- Lure review of the Rapala X-Rap Slashbait ripbait. I forgot to mention in the video that these baits have the internal weight transfer bearings to help maximize casting distance while creating the appropriate "rake" to the bait. Most higher quality baits have this chamber.

I own 7 different versions and colorations of the X rap. Honest to god its the crown jewel of my collection. In open water I caught a 8 1/4 pound largemouth that landed me an invite to join the Bassmasters. In the green watermelon color you will own the lake up in Maine!

I just started fishing again after about ten years or so. I used to catch a lot of chub in small creeks as a kid and bullhead, bluegill, pumpkinseed, and green sunfish in Lake Ontario tribs and bays. Recently all i have been able to catch is more of those same panfish. I picked up the 08 in gold and today nabbed my first small mouth and my first black crappie on my first casts under a bridge in a larger creek, back to back! Fun was over when I smacked the lure against the side of the bridge and broke the lip off (oops) but I was pumped to have caught something i never have before. Caught one more small mouth on a crawler and had to get going. This is the first stick bait i have ever even used. Looks like i made the right choice! I'm still learning how to catch some new species and these lures are just the edge i need!
The gold one is my favorite, caught many walleye, bass, pike and even caught a Muskie with it. Simply amazing lure!

I have the glass ghost one and pikes are loving it in any weather condition. One on my favorite lure.

Caught a 46" muskie on the x rap the natural minnow color with red in it. So cool and had a walleye on right after. Never had so much luck fishing until i bought this lure. You must jerk it then pause it , the fish bite on the pause.
Nice lures, I like these in clown, yellow perch, and glass ghost. also work well for me when trolling in the evening for walleye
I got the clown color, big version for a trip in may. And caught a huge pike and 4 lb lake trout-same lake. I love this lure and will be getting more
Rapala X-Rap and the Mepps Syclops are my favourite lures of all time

The black back silver with red head is the best
I was up in the MN Boundary Waters in May and the X Rap Gold was great. I was the only guy out of our 8 man group would was catching Walleye and it was on the X Rap XR10 Gold.
My go to bait in cold water. This and the suspending xr6 size xrap crankbait
Personal favourite for me, i got the clown and perch colours, i use it in all circumstances and catch all species.. Walleye love it, pike, bass, trout, even a muskie

@CYANKS9 These are a great bait to get started in ripbait fishing. You don't have to impart a lot of action to these lures to get them to move well in the water.

xraps dominate the fish scene,.. landed all my fish (bass/walleye) this year on the xrap 8s and 10s ,.. those and the live target pumpkinseed have killed it for me
Lucky Craft Pointer dominates the bass fishing scene. It outsells and out fishes all others combined. You won't buy them because they cost twice as much and you can't do the math. ;)
Could you do a rapala series with a lot of those lures like the jointed, countdown, original, husky jerk etc. or an xrap series with the x rap line of lures.

Damn idk what colors to get! I live in upstate New York fishing the Hudson River and some nice lakes and ponds. I was going to get one clown and one ghost

The clown pattern is your fav? Or just on the x rap. What species targets your clown lure colors in your area?

i love these jerk baits, especially in the spawn. The glass ghost works the best for me.
I take the trebbles off and replace them with Eagle Claw trebbles. The feather tails slow it down and make it not slash as good

when casting, x rap does not fly like a torpedo, but scrolls a little in the air. is this normal or is it a marriage? after all, the wobbler must have a long-distance casting system
@kbullington24 its sweet, but its an in store only deal. most of them are gone they still have them in a couple stores

You should do a rapala husky jerk review im thinking if getting one but I can't find any good review videos about them

Which one would you use if you where saltwater fishing on a pier?
My favorite lure for piers would have to be an xrap countdown or an xrap magnum

+Outdoorsmen101 They work for Pike, yeah. I don't know if they can outfish the jointed for pike, but I've caught them with X-Raps.
JJ's outdoors it sucks when pike bites off 10$
I've caught tons of pike on them but i rarely pick up a bass on them I've even caught a crappie on one
I dont catch a lot of bass on em. But the walleyes smash em after dark
I have trout, gold and glass ghost and I don't have rainbow trout where o live BUT I caught a lake whitefish first cast on the rainbow trout AND my dad lost it second cast.

What is a good size
not really sure why but my xrap took on some water but has no visible defects is this normal?
I have fished it heavily so i might be a goner unless the water doesn't effect the lure
+Emil Tjonneland I would say the lure is probably toast. As far as the durability of the lure goes, they have been pretty good to me in my experience. I've only had one or two of them break.
Thanks for the feedback. I tried it out on the water today its definitely toast it does a fast nose dive on the pause.
