I’m 53 years old...my hero’s are David Gilmour, Jimmy Page, SR Vaughn, Alex Lifesone etc.... it’s nice to see a younger generation of super talented guitarists who will influence kids going forward!
Is it just me, or did Tosin seriously improve at jamming? Btw, love when Plini fakes throwing his guitar when he sees Tosin play at 3:30 , I really love the fact that they're appreciating each others' playing
Nobody there at the time knew it, but there wasa time traveler in the crowd whos job it was to destroy humanity... they traveled back to a random destination and ended up there.. after seeing all these guys on one stage jamming they decided to abandon their mision and stay in the ( our ) present time.. thnks Tosin, Nick, Plini and Dave for saving humanity from destruction with your awesome music.
If Javier Reyes, Travis Levrier, Aaron Marshall, Mario Camerena, Erick Hansel, Sithu Aye, and the guys from the Helix Nebula were also on that stage, that would be heaven...
We nick Mark Michell in the background going at it with Plini’s bass player (blanking on his name...). Just the two of them having a mini jam session behind the guitars (or after the guitars) would be amazing
God right when they transitioned back into Away tears immediately filled my eyes haha. We are absolutely blessed to live at the same time as all of these guys.
1:20 - 1:30 a prime example of quality vs quantity. Honestly I wish Tosen had played that entire turn like that. Sure it's impressive to play a bunch of notes really fast, but God Damn...that was the best 10 sec in this entire video to me. I felt that...
@@BarstucksCoffee Exactly. Simon dials in with Plini like Billy Sheehan dials in with Paul Gilbert. That's a dude you want around for pocket, rhythm and a dude who knows how to LEAD when needed too.
Tosin's and Plini's phrasing always hits me hard compared to some shredders like Herman Li who is blast notes in your phase so hard. All these guys blended fusiony stuff pretty well. Damn I love alotnof the new Jazzy side of Metal.
If you close your eyes the only one who distinguish from the rest it's Nick Johnston. All are wonderful but Johnston sounds timeless and that's his maximum skill: he's the future of guitar but he embraces the past. Not sure about the rest.
Plini about to throw that stranberg @3:31 when Tosin just go full throttle, man what a Jam, so progressively melodic, the level of talent is immersive in more ways than one.
I'm quite shocked to find about this 4 years later, but I am more shocked by the chemistry these musicians have, especially starting from 4:47 onwards, everyone is so in tune with one another and what the other is doing or trying to do, for every lick is so delicately played in succession after the other, creating a seemingly single giant musical piece. It is, in fact, a statement, one about the oneness of all living, for it is the very moment you can witness such a miracle: 7 individual minds have become one.
Man of all the recent videos I have seen this gets me wanting to practice so much. These guys know their theory and I do to and need to work on theory stuff more.
So who's the bearded "Shred Kelly"? That guy is an unsung hero whose name should be added to the youtube title. (For the record I actually totally appreciate this upload/footage @R&M News, I just think it's important all these fantastic musos get the recognition they deserve. :)
That would have been so sick to see live. I saw Plini and Intervals play, so bassiclly Plintervals play with Animals as Leaders in Calgary. They were so sick and my friend was like who do you think is better the intervals guitarist or the plini guitarist and I was like dude I can't tell hahaha.
It's funny when people are losing there minds like What is Going on!? while what is happening is right infront of them. It's funny but man I get it hahaha.
would be so cool if the rest of helix nebula would join a tour as support. pretty sure a lot of plini fans would enjoy it. especially since they are all fans of simon and jake already by now haha
kyjive maybe guthrie and rob might have beaten them in the guitar competition, but you definitely loose in the attitude and personality competition going off of how Ive seen you interact with the other people here.
The appreciation they have for each other is just so amazing.
And also Micic's face when he realises he's coming after Abasi.
came here expecting silver, found gold with this comment!!!
and they say there are no guitar heroes in this generation hehehe
Awesome. The new John McLaughlins, Larry Coryells, these kids are unreal.
Who the hell says that?
They're not "mainstream" enough. Honestly, I hope they remain that way! Creative music for minds that love non repetitive music.
Nick Johnston is my favorite and how he rapes those guitar controls.
Yeah had lost hope there for a while....but the guitar is alive and well!!!
I’m 53 years old...my hero’s are David Gilmour, Jimmy Page, SR Vaughn, Alex Lifesone etc.... it’s nice to see a younger generation of super talented guitarists who will influence kids going forward!
This is mind blowing and euphoric to watch but Jake Howsam Lowe is also on stage and should have been listed.
He's listed in other versions of this but yeah - he's IN Plini, but he's not Plini and absolutely should be acknowledged.
I was pissed nick stood in his way. He had my favorite solo
Imagine you suddenly get thrown in among them and it's your turn to play something... "uhh, here's an em chord"
John Careaga :) I was thinking about that too that would be embarassing
😂
I could play pentatonic over and over
Anyway, here's wonderwall
It's a sweet dream as well as a nightmare
The 4th soloist is Jake Howsam Lowe from the Helix Nebula, and he's a badass guitarist in his own right!
Surprised that didn't include him in the title :/
They didn't*
@@joashbritto yeah he's great, he should be credited here
the amount of talent on that stage is insane
Nick johnston with those muted notes- sounds cool as hell and I've never heard quite that type of percussive style in a jam
He is really fucking good at that
Jake Hammaker i wonder what pickups he uses
@@paulhanwetbe212 Used to be Antiquity Texas Hots buyt it's his own Schecter ones now.
I almost thaught it was Guthrie Govan at first.. XD
Is it just me, or did Tosin seriously improve at jamming? Btw, love when Plini fakes throwing his guitar when he sees Tosin play at 3:30 , I really love the fact that they're appreciating each others' playing
I think it's because he played inamorata opening almost all figured out xD
Johnny Antonny lol true
That's what happens when you go on tour with VAI and Yngwie
Tosin has def gotten better at improv. He's been in the lab bro lol. And yes I'm 2 years late LMFAO
The fourth guy’s second pass was pretty incredible.
Jake Howsam Lowe blew it out of the park. So good!
If Javier Reyes, Travis Levrier, Aaron Marshall, Mario Camerena, Erick Hansel, Sithu Aye, and the guys from the Helix Nebula were also on that stage, that would be heaven...
two of the guys from the Helix Nebula are on stage(guitar and bass)
We nick Mark Michell in the background going at it with Plini’s bass player (blanking on his name...). Just the two of them having a mini jam session behind the guitars (or after the guitars) would be amazing
And Jakub Zytecki
Kindly add chris letchfort, tim henson, scott lepage, misha mansoor, sithu aye and widek
And Chris Letchford, Yvette Young, Sarah Longfield, guys from Protest the Hero...
troy is so good holding the groove tight like that haha
This jam song alone is better than most of today's top 40 tunes.
I love how tosin started playing the solo to "inner assassins"
I love how Tosin began playing the main melody of Inner Assasins at 1:20, EPIC JAM!
The present and the future of metal guitar
Andrea Sciarra *prog
Nick Johnston's not really metal. Not what I've heard from him at least. The other guys definitely are though
@@nicolasfrossard4315 prog, as in progressive. Future = progression, so Andrea Sciarra's right

This cured my cancers
Tosin just got a whole lot better at improvising... nobody is safe now!
God right when they transitioned back into Away tears immediately filled my eyes haha. We are absolutely blessed to live at the same time as all of these guys.
The Avendjent
The rest sounded sounded good but Nick got the most interesting line
1:20 - 1:30 a prime example of quality vs quantity. Honestly I wish Tosen had played that entire turn like that.
Sure it's impressive to play a bunch of notes really fast, but God Damn...that was the best 10 sec in this entire video to me.
I felt that...
Man I always repeat that line from Tosin when I watch this, it's as if words coming right out of that guitar speaking to your soul
If you're wondering, that's the lead melody from his band's (Animals As Leaders) song "Inner Assassins". Amazing song, one of their best IMO.
The joke there was i think that he played exactly Plinis original part
That was a part of one of his songs, not improvising...
Nick Johnston and Plini play great
I cannot help but smile while watching this. :)
New age guitar gods....
Plini is such a musician. Simple tasty notes very sweet phrase
The moment tosin did his first solo in this lineup ...pure magic ...
What an all-star lineup. Being there would have been easily top 3 jam sessions of my life.
Bassist is like: Guys when's my time to play??
Hahahaha
But seriously though, Simon Grove has insane groove and he's carrying that rhythm throughout the jam
@@BarstucksCoffee Exactly. Simon dials in with Plini like Billy Sheehan dials in with Paul Gilbert. That's a dude you want around for pocket, rhythm and a dude who knows how to LEAD when needed too.
Not today bro.. not infront plini, tosin, and nick 😌
2:29 - 2:35 Gave me some guthrie govan vibes :D
Yes!!!
totally
Thought long hair beard guy was him in the beginning lolll
Guthrie would shit on them
Tosin's and Plini's phrasing always hits me hard compared to some shredders like Herman Li who is blast notes in your phase so hard. All these guys blended fusiony stuff pretty well. Damn I love alotnof the new Jazzy side of Metal.
the new generation of shredders
Tosin is THE WIZARD
I wanna see Govan and Petrucci with these guys! So dope
petrucci will slay all of them!! that's a fact!!
The vibes in the audience is beautiful
Never loved Tosin's solos until this video. And other guys are just great!
If you close your eyes the only one who distinguish from the rest it's Nick Johnston. All are wonderful but Johnston sounds timeless and that's his maximum skill: he's the future of guitar but he embraces the past. Not sure about the rest.
Super cool to see a bunch of guitarists geek out over one another! The future is bright for the guitar as an instrument!
This is lit. Tosin is a beast. Plini is my main dude tho
This was the best thing I’ve witnessed in a long time
Nick's looking like Allen from Jumanji. I like it.

High energy noodling in extremis!!!!!!
when tosin used the inner assassins riff I fucking died of laughing
It's here I've seen that plini's phrasing is really something different
Marvellous!!!

Who's the guy between David and Nick? He's super underappreciated IMO His playing wasnt anything to scoff at either!
Chris Fohner Jake Howsam Lowe
That's Jake, plinis second guitarist. He's sick.
Jake Howsam Lowe at 2:27 is amazing with what happens to the music.
Amen!
Tosin.. word man..word
awesome!

Tosin looks like the 6yo who'd invite to play Nintendo until he cleared super Mario Bros in 7min.
Those thumbs be like insane.
I'm a drummer and I got excited
Jake Howsam deserves credit
I feel like Tosin had that practiced and ready to go just to flex lol
Tosin is a quantum of guitar when the others are still in fundamental of physics
The future of prog
Fuck me. That got my eyes watering near the end. Absolutely gorgeous...
They're all great but Tosin and nick are my favorites lol
Epic!!!
It seems that in this session David turned into a ssj2
Nick will alwys be different one
There are 5 shredders...who is not listed?
Bill Niemann - that's the homie Jake Howsam Lowe. Touring guitarist with Plini.

If there could be 3 more added to that group, it'd have to be Jakub Z, Paul Waggoner, and Richard Henshall
Ron Thal and Guthrie would wipe the floor with these guys.
kyjive music is no competition you dumbfuck
Not tosin... tosin is right up there with Guthrie, tosin just doesn't shred as much with all the thumping and tapping he does.
