Breaks my heart that Schubert had to die so young 😔! His melodies in all his works, but especially his late works, were transcendental! The melodies in his unfinished symphony, the 2nd mvmnts in his last two sonatas (the whole sonatas are great), his last song set schwanengsang are all some of the best composition ever on paper!
No olvidemos su Quinteto en Do, con 2 cellos, una especie de testamento. cumbre de la música de cámara y, para muchos (incluido el suscrito) la cumbre de toda la música occidental.
I listened to this in its entirety, admittedly, half-drunk. After an night of surfing and searching with Schubert as my companion, a particularly rousing crescendo focused my attention onto the timeline, revealing, to my surprise, that precisely 1 minute remained. For 1 minute, my half-drunk mind grappled with the final refrain of this melody and the faintest outline of dawn pressing itself through the shapes of the trees. It was ineffably beautiful. RIP Schubert.
I'm listening to this whilst drinking now!!! Man Schubert was awesome. He's an absolute LEGEND!!!!!!!!!!!!!! God bless you Schubert!!!! Thanks for coming down here and giving the world your extraordinary music!!! It's top of the range.
Every morning, I enjoy my te while working and at this moment 12:15 this marvellous piece makes me see through the window and stare at the sun while rising. Thanks Franz.
Dieses "Spätwerk" ist suchterzeugend. Ich wechsle immer mal zwischen dieser hervorragenden Notenversion und dem ( noch mitreissenderen) Trio Gaspard, bei dem auch noch heftig geflirtet wird.
I like the way Schubert thins the texture on particular moments, makes all seem trembley, and then drops a few limpid synasthesia bombs......i always wonder where he gets them from!
I don't remember how I was informed of this but there is a small section of the fourth movement that resembles closely the melody of the Leave it to Beaver Theme aka The Toy Parade. Must've been Bruce Adolphe who pointed it out.
Traditionally, one would put a natural before an accidental is applied to a note in the key signature. In this case, since E is flat in the key signature, in order to write E-sharp, you would need to write a natural first. Most modern editions leave off these rather redundant accidentals, so this score must be a somewhat older edition.
Hi Vulcan. Don't take any notice of the Debussy idiot, he's unsuccessfully trying to be funny. Hey, why not try and learn to read it. Then you will be able to follow scores and understand how it all works. Lots of simple starter books about it around, you can teach yourself. I've been reading music since I was 5 years old and believe me it's never too late to start. Good luck. David A
@@Jason-pt6mp Good point, but with a name like Claude-Achille Debussy he's clearly identifying himself with the nation of France. Those people are renowned for their arrogance and identifying/sneering at people who know less than they do. Which isn't much, by the way.
For everyone who only came here for the 2nd movement: You missed the best part of it. Do yourself a favour and listen to 33:40 .

Good lord that is just musically orgasmic in the best possible way, thank you so much

Schubert is so colorful, his music makes me think of fantastic paintings... he is such a master of moods and worlds.

Novice musician here. Can anyone explain what's up with those grace notes at the end of bar 47? (0:55) Especially the E-natural-sharp.
Listen to Satie's Gnossienne no 1. It has a lot of them, others aren't numerous and the melody is played slowly enough to understand the concept.

It is.

Schubert absorbed Mozart, Haydn and Beethoven and made an alternative Romantic style to Beethoven who used brick like structures.
