You went to UMass at Amherst with Maura?
What was it like on campus when she went missing? No one ever mentions that?

I remember this case very well, I’m was living in Amherst at the time and also worked at UMASS. I remember hearing what happened to her on “Channeling Eric” on RUclips. This was a segment on missing persons with a psychic. The outcome was not good at is apparently deceased. Sad story.

This was such a perplexing case. So many odd aspects to the entire case. I have always wondered.
Thanks for reading. I appreciate you saying what the placement were and bringing the card up closer to the camera. It was really helpful because my eyes can't read the titles very well. Those cards are beautiful. Great reading!

8:42 Yeah. Polygraphs are not admissible in court because anyone _without a conscience_ can pass one. Interesting deck.

Her case is so interesting. I do feel it was a crime of opportunity. I heard on another video,it could be someone who lived within the area.

This wasn't officially solved because there was police corruption in it, which there would have to be because this was an insanely solvable case. I've researched a lot of unsolved cases over the years. Some times I may draw some pretty strong theories and/or feel fairly confident about who did it and/or what may have happened, but this one I feel 99.9999% certain that Butch Atwood the Bus driver was the one who killed Maura. There's a lot of research and evidence to sift through, but it's pretty overwhelming and everything about it makes perfect sense. he was a bus driver, with a police scanner... who was a bit of a busy body and kind of thought he was and acted like a policeman (this is a very small town btw)... he was also good friends with Cecil Smith who was the Chief of police and the first police on the scene. This reading seemed to get several point correct in my opinion, especially about it being a crime of opportunity by someone who was a regular in the community, etc.
I don't buy for a second that Butch had a talent for passing polygraph tests. He did one video interview a day or two after Maura went missing and he looks like a deer in headlights giving off numerous body language tells and statement analysis tells.
Maura was in a desperate situation because if she were to get a DUI, there's a good chance she was going to be going to jail that night and I theorize she asked Butch if he would help her. Butch lived right up the street. At this point many of us who have come to this conclusion are uncertain if he put her in the back of the bus and took her back to his place while she hid in the bus prior too and during the police getting to the scene and eventually searching Butch's house (they never searched his bus though) or if he took the bus back and picked her up with his car. He did go back to his house and call the police, but this was almost certainly a front. Another lady who lived right by the crash also called the police.
According to Butch he apparently proceeded to look for her for a long time that evening and into the late night, but even if she did go off on foot, there's nothing to search... there's only so much road to drive by to see if she's walking along... and it's night time and going off into the woods area would be very limiting at night and besides he claimed he was in his car looking for her, but I digress. This case is occam's razor to the nth degree. He's the last person to see her... his story was pretty fishy and there's so much more. I've also checked out several psychics online on this one and a few in my opinion really hit on it. They came up with a police man or someone pretending to be a cop and a couple even got the bus and exactly how it went down. One psychic said at one point he pretended to drive her to the emergency room later that evening (in his car), but he instead drove her out to somewhere and killed her, she was sleeping in the car as he drove to some isolated location (he moved the body around on a couple different occassions, but it will never be found at this point and Butch died a few years back and so did Cecil Smith).
Some cases fester and frustrate me because I'm uncertain or partially certain... this one doesn't eat at me because I consider it a solved case, even though it's not officially solved with Maura's body being found... the system is so screwy anyways, I only trust that a case is solved when I personally draw that conclusion based on my findings. The only thing I'm not 100% certain on is how complicit was Cecil Smith in this... Did he fail to look closely into Butch because he knew him and he was a friend to himself and the department or did he cover for Butch even though he thought he may have done it? did he assist him in anyway?
Based on how atrociously this case was investigated and handled, leads me to believe that the investigation was corrupt rather than incompetence, but it could be incompetence and/or not looking into their friend lead.

There was a lot of deceptive stuff going on withe herself and her father trying to cover for her legal trouble (not that I blame him many parents would). She had totaled his car the night before, the driver who she hit was in a coma... for whatever reason they didn't check her for a DUI. It's been a while since I looked into this case, so I can't remember the details of why she was going to that area. I realize at face value it may seem as though she's a perfect candidate for fleeing and trying to start a new life, because the gargantuan mess she made out of hers and she has one hell of a track record of problems. She appeared to be struggling with mental issues, etc, but then there's all the crap with Butch Attwood, so I don't think for a second she started a new life for herself somewhere else.

I think the police are also involved in this case. To some extent at least. Or I should say the former admin. Of police in haverhill

Butch Attword is the most probable suspect. Means, opportunity.

Idk. I have a feeling she was struggling w her sexuality; lesbian or bi and possibly had a past of sexual abuse.
I don’t really think she would be moved by a ‘knight & shining armor’ esp. if there was already a guy to offered to help her & she asked him not to call the police so he drove away

With this case I honestly feel like she was drunk driving and starting to be depressed / have an alcohol problem. ..so she crashes the second car but needs to flee the scene because she is drunk and it will ruin her entire life / potential nursing career - its a coincidence someone she " knows " picks her up * possibly doesnt know well but acquaintsnce type - takes her somewhere * possibly with another man - likely whe is raped and kept alive for a while and then killed. I feel like her body was moved once , twice, maybe three times .
