When I saw Plini live, I was truly impressed with Simon and his bass tone. Really one of the most powerful and deep bass tones out there, and Simon is also one of the greatests
Never gonna happen. You're just a lowly bass player. "why's your guitar missing strings?" they say. "Oh that's cause its easier than regular guitar." You will also never lose your virginity.
Yeah! but wouldnt it be awesome if they made it as loud as its supposed to be in the mix, especially considering that it swaps out for lead parts at times. It's just silly to have him being simultaneously supported but stomped on by the guitar.
I love these guys. I've listened to this album a hundred times, and the previous EPs just as much. This performance was great, but I couldn't help but smirk a bit when Simon botched the bass solo a little. I've never seen him make a mistake in any video I've watched. I guess he really is human and not an animatronic bass-playing machine! (He also landed on his feet wonderfully. As a bass player who loathes solos, I definitely wouldn't have recovered well.) I also adore the moment they made eye-contact and grinned at 3:55. These guys are the best. THE BEST.
the songs sounds and peace oh his art es increible.... makes me cry... and full me with peace.... thanks for put this video here man.... PLINI AND SIMON ARE THE BEST IN THIS ERA
Love the layering, and the melodic playing. Simon is a beast player. I watched Mohini Dey play that part at 3:25 in San Pedro, and she looked in pain lol. Dude just plays effortless.
I learned something about Strandberg headless here, something about bass here, something about good jamming here. Not sure what. It will take a while to sink in, but that tremelo bar is certainly a great too in the right hands. Hand. Fingers. Ola, you out there? Great instruments. GREAT. Oh, this is a Dunlop thingie ...
At 1:08 woman pokes her head around to see the line-up and name of players blowing her mind. Later on a couple of other people poke their head around too once they see a crowd gathering.
Came for the Plini, stayed for the Grove
keep in mind that that is all quintuplets over the underlying 4/4 time signature. Start the tune over and count 1-2-3-4-5

NEVER KNEW HOW MUCH OF THIS WAS BASS damn
yeah i know right! it'd be great if they didn't stomp on its nuts volume wise in the mix, especially considering it swaps lead parts at times.

whats the name of this song??
D.L. Saro handmade cities
I know how good Plini is, but I'd give Simon the credit for this track.
What does that even mean? Did Plini not write this track?
Simon definitely kills on this track
He means that bassline, it's so good
Plini did compose the bass line though, he just doesn't play it
yeaah that bass line is really good.. but simon is off beat some time do quite some wrong notes
You know it's pretty real when the bass player starts playing chords
That bass sound with chords is just something else
Plini's melodies always sound like he's covering a saxophonist who's covering a Plini song.
Sid R. Haha!! Hilarity man!
Sid R. Hahaha, that was truly brilliant!!! :D
Hahaha
That would end up in an infinite circle, holy!!
Sid R. He dropped a track today that just happens to have some great saxophone
Plini is so humble he even helped paint the wall behind em before the gig
😂
I love how melodic Grove’s bass parts are and have lots going on, they’re never boring or just in the background
David Maxim Micic in the audience enjoying the show
Simon Grove is so dang phenomenal like, that's god's grace right there.
Yeah but (unsurprisingly) too quiet in the mix
@@xlaythe When I saw them live this year that certainly wasn't the case. Simon's bass was HUGE in the mix. It was phenomenal!
Saw these guys open up for Animals As Leaders in LA. T'was a glorious experience.
Saw the same thing but in leeds, UK. Not quite as fancy but yeah......
Animals as leaders should be open up for these guys actually
I honestly think this is one of the best pieces ever written and played on a guitar. And the bass is amazing too.
I'm a bassist, and all I want is a guitarist that looks at me the way plini looks at simon at 0:23
Never gonna happen. You're just a lowly bass player. "why's your guitar missing strings?" they say. "Oh that's cause its easier than regular guitar." You will also never lose your virginity.
ignoring my previous comment.... why is simon that low in the mix? its fucking stupid
@@xlaythe hahahahaha, for some reason youtube never told me about your reply. I agree with that too tho, Simon was hard to listen to
Lmao
Roman Arriaga good sport!
What an amazing bassist.... I love it when he plays with David Maxim Micic.
Plini is from the Upside Down.
funyun000 hardly

It´s called Australia.
But they're not mouth breathers.

xlaythe that’s why I just watch simons video play through :)

Simon looked a tiny tad nervous, don't you think?
And, I concur. They are THE BEST.
Cheers.
I love that eye contact moment as well. The bromance is real.
They are so in sync they look away at the same time lol
Rowan A, super real. Just two guys doing what they love and having a blast doing it together.
Do I really need to say that I could not care less what you think I sound like?
0:38 guy in the background getting his funk on
Ryan Privitera LoL xD!
@Garegh62 ok
@@969dramstik lol rite??

What a beautiful guitar tone
this video makes me wanna put my feet into a bowl of warm water
What?

That bass line kills me every time.
too bad its quieter in the mix than it should be :/
Simply amazing! Just phenomenal!
Are you kidding me?? These guys are awesome, look forward to hearing more. Thanks Plini and Simon.
Plini rocks!
Also Simon
but the bassist is total fucking garbage, he may as well have not even been there *eyeroll*
at 0:36 the long hair guy behind simon, definitly a bass player
Grooving to the bassline
Jeez I actually thought that was a girl lul.
I mean do you even need to be a bass player to groove
we all do that while listening to that section
I did exactly the same at the Plini concert last week
Fantastic beautiful performance - I loved it!
NAMM Brought the future with them this year. Nice! Fresh...new take on melodies and chord forms.
yes.
Came for the Plini, stayed for the Simon.
its too bad they put simon as quiet as he is. Even being drowned out during his lead parts.
Not only a kick ass bassist
But also a great sound engineer
I love they way Plini sits, he is so relaxed 🐥❤
Simon Grove is an unsung hero!!
Handmade cities is the track.
Blown away! The sound, the licks man so refreshing!
Simon man your my new favorite bass player, buttery smooth man toooo smooooottthhh
Excellent performance, Dunlop put out good videos.
That bass tone is a dirty killer
This guys got the perfect bro vibes and chemistry between them. Also, Simon giga based guy.
Bass playing: fucking epic. Plini: dont know what I respect more - his playing or that he is comfortable wearing those trousers
More like Simon Groove.
Yeah now if only they didn't turn him way down in the mix.
I swear in all these videos you can see david maxim micic in the audience
i absolutely love this
They fit together perfectly
Did not know that Johny Bravo plays bass that well!
Those bass tone, my god !!!!!
Holy!!! Next level!
Had no idea the bass was played. Impressed.
A-mazing❣
Brooo that friggin Bass grove! Loving it
I can't hear the music over Plini's trousers, but I love the video. The bass in this track and the main melody on the guitar is fantastic.
the tone of the guitar is lit
1:30 simon's solo
Just... *wow* !
Love the layering, and the melodic playing. Simon is a beast player. I watched Mohini Dey play that part at 3:25 in San Pedro, and she looked in pain lol. Dude just plays effortless.
Simon Grove? I think you "Simon Groove"👌🖤
I spy a Way Huge Pork n Pickle! love that pedal just copped one myself!
I’ve watched this about 10 times so far.

Awesome, feeling.
Sheer brilliance
Uff que bueno es Plini con la Guitarra haha

These years later, Simon at 2:30 still kills me...
Bass is on point!
Plini you are a god.
That was awesome
amazing
Wonderful music!
I love drop at 3:42
saw Plini play this exact track just a couple days after this NAMM at an MI clinic. Wish Simon was there as well though, haha.
Awesome stuff! Would be cool to see Plini with Martin Miller.
Amazing!
amazing!!!
Saw these guys in Seattle, in was amazing!
Wow that bassist is so good
great tones, great blend of talent.
a goddamn masterpiece
At the start it sound like Steve Vai ...the riddle / the answer tune.
Love it!
I'm ashamed I've never heard of Simon Grove. Holy shit :O
Sweet!
This song is fucking beautiful!
SIMON IS THE BEST BASS PLAYER ON THE SCENE RIGHT NOW. FO SHO
They should probably turn him up in the mix. At least during his lead parts... annoying
Class love it
just seeing david maxim micic in the corner enjoying the vibes

I wanted to edit "too" to "tool" but realized I don't know how to edit an existing post. Is this something you pay for? Bastards.
Plini so chill with that little oopsie back there. If it were me I'd panic
where ? when ????
The simplicity of the tiny 2 chord pop then into the "Space Walk" response.
It's still 4:4 time, right?

Simon Grove. Nuff said
0:39 ITS DAVID MICIC! We see you lurkin' David ;)
That bass tone, holy shit.
David in the crowd! x
3:08 - That's an amusing approach!

0:58 David Maxim Micic sighting on the left?
Yep. You can see at the very start too, Jim Dunlop's artist lineup includes Plini and DMM at the sane time.
