Well it's a shame I didn't get in there, but deservingly! Those cadences were amazing! I was 100% sure Daniel was making it in, his cadences are my absolute favorite!
The first one sounds like a mix between the UConn and UD cadences and I love it for that reason
lol the guy who wrote it is one of my best friends and like 75% of our drumline techs and instructors went to/are going to UD
JojnOkirk I figured it was something like that. I’m guessing that both UD and UConn are influenced by the Cadets since the guy who wrote the UConn cadence marched cadets and UD is in the vicinity. (Fun fact, Bergen County is the midpoint between UD and UConn)
Kazi Iqbal oh that’s right! i forgot to mention the guy who writes all our battery music marched cadets and went to UD plus almost all our pit techs marched cadets so yeah good ear! you were dead on!

The second cadence Was probably the most sorted and inclusive, ngl it slapped and the most underappreciated part of the drumline (Basses and cymbals) had a bomb part to play the backdrop.
Under appreciated until literally there aren’t enough people in the drumline to play cymbals lol
I enjoyed all the cadences, but once again Kyle the Cadet stood out to me.

When I saw nighthawk originally I knew it was getting in there, that shit slapped. I knew mine wasn’t gonna make it cause I wrote a flub part, it didn’t say write a flub part but... it didn’t say not to, gotta give the flubs some love. I also explicitly made sure to notate that the flub part could be substituted for pit on bongos/timpani and agogo bells, you know, things most bands have, just so lit doesn’t feel so left out

Man this makes me almost miss high school marching band, but we were military so our cadences were all one bass drum some cymbals and 3 or so snares. Still fun to play though.
We need to get this man to 100k. Through any means necessary.
Okay, if I were still in high school, I bet you that our school would have used that Wii Shop Theme for our marching cadence. Homecoming parade, and ESPEICALLY the big parade we did, I can only imagine us playing that followed by our usual song. I know, because for two, maybe three years, not sure, we played the Dr. Mario Chill theme as our marching cadence, it was awesome.
Honestly my favorites were the first 3 just for their sound, mood, and tenor features

Hey Eric, I'm a freshman, playing Bass 4. I'm sure I'm not the only one who could use some help and or tips going into this marching season.
I only marched bass half a season, and there were no splits. But from reading and trying to write music, i have a few tips.
1. Learn To play your bass music without the other basses
2. Don't rely on the other basses too much , mostly think about your part to avoid mistakes.
3. Learn All the bass parts, get familiar with what the other basses are playing and when, so if you need to rely on them at some point you have a point of reference.

Zach, if you can, use a highlighter on just your part in the music. The others have it right: learn YOUR part, by count. If the whole bassline does that, cleaning will come easy and y'all will sound great!
Do a lot of back and upper body work outs and stretches especially if you’re using a harness (I used a harness in middle school and a strap in high school) and work on counting ALOT

I don't get it... for Super Summer Bois, uh... are there meant to be marching steel drums and a marching piano? Not that those things are impossible, of course, but it doesn't particularly jive with my own feeling for what a "cadence" in particular, should be.
Jiggy Jiggy is my favorite so far by a huge margin. Of the first three, it's the only one I could really imagine myself marching to.
I liked parts of Nighthawk, but there were also places where it became kind of difficult to keep track of the 1. If that's the case even with you playing basically flawless-clean with yourself, on camera, with perfectly synced audio, then imagine marching in a parade with a 200+ member marching band where some band members are far enough from the drums that sound delay and echoes off of buildings can start to get confusing.
