It's such a shame to read comments like this. This to me says your belief system is based on only good looking men doing well with women which is simply not the case. There is so much more at play when dating. In regards to your point on losing half your wealth, indeed this is a risk, especially over a long term relationship so manage it. In my case, I'm getting a pre-nup financial agreement.
