I did this mod to my 2021 SR5 TRD Sport Double cab tonight. I measured 1 inch from the tip of the hanger and cut at a 45 degree angle. I was a bit freaked out when it didn't seem to catch the backwall anchors. When you fit the seats back in the floor and backwall with the screws it snapped right on when I manipulated the lower seat. Flawless victory! Thank you very much for posting this video. My 4 star tire lugnut tool has a new home with a mini toolbox, jumper cables, and assorted other tools that wouldn't fit under the rear seats.
Yes! Glad it worked for you, I had to use it a few times to get the rhythm of locking the seat back on the hook by lifting the bottom to around 45 degrees... The hinge mechanism of the seat must be deliberately designed for this. The downward motion of the back happens when the seat bottom drops to make this mod possible. Congrats on unlocking your bonus storage!
Thank you, I would encourage wetting any masking rags so they are less flammable. Some one suggested it to me after the fact and I should have thought of it myself. lol
Great question! I do not know. Our back seat area is for storage and not for passengers. The seat does still lock completely in place. The other option was to remove it entirely but I don’t have a good place to put it since we travel full-time. ~Andrew
Great video...!!! Since I needed to install some low-profile 10" powered subs behind the rear seat... I watched your excellent instructional video 📹... After watching you... took my about 15mins to get it done...!!! Fortunately I already own a welding blanket...😉 Thanks... 😎😎😎👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Thanks for watching, Something I read at the time suggested 3/4" to 1" or so and to give it a little angle so it slides in and hooks. I wish I put a still in the video to show it- Sorry!
@shaysingletary98 Glad it worked for you! So much storage space opens up for tools or whatever- I agree they should have just made it that way to start with!
Hi, Thanks for watching- I looked for a pic, I can't find one. I have a Crewmax Tundra now so I can't take another. I should have put a still pic in the video, sorry about that.
Awesome vid man thx for showing
Thanks! Hope it helps.

Glad to help, it was definitely worth it for us. Thanks for watching!
Very detailed and helpful. Thanks! P.s. great looking golden you got there!
Thank you! We are just starting out but I can already tell he is going to be a star.
How would the crash rating be affected by this mod?

🤔🤔🤔...
WET the "masking rag" before cutting...!!!

I have regrets. Sometimes I have to learn the hard way? Thanks for watching!

That is a great use of that space!
@@clearconcisecourteous9647what subs did you use? Any pics or video of your build?
Awesome, but how did you know how much to cut off?
I just did mine. Works great thank you for sharing .

@@airstream_wheeler it was 1 inch cut from tip worked prefect. Wish Toyota would have done it at the factory.

can you take a picture that shows where exactly to cut on the hook?
