Just two things. A little bit of wire wheel action would have cleaned up the mating surfaces, ensuring a nice clean fit between spacer and hub. And as another commenter said... Some anti-sieze would help later. Other than that, it does look sooo much better! 😀
Spacers make so much difference in the way the car looks and handles. I put a set on my 1988 M6 running e39 bbsRS740 wheels and the before and after is quite the change, looks way better and more aggressive. Its definitely what your e90 needed.
Wheel sizing, spacing, and offset feels like more of an art than just a ordinary mod. I completely agree with you. Subtle changes like that make a big impact to me. Looking good. And maybe it's time to try out some Mother's Mag and Aluminum polish on those wheels. Has a slight about of grit to it, and can help clean off some off that "baked in" dirt and grime.
Mag and aluminum polish on a stock finish bmw rim? I used that on my billet alloys wheels. For stubborn stuff on these... I would try a little bit of clay bar.
@@Chris-hw4mq wheel spacers have never been considered to be "ricer" mods. Especially not with stock wheels. Ricer mods are things like loud, large exhaust tipped mufflers, loud blow off valves, exterior aero mods, and large spoilers.
I have the ECS tuning ones on my E92 and they're also nice... come with the lug bolts. I also recommend the thread in wheel holder to keep the spacer and bolt holes aligned while putting the wheel on.
Came here to say this. I much prefer proper offset wheels for suspension X over compensation via spacers, adding an additional layer of unsprung weight that wasn't there before...
1 thing that was not really adressed but is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: You have to make SURE that ALL thread in the hub flange is used by the bolt or if the car has studs with nuts: ALL the thread of the nuts need to be used. Do NOT run a car with studs that are TOO SHORT and nuts only half way on. Do NOT run a car with bolts that are TOO SHORT. If you do, threads will shear off (cue "3wheels on my wagon" song)
I have used a brand of spacer called Garageline for years and have been very happy with the quality. I know what you mean about only you noticing the subtle change. My 2017 Ford Focus RS looks great with 20 mm spacers all around. Great video!!
Yep, 15 and 12.5 are what I ran on my e90 with the stock wheels. Such a small thing makes a big difference. Most cars need em to look right. Unless you are running like 3" spacers the leverage on the Bearing is not going to make a difference. Next time you have your lugs off add some anti sleeze, it will make life better when you remove the wheels a year later and you arnt giving yourself a hernia trying to break em loose
They do look better with the wheel out a bit. However, I'd say the manufacturer had protecting the paint on the fender behind the wheels in mind. You are going to kick up more debri onto the sides outside the fender wells. Perhaps you can put some clear ppf on the lower fender just there.
Looks crazy good. Too job🤙 I just went 5mm all round on my 435i. I wanted to keep the executive type look…but not be as narrow as stock. 5mm did make a difference.
I just put a set of 12mm Renn Motorsport from Amazon on my F10 Xdrive BMW with my upgraded 19” oem bMW wheels and love them, just the perfect amount. It appears I have maybe a little less room in back for spacers …. I think I am ordering 12mm there too but would like to go more if possible… I have the car lowered on NeoMax coil overs so it’s really tight. I did spacers on my S5 last year too and they make such a difference…. Although I did get a vibration I had to clean the mounting surface of the rotor and wheel really good before putting on. Your car looks great with them. Like it should look imo
100% would suggest this on a MK6 VW Jetta. For one, not as much to space it just right, and 185k on my factory wheel bearings with ZERO signs of wear without spacers, so what's the harm? VW severely over engineered the wheel bearings on the MK6
I think it honestly looks a bit worse with spacers, but as you said he's happy and that's the goal. Big fan of stock wheels too,so I'm probably not who this was made for.
I must say it made a difference. Would love to get some for the rears of my E36. I love how the front sits but the rears need to be popped out a little 👍
Honestly, it's good looking car to start with, but yeah that does make it look better. As long as there's no risks to the wheels just because they're sticking a little further out it seems fine. Not like you're going to curb your rims because of it.
A year later have you had any issues with these spacers? I'm looking to run these same sizes (12mm and 15mm) on my e46 ZHP with the stock ZHP wheels. The before and after in this is incredible btw.
You know what would look killer on that car, those fake side vents on the front fenders, ala Supercharged Buick. And a big air scoop right in the middle of the hood, like a Subaru WRX. Oh and Fluorescent Neon Pink wheels UwU.... 😏
Beautiful looking work Jake, some cars just cry out lowering and the NC MX5 is one of them -not yur normal demographic for this sort of mode , but I really enjoyed the video
The wheel bearing complaints from spacer haters is so dumb, like any aftermarket wheels with a lower offset is gonna put that much stress on it too PLUS I have seen multiple brands of aftermarket wheels where it almost looks like a spacer was welded directly to the back of a lower offset wheel with how much metal is back there
A lovely looking car, both before and after. Forget looks. The question is whether the spacers made any improvement in the handling department. So far I have yet to see evidence of superiority in BMW cars. On the local on and off ramps I have almost clobbered some because the fancy new BMW had less grip than my ancient, live axle Volvo.
two of mine have 4 wheel air suspension that is super easy to lower. Unfortunately it makes them dive absolutely horrible when lowered. The geometry gets goofy and it develops bump steer problems.
Yeah not my thing especially as the LCI E9 series had a better track anyway I don't really ever go for another failure point tbh but if you love it well it's your car, still love the space grey though, best colour
Yo Jake, noted yer Logic and your car your buisness BUT can i point out a little Scottish Logic. Car was built in Germany to rip up and down autoban. Said autoban is straight with very little bends on it. German friends have done all the engineering why alter it at all and save all the dollars for a good detail package. Makes it look better instant Happy.🤣🤣🤣 PS don't shoot the messenger.
Did Jake ever explain what happened to the blue BMW? It seems that it was there one day, gone the next and, to my knowledge, he’s never said anything about it.
Wheel spacers alter the physics of the car's stress points. NOT a good idea for your suspension, tires shocks or bushings. Looking cool may become very expensive longer term...we will see!
Some anti-sieze or similar around the hub and spacer slip fit to make them easier to remove later might be a plus.

Wheel spacers first ricer mod

The e92 is such a good looking car. I appreciate your commitment to it 👍🏽
I’m glad you like it too. I’ve been running the ksp’s for a year now and I just love the way it looks compared to before.

I have two projects I'm working on and, yes, spacers and stock wheels are in the plans!
Looks much better! Sitting here wondering how my W212 Mercedes would look...
Solid advice on spacers and lug bolts. Looks great!
Might need to do this on my 330i. Good thing you did all the research for me! :D
I need to do this to my Audi S3 8v. I believe 12mm and 15mm are also the right spacers for that car. Need to do some more research.
Great video and thank you for the information on the best spacer setup; I'm going to try a similar setup on my 2010 BMW 335d

I achieved that same stance with a +20 offset... not enough imo, I'm still getting spacers, 20mm rear 15mm front

Uhh.. I ordered my spacers before watching this video, do you think 16mm and 20mm are too much? I also bought 25-50mm springs
I have rubbing issues in the rear. Not on the fenders, just on the fender liner if I have stuff in the trunk.
The "high quality" wheel bolts were double-wrapped so they wouldn't bang together and chip the coating. Or something...
