once in a while and if you don't have the #'s of votes those 5 stars won't put you on the featured list. You guys made a great show, I'd like to see it come back.
I'm looking for a tank game coinop that the special part to remember to shoot the nuke you push the left and right joysticks apart to aim upwards. You drive through a maze to destroy whatever enemy bots/robots in a maze like setting.
This version seems more detailed than the NES. The grass and floaty turny metal plates just look better. The ATARI ADVANTAGE! The ground in NES looks like solid color paper cut outs, and the metal spin spins aren't as metallic looking. Ps. They remind me or Superman too.
New Coke was like 1984 around the same time Max Headroom was out. Wikipedia has flawed info. on time lines. Bill Cosby, and Max Headroom were spokes people for New Coke. Which I happened to like no matter how friggen sweet it was. I LOVED IT!
I just started playing this on my NES using my NES advantage joystick controller. This game is fun but hard. I have not played too many spaceship shoot em ups, so maybe I just suck though haha.I always die right after the first boss when I get to the water part.
Ah ok. Good to know I just dont suck. The enemies shoot their bullets at you so fast it gets really hard to dodge when a bunch are shooting at you at once. I still really like the game though.
The dude in the plaid shirt has the perfect Ken hair I've ever seen in real life! LOL! I hope that does not make me ghey noticing that. I'm just jealous cuz my hair is thinning :)
I wonder how a can of New Coke would taste today if somebody cracked one open? Would it just be putrid and send you to the hospital, or would it have aged like a fine wine? Maybe people today would think it was amazing, and then Coca-Cola would have to scramble to find all those cans and bottles on New Coke from 1985. Makes ya think.
i do appreciate these guys posting this video, but it would rule if they could stop talking for at least a few seconds in a row so we could enjoy the game.. lol
Was hooked on this when I was about 10/11. This and Ballblazer are still in my top 5 games of all time.

This is the best title on the 7800 bar none. You guys left out the way cool "hidden" flags that you could pick up for points and extra lives I think.
I love this Videogame Review and the shiny table!
the old skool video quality
Holy cow.. Opened this video and got sucked back in time to 1999. Awesome.
my atari 7800 still lives 23 years and it still owns i love it so much i hug it every day and play dig dug xevious and galaga every day

Makes you wonder what it would have looked like though!
My games not working right. For some reason it shoots the gun and drops the bombs at the same time. Do you think it's the game or the controller?

Dying even before the music ends at 3:33 lol. That happened to me a lot as well as a kid =)
it reminds me alot of memories thank you pal..
For the record, the Romaji spellings of "Xevious" are:
Japanese pronunciation: Ze-bi-a-su
U.S. pronunciation: Ji-bi-a-su
(silent "u" in both cases)
I played this game way back. graphics were splendid.

XEVIOUS is a great simple little game. The 7800 port did the arcade version justice. I miss my 7800.
Was there ever a 2600 version of Xevious?
Guru Larry Gaming yes but it sucked

River Raider was AWESOME, but still only 87% as AWESOME as XEVIOUS !
This version seems more detailed than the NES.

dave...come back to classic game room please! we miss you

i miss the modern reviews :(
"not just about the new games, the dreamcast and the playstation" lol :)
"It's Xevious baby!"

I have this game on a game called Namco Museum.
I never knew an Atari 7800 port existed I had the NES and C64 versions.
awesome

This isn't even a review. WTF? He needs to redo this one.
Wow they made this on Xmas eve.
you can unlock it on star fox assault
yaaaayyyy i got my 7800 for xmas
I got lucky. I found a cheap plug and play game that not only had pac-man,galaga and dig dug but THIS!
I have Xevious for my Famicom!
It's a ridiculously hard game. I think the 7800 version had better graphics, but the NES version plays much more smoothly.
The dude in the plaid shirt has the perfect Ken hair I've ever seen in real life! LOL! I hope that does not make me ghey noticing that. I'm just jealous cuz my hair is thinning :)
I played this online and its fun
@Megadoomable

Mark was chubby back then :v
I have that game on 3ds!!!
lol i'm waching this while playing it on gba, I LOVE IT! (but i suck at it)
No there never was. It was in the works and got canceled.

i thought it was pronounced she-vee-us.
For some reason, I don't like the Dave and Mark reviews.
Xevious is actually insanely boring.
Not Interested.
