For a few years I worked for this great company. I also helped develop a few products - this is one of them. Might be hard to believe, but the reason why I am actually able to talk about this is because I was given permission to do so and since who better to talk about this than the person who conceptualized the lure and someone who tested it - and that's me.
The new Rapala Magnum X-Rap Stick is Rapala's newest blue water entry. Due to hit the shops soon, this stickbait has a lot of hidden secrets. In this video, I show you what it can do for you. As one of the creators of this lure, I am very proud of how it turned out and I am very excited to have you guys try it out and experience this lure! From being conceived in my car on the way to a tackle shop, to me testing them out and giving feedback on the movement until its release, this is practically one of the highlights of my working with such a great company as Rapala.

This lure is quite big.
The Lake Trout are rather large!
@@lunges62 If 17cm is ok, then by all means :) These lures are casting lures as well. Made for saltwater, but if you can catch lakers on this, I would love to see that. :)
Wondering how this would work for wipers in iowa. I like the action it mite even catch a largemouth now and then.
at this point in time, it only comes in one size. I am hoping for Rapala to roll t he technology out on smaller lures and/or make a smaller size, like they did with the xplode.
Very interesting Kit. It will be really nice if like you said "down the line they will have a smaller one". In the meantime, I guess I could use it stop and go style, trolling off the back of the yak.
ps landed a 12kg mahi bull with a Williamson jet popper off the Stealth on Sunday - that was fun (and great sashimi!)
ps beautiful colours on that green/blue/yellow/silver lure.

@@TheFishingKit Hiya Kit - bit of an update from me on this colour. I found it locally, but on the Xtreme 160, with the shallow angle / medium bill for trolling. I took it to one of my favourite pelagic hunting spots and something slammed it. It took drag for ten seconds and then snipped my mono-leader...above the 6 inches of single strand wire leader I had on it! Naturally, I went back to the shop and bought the last one they had in the same colours. I lengthened my wire leader to about 12 inches and it did the trick! First day of this month I landed a 12kg wahoo, followed a week later with an 8kg wahoo. I know the Xtreme 160 is touted as a faster trolling lure, but I was only going about 3 - 4 knots on my Stealth kayak, and it worked wonderfully. By the way though, I do think the colour was very important. One reason I got the one this colour is because I had a Rapala Long Cast 14 with the smaller bib and that got hit so many times by toothy critters. So, thank you very much for your input. Btw, after two good wahoo fights - one where the bigger wahoo swallowed half of the lure- I really need a new one as this one is scratched to bits now! One more ps - I put some flashing on the rear single and suspect this also make the hook look more fin-like in the water.

what size solid rings do you recommend using??..thanks
I mostly use 50-60 (aprox) line with this lure for mostly longtail tuna, dorado and small/medium YFT, so I use 80lb -100 split ring and solid ring on this. Anything bigger and I use heavier split rings and solid rings on them.

Hi Kit... Have you used the Rapala X-Rap Prop and if you have used scent attractants for soft baits.. apologies this out of the topic ...
yes, I use the UL model a lot. scents, yes, they work well at times.
What size treble hook should I use on the x-rap 17??
Claudia, different brands have different sizing. the best way to determine the best size hooks for any plug is to get the hook (treble or single) put them against the side of the lure in their position and choose the size that sticks out just a tad bit out of the body.
