- Barry Manilow Even Now Reaction
1. I feel like a lot of the first 1/3 of the song has a lot of Richard Carpenter feeling to it. Or I've been watching too much Carpenters.
2. Late 80s ? Sounds really new.
3. His performing style does not change with age. I wonder is everyone is like that.
Even Now
Barry Manilow
Even now when there's someone else who cares
When there's someone home who's waiting just for me
Even now I think about you as I'm climbin' up the stairs
And I wonder what to do so she won't see
That even now when I know it wasn't right
And I've found a better life than what we had
Even now I wake up cryin' in the middle of the night
And I can't believe it still could hurt so bad
Even now when I have come so far
I wonder where you are, I wonder why it's still so hard without you
Even now when I come shining through, I swear I think of you
And how I wish you knew, even now
Even now when I never hear your name
And the world has changed so much since you've been gone
Even now I still remember and the feeling's still the same
And this pain inside of me goes on and on, even now
Even now when I have come so far
I wonder where you are
I wonder why it's still so hard without you
Even now when I come shinin' through
I swear I think of you and God, I wish you knew
Somehow, even now Видеоклипы

I guess after a career spanning 50 yrs....if it ain’t broke don’t fix it...
Dolly Parton, Shania Twain, Steve Perry for a few. Steve Perry put a new album out titled "Traces" out.
This is a very old song actually.
The song is from the 1978 album "Even Now". There are much better performances of this song out there. One of them is considered an "acoustic" version which was done as a bonus track on his "Greatest Hits of the Seventies" album. Give that a listen (it's on RUclips). Gorgeous vocal. Best I've heard of all.
We love you Barry ❤❤❤❤
Barry Manilow is one of the very best, he puts 100% into everything he sings!
yeah he's a great showman. that's something I love about him. He's got this thing where he releases unreleased songs like once a month but only for a weekend. It's pretty cool.
Hi, just found your channel. Saw Barry and had to stop and watch. Just subscribed.
EVEN NOW is my favorite Barry song. Barry wasn't my first concert but the first I went alone with a friend. (before were concerts with family members) I saw Barry 4 times in the 1980s. You stood in line overnight in those days for tickets. 10th grade was my 1st Barry concert and I remember my mom saying not to pass out. Yes, I was in love with him then. I remember thinking, "pass out?"..."No way and miss the concert".. 🤣
You need to listen to him singing this in the 70's. he is starting to sound old... bless him..... When he could hit those high notes with ease. he was magnificent.....
He's on tour now. You can still see him. He is wonderful.
This is one if his BIGGEST hits. Released in 1978. One of the best things about watching him live is his facial expressions and his humility. Just love Barry. He's 77 now, but will never quit what he loves doing...music!!
He seems like just a legit nice guy when I see him on videos.
Jaybriel Akoi I believe he’s a very very nice guy! Totally loves his fans. If you ever watched American Idol, one of the last season I watched, probably 10 years ago now, he was on as a guest arranger and arranged a bunch of newer hits in different ways for the contestants. Man, is this guy talented!! All of them sounded really good a different way. And seeing him on there and his interactions with younger singers, he is yes, very nice 😃❤️
This song brings back a great yet painful memory. Thanks.
I love great yet painful memories they're so bitter sweet
One of his best albums that came out in the late seventies or early 80's and that is what the album was called. Nor Richard Carpenterish as if you had heard the original, his voice is unfortunately different. He still does many of the performancing things he did early on when "Even Now" came out, only not quite as dynamic as when it first was recorded. Only one exception to that is he still could hold that note at the end of "Even now". I have been following Barry since 1974 and know mostly all his songs and the way he performed and sang them at different times of his career. Thank you Jaybriel for looking at this one by Barry.....................................Betsy Basile
His music relates alot to my life...absolutely love his story telling and he reaches deep
Ya love his emotion in his song. I absolutely love it.
Barry Manilow wrote this song and it came out on April 14 1978. I remember, because that song came out on my 15th. birthday and I am a huge Barry Manilow fan.
that's awesome. See in a couple decades i'll be doing 90s reactions and I'll be able to telll stories like that.
Happy belated birthday. God bless you!
This is a great performance by Barry Manilow. I'm happy that he's still performing. When you mentioned Richard Carpenter, that naturally triggered my appreciation for Burt Bacharach. Those are three composers that I remember and like. Barry Manilow, Burt Bacharach and Richard Carpenter.
You know what Jay? Even Now is 70s...but the performance you saw is 2016....thats why..but you are right! it IS Richard Carpenterish!!!!!
I must be listening to too much carpenters.
That is 70's and so is Barry Manilow
Facelift and Even Now is from the 1970s
I love his singing.
I've seen Barry in concert 8 times...the last time was in Green Bay WI about 4 years ago. He sang "Even Now" and it was just amazing. At his age (late 70s), the concert was absolutely fantastic! What was fun was seeing young people loving him. I had a blast!
thank you for the reaction! This song is from the 1978 album titled Even Now (which was nominated for a Grammy) & song was written by Barry & Marty Panzer. Manilow is such a great arranger this song is timeless! He gives such emotional performances this is why he has such a loyal fan base better know as Fanilows! Yes all his performances are this intense!
yeah the Fanilows. It's understandable though, his songs have staying power. Like if I heard one of his songs on the radio that I didn't know I'd assume it's a modern day pop song.
It's showman ship.... He's always been that way. This is still in the late 70s Thank you for doing Barry Manilow. Try his wonderful song One Voice.
Even his recent stuff he shows his awesome showmanship. Weekend in new England is super good too imho
We were very fortunate to go to his goodbye tour, he put on a great show.
well he's still doing stuff in vegas right.
Barry Manilow wrote this song. It from the 70's.
Loved the song and Barry sand it so well.
Barry is great. I have no idea why he isn’t a more popular oldie.
This live version is one of my favorites
It IS Richard Carpenterish....While I love Karen....it works for Barry too.......but...Karen had the voice of an angel......God love her
yeah I feel like i like certain singers singing certain ways or certain things.
My all time favourite BM song...swoon...:-)
This makes me cry every time i heard this song 😭😭
This song is definitely not new it was released in 1978. It’s beautiful song
Barry Manilow's song "Even Now' was released to radio a month before the album in 1978 I not only love Barry Manilow's music but I also love Karen and Richard Carpenter. Barry's "Even Now" and Richard Carpenter's "Now" the two songs chorus's sound a little like they echo with different lyrics music sounds the same. Karen Carpenter tracked the song "Now" in the studio the night she came home. She died from a heart attack her Anorexia had weakend her heart too much. Here are the lyrics "Now"
Now, Now when it rains I don't feel cold
Now that I have your hand to hold
The winds might blow through me but I don't care
There's no harm in thunder if you are there
And now, now when we touch my feelings fly
Now when I'm smiling I know why
You light up my world like the morning sun
You're so deep within me, we're almost one
And now all the fears that I had start to fade
I was always afraid love might forget me, love might let me down
Then look who I found
[instrumental solo]
The winds might blow through me but I don't care
There's no harm in thunder if you are there
And now, now, now when I wake, there's someone home
I'll never face the nights alone
You gave me the courage I need to win, to open my heart and to let you in
And I never really knew how, until now, until now
No, I never really knew how
Until now
It’s great that Barry is still going. I love watching his newer videos. He’s a very confident performer. If I was still a musician I’d probably watch him just to gain better stage presence.
You should check out the live video of "Another Life".. Early 90's.( Posted by Barry himself.) One of my favorites is some concert footage around 1979 where he chats with the audience, talks about writing jingles, and sings part of the Dionne Warwick song " I'll Never Love This Way Again". (Daily motion video " All the Time" live at the Wembley Arena by White Label Promo). He also made some actual videos for some his songs like Lets Hang On (an old Frankie Valley cover)...that one will make you smile! 😀
Marty Panzer wrote the lyrics and Barry Manilow wrote the music. Marty is amazing, he's written so many great songs.
he has a dramatic style. Overlyflamboyant and over the top...I like that.
@@jaybrielakoi7747 Jim Steinman is also a brilliant writer. Just pick any of the songs he wrote for Meat Loaf.
interesting..ya never heard of that guy.
@@jaybrielakoi7747 Look up the album Bat Out Of Hell.
There is a twenty or so minute medley he sings and it's awesome. I'm guessing, but maybe 25 years ago live in concert. The band is setup in risers, three levels and he does everything from Mandy, Copacobana, I Write The Songs to Daybreak and everything in between. On the main stage is a piano, stool and him.
ALL of his big hits were recorded in the late 70's early 80's. This RECORDING is after 2010 from a concert
I’ve seen a lot of his recent stuff in Vegas and he hasn’t missed a beat.
The song is about when he left his wife Susan for a music career. He loved her very much but had to go for the music, it was so powerful in him. Earlier performances of this song are more emtional I feel. But this one is good .
If it ain't broke... don't fix it.
Another Barry Manilow song is called Copacabana. You might be interested. It's very different from his other songs
Ohh I know that one for sure .
The piano isn't low. The stool is high up. If he sat on a normal piano bench his knees would be in his chest and likely impede his diaphragm somehow.
Released 1978
I love this guys presentation.
You had to listen to the studio version of the song. ruclips.net/video/wiwx2J5Kh6c/видео.html
Even Now is a beautiful song. Wow, his voice has changed a bit now that he's much older.
The problems i find with a well-known artists who has grown a big catalogue over the years is that when they perform live in their "later years", they simply can't compete with their younger selves. Don't get me wrong, the old guy still sounds pretty good, but he has that older singer vibrado in his voice that is distracting (to me). Good for him for being able to maintain a career over the decades (was he still performing up to pre-covid?). I just have these kinds of feelings when I see/hear elderly performers and singers.
Good thing that the Vegas Hilton doesn’t share your opinion as he had a residency there pre-Covid ! He has been there since 2018. This is his third residency in Vegas & every residency was voted the best show in Vegas!
@@deannebenkert6700 Good think I live in America where I can still state my opinion in a respectful way. You keep on watching your man. Too bad I stepped on your toes and made you cry.
@@kev7161 😂😂😂 as if you opinion could make me cry ! Yes I will continue attending his concerts 50 & counting! I will never deny your right to your opinion. I’m sure you will never deny my right to disagree with your opinion as my opinion state facts & is still respectful! You might want to try being respectful when disagreeing to a response to your opinion!
What I find interesting about Mr. Manilow is I have always loved most of his songs. He's a great writer and musician. However, I have never really liked his singing voice. At the same time I cannot imagine anyone else singing his songs. I don't want anyone else singing his songs. they are unique to him and to his voice. Richard Carpenter would not be able to sing Manilow songs. I think Karen did a couple of his songs and they were nice but only Barry can sing them in the style they need to be sung. Barry has written for other performers but they are written to match their voice style. As far as your reactions they are peculiar to me. You come up with the oddest things to point out and you mention very little about the artists themselves. You like and are drawn to things that no one else would ever look at. At times I think you are only hearing the instruments and the artist is just an afterthought.
ya so I'm a brass player so if I'm not paying attention as much to the singer it makes perfect sense and I'm sure you're right. When I'm backing up a singer I'm not paying attention to him at all because that's none of my business.
As for his voice....ya I'm kinda right there with you. His voice ain't the greatest but it has to be his voice with those songs. I think I just like Barry as a whole.
I remember in High School my band director talked for like 15 min about how he didn't like Barry's voice and thought he was out of tune often....then he proceeeded to talk all about how he loved barry for the next 30 min. So ya I think we are in good company of many. But lets be honest....it's not the voice for him...it's just him.
@@jaybrielakoi7747 Cool. I gained some insight about your reactions which makes sense now. I agree with your assessment.
too sad...I dont like this song
