So many tribute bands to Steely Dan. This can only mean they were one of one the best and most influential bands ever.
There's one where I live that plays live Steely Dan and Chicago. They call themselves Stealin' Chicago.
I haven't listened to this song in a while. What an absolute gem!
Every so often you stumble across a gem ....THIS IS A GEM
Great Job, Sound Engineers, your work product has not gone un-noticed.
I second that!
I love Steely Dan tribute bands, and must admit that I spend almost as much time listening to them as I do to our heroes themselves. We Steely Dan fans are blessed with the growing number of highly talented players who painstakingly interpret our beloved classics. This is a great performance by The Steely Damned. Sublime, tight, horns superb. I love the backing singers and their work (and visual interpretation of the lyrics) pushes this rendition to another level. Thank you!
The leadsinger doesn't sing the song the rigth way. Yout must sing this song a bit laid back and better mean the lyrics you sing. Further more...his singing is a bit of key )-: He better sticks with playing his guitar...
@@ariemol3086 Some valid points, yes. But "on the whole" this rendition is pretty impressive!!
Lexington Lab Band, Brooklyn Charmers, Stanley Dee.......................super in their own ways. @stanleydee for me, they dive in and make it their own, with joy!
@@mozdickson I too love Stanley Dee - the lead singer is exuberant, and I do plan to see them once things get back to normal. I went to see Nearly Dan - in the UK - in 2013 (and a couple of weeks later saw Steely Dan at the Beacon theatre). Nearly Dan were terrific. Brooklyn Charmers I enjoy, great younger band. Not familiar with Lexington Lab Band and will check out. Not sure who these are in the following link, or their name, but very impressive! ruclips.net/video/NBdzGCRtn6M/видео.html
agree these guys are superb
That lead sax at the end is so perfectly done. Bravo Sir. WELL done.
I think it’s Glenn Beck
The more I watch this fantastic tribute to the original band, I am reminded that there are reproductions that are worthy of proliferating. Steely Damned 2 is worthy of such an honor. We watched them last year at Belly Up at Solana Beach visiting from Pittsburgh and were hopeful of a repeat but missed them in 2024, but alas they weren't performing while we visited again in 2024. Cover bands come and go in Pittsburgh, several hang around....but if Steely Damned 2 were in Western PA, they would be honored with the respect they deserve...a nightly audience.....Hank, bring your fantastic band east!
Just superb lead and backing vocals, and the band is outrageously good. That is one lucky audience.
So outrageous.
Outrageous!
Fagen's voice is just so iconic to his Fans that it would be almost impossible to approach but this is just GREAT !!!
Awesome. Love seeing some youngsters in the mix performing this timeless hit..
Did you notice the drummer saying 1, 2, 1, 2, 3…in German?
If I could give this band a thousand likes, I would! Each member injects so much energy and enthusiasm into the performance. Also, props to the videographer(s)! Thank you to each and every one!
Yes, the videography was so good, too.
Horn section, harmonies, drummer, great band, smooth cover, faithful to the original. Love it!
I was absolutely thrilled to hear this! The female vocals were perfect, percussion was spot on, and the horns and woodwinds were breathtaking. Guitars...oh Hell yes! Great work, everyone.
This band is so good, perfection and class!
This may be one of the best tribute bands I have seen. Not only is the orchestration very good...all of the vocals are fantastic..
Check out Stealing Dan....far superior.
It feels a little sluggish. I'd goose up the BPM by a couple.
Lead vocalist not great TBH. I could do without all the hand gestures by one of the backup singers too.
I like her hand gestures and dance!
It’s spot on! A faithful reproduction of the original.
It's so good to see musicians playing live, good music, and a good Band too.
The Tall background singer clearly has great memories of this song. You can see it in her face ....Love it
One of the girls is her daughter.
@@ocwireless11 - Yeah, she's great. The teens are good, too.
@@ocwireless11 The other girl is Tripp Sprague's daughter Kate. They've covered other Steely Dan songs together, including a great version of Any Major Dude, which is on youtube, though I can't seem to post the link sadly. Worth finding, though.
Maybe she was at Rudy's, too?
I just checked her out on a search engine. The lady's got some chops and a LOT of performing experience; she's a real pro in a group of, I guess, other real pros!
The whole band is Bad Ass. The female vocals really make this smooth and in the groove. Good bass playin too.
Absolutely stunning version. Sophisticated and well performed.
Roger that...
I saw them in NYC at Le Bar Bat during the week Steely Dan was inducted into the RnRHoF. I believe that's Hank Easton on guitar and lead vocals. The guy can replicate so many lead guitar parts from so many Dan tunes, he is truly an amazing, gifted musician. That evening they played from 23:30-03:30 without a break, and featured Lou Marini on sax. Bernard Purdie also sat in on drums for a few tunes, including, of course, Home At Last.
Brilliant sound - love the two young ladies singing!
3, one was hiding even though she looked tall when you did see her.
@@frankconger8540 green wristband. Absolutely captivating.
Actually 3 ladies and one gentlemen. Look close at the opening shot. the gentlemen is way over on the left
@@jimmurphy8868 perv just like your buddy great british
@@jimmurphy8868 yep princess
Being in a band just like this would be my dream come true. Bravo!
Wow! These guys are stupendous! Thanks for posting this!
Wow what an amazingly tight and talented Steely Dan Cover band. I'm a jazz keyboardist/vocalist and did covers of Steely in the 80s and early 90s. Black Cow is one of my favs.
Great job. Us steely dan fans love new groups doing their music
The musicianship on this is quite brilliant, especially the horns section. What I love about the original is the harmonies and the ladies nailed them, too, for me. Great cover of a fantastic song!
Brilliant! Bass at the very end around the 5min mark was so good.Well done everyone! x
❤❤❤Holy Crap....you guys are incredible. Love it. More.More.More.
I was fortunate enough to have seen Steely Dan at Southampton HS several shows. Watching all of you playing brings back so many memories. Especially those days in high school as well as those concerts at Southampton HS.
You must come to Long Island. You'll be a huge hit
Wow! What a beautiful rendition of a classic Steely Dan song! You guys are tremendous! Thanks for posting.
Talented guitarist to be playing those chords and singing at the same time, but what a great song brilliantly covered. Really impressed.
Hank Easton is master guitarist
@@RIEH54 I did not know that he could sing too. He is a gun on the guitar .
So good! Thanks!
SD rarely did live shows. So to see , hear , these classic songs are such a blessing to witness. Big brass sounds so GOOD! Long live STEELY DAN, Aloha from Hawaii!
I LOVE this - not only a very good cover - but watching the lead background singers' professionalism and enthusiasm - well hell, look at the sax player - he gets it. The "younger gals" - I get it...they don't know the song or the meaning.
Wow! Whole lot of talent at work here! Thank you folks! Great cover!
I have heard other tribute bands cover Black Cow. Being a keyboard player, naturally I enjoy hearing the electric piano solo. Some solos are completely improvised and some are interpretations of the original, which I like to hear and are done well. The guy in this video nails the one from the original recording virtually note for note. This is how I would prefer to play it. Awesome job!
Stephen Hatley: same here! I miss my Rhodes 73 but I don't miss lugging it around Lol... nobody would help me carry it!🤣🤣🤣 I had the 73 and a crumar string machine.... the crumar SUCKED!!!😂😂😂😂😂😂
Don’t ever stop keeping great music alive…… I’d have to say music is the greatest gift we have to offer God…. There’s so much love…..💕
"Outrageously" wonderful performance 👏❤
i like that the singer puts his own stamp on it. Great pitch with just a touch of raspiness. Almost like Al Stewart doing the Dan.
I was thinking the exact same thing. I was expecting him to break into Time Passages.
Actually reminded me a bit more of Steve Forbert than Al Stewart.
Such a bold move taking on one of the most iconic jazz/pop albums ever produced. Seems like these guys hit every nuance that I have loved over the years. I waited for Wayne Shorter's sax part and it was great. Nice work.
So outrageous! ♥
Wowwwww your bery great musicians, the best of the best, and owesome tribute, keep going..........................
Wow. I was in another room when I heard this. I didn't realize it wasn't S.D. till I got back. I knew the back up singers were great. Great job everyone!
Just couldn't be better, definitely the best Steely Dan tribute band I've ever heard. Every nuance of this song was perfect and the backing singers were top notch.
Nearly Dan, Seattle area.
Nicely done everybody, great harmonies, saxophone and horns were right on, the background singers were spectacular and the drummer was off the hook! In a tie and a tight collar, sir, you rock !!
A nice version of perhaps my all-time favourite song.
Love the energy of the lady on our left! 😅
This band is currently as good as the original Steel Dan and I’d pay just as much to see them. Absolutely outstanding cover band with more talent than most other bands around at the moment.
They don't need to.
The seven-foot-tall backup singer was having too much fun! Great vocals from the lead and the backup.
She was distracting from the group, everyone else was there to sing the song, not showboat!
@@platinumjeweler I'd normally agree, esp in comparison to the two younger ladies who (IMO) didn't seem all that comfortable in the spotlight (great singing though!). BUT I think she was trying to present the vibe of most of SD's BGV ladies, who normally tend to project a lot of similar 'charisma' as part of the show. Just IMHO.
@@larryh.3173 The other two ladies sang great but were a bit shy, especially the one on the right.
A very lovely thing indeed!!!
So slick, so smooth...
Thank you so much!
"Introduce me to that big blonde. She's got a touch of Tuesday Weld..."
She's wearing Ambush and a French twist , she's got us wild and she can tell
The other two are her daughters?
Excellent comment - different album - but I get your message!
She loves to limbo, that much is clear...
Would you pour me a Cuban Breeze, Gretchen...
Nice Cover! In love with the backup singers already!
those BVs.................wow! Great horns and keys and strings. A LOT to love here. Thanks guys and gals.
Fantastic sounds! Glad i found this!
This song is PERFECTION. Love SD. Good cover!!!
Wow, almost didn’t stop to listen... I glad I did, you guys are spot on👍
I can do one or the other but not seeing him play guitar like he does at the same time. Truly a talent
EXCELLENT tribute to one of my favorite acts of all time!
Love, love, love this!! Absolutely superb!!
How did they form a band of 13 people that was so good it's a big enough feat to get 4 people together, Awsome, I will continue to dream of the Day
Great band, very good horns. Hi from Italy!
The sax player absolutely kills. Best part of a great band.
Nicely down, great to see SD music performed, bravo 👍
Great harmonies backup and instrumentals here ! Congrats to a smokin' hot band !
Damned good! Great mix with a great performance that makes me wish I was in California.
Great band..great music..steely dan..thank you for making us happy.with your music..
Great tight group all around. Congratulations
These guys are on it … the entire band all great at doing their part in the jigsaw that makes Steely Dan compilations so intricate and masterful..
Hats off in particular to the brass section here …outstanding 🎵🎶🎵🎶👌
Steely Damned lol, love it. Nice job!
Thank you for sharing this excellent band.
Can't get enough of the great Hank Easton.
いいなぁ、こんな仲間が欲しい🎶🎶🎸🎸
Love the horns!
Love the lady back up singer to the left. Thats how to do it. Showing pleasure and life.
I’m impressed that the band is so young.
Good grief this is good! Always findin' something great on RUclips.
❓Can you believe this ... Excellent ❗🎼👌
The Sax was spot on,great version
Amazing! Perfect vocals! Beautifully done!
Just mad respect to all the Dan heads involved...one of THE highlights of my time @G.I.T. in Hollywood was getting to play 3rd chair guitar in a Steely Dan live workshop...got to watch killer players try their hand at legendary solos while I struggled to sight-read the Walter Becker chink-a-chink parts (badly)
Good Times!✌️
A top flight, fantastic rendition of an Absolute Classic. Love it.
Great music-making! Nice job! 🙂
Man oh man. That was really really good. Hey hey. Great drumming g bro. All musicians here incredible. The vox are on point excellent
This goes to show you what a fantastic job Steely Dan did on CREATING and playing those songs! Worth the time to practice and redo with perfection. Good imitation is the greatest form of flattery.
I know the footage showcased the backup girls, but the Right onTime Horn Section absolutely NAILED this Gig....perfect ascending stabs and Fills!
Amazing! What a group! Nailed it!
Great performance and sound mixing. This is amazing with headphones on.
I'll be damned if I could play them fancy-ass SD jazz chords AND sing this song! Hat's off to Hank! Oh, and there aren't enough OOs in SMOOTH to describe this tribute!
It gives me a warm feeling to hear you guys
Excellent rendition, brilliant musicianship, great ensemble and a nice recording too, well done.
I recently watched a Dan tribute band and enjoyed every moment, like this
Hey I really like you guys. Top job. Big shoes to fill but you seemed to do it naturally. All the band members need a big congratulations from Donald and the lads for the privilege of being such a big happening thing that tribute bands would copy and make their own. Big thumbs up for you🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍✊✊✊✊✊💪💪💪💪💪💪💪
Just outstanding!! I too like to listen to bands doing covers and you hit this one out of the park!!
wow can't believe this group is still around, they had just formed within a year or two when I left San Diego in 1997. good for them.
Brilliant, Outstanding Performance.
One of the coolest songs ever! Fantastic cover!
Totally impressed!!! Well done all of you
Wow . . . phenomenal job. ( no easy task ) to Cover the incredible Steely Dan. Enjoyed your performance. oNe LovE from NYC
All the Steely Dan aficiandos ALL over the world. Carrying the torch for us (lucky)fanatics! Chapeau!
So outrageous! To see the how perfection is Emulated , nice 😌
Outstanding …first class 👍👍
Phenomenal guys! How can I get in this band?
