    I have an interesting story on Suzuki's SCX vs. Sirius, i could not decide between the two, so got both. Straight acoustic playing, the SCX is brighter sound, I didn't understand the difference until I put them on a pro studio recording system...there the Sirius shows it's stuff. Better saturated sound, richer, smoother,and better liked by listeners- no comparison, There is a reason the Sirius costs about 4x the Sirius, and that reason is quality sound. But you'll have to put it on professional sound equipment to hear it, just playing at home, they're both great. That said the SCX is the best value on the market, but the Siruis is a better harmonica...maybe the best in our time.

    Well this is an old but goodie, Jason. I use both of these harps myself and I experience a different feel between them but I appreciate this opportunity to hear the difference in sound - which, in this case is there. The Sirius is, as I would have expected a bit deeper - but only a little. Nice demo and great playing too.

      Of their price was similar, should I go with the SCX or the Sirius?

    Odlicna prezentacija.

    Possibly the coolest harmonica video on the Tube! And your twin is really good, too!!!
    Sirius-ly, Jason, this is so good you should have 100 times the views. And I know how you can do it, too: Rename it "Playing With Myself."

    Excelentes músicos. Ambas as harmônicas são boas, a SCX 56, me parece com um som mais brilhante. Parabéns, gostei!

    I'm just getting into chromatic harps looking to buy my first one, I have regular gig spots and looking to add in the chromatic so this kind of vid is spot on, can't believe Its taking me so long to start listening to jazz type music especially on the harmonica, a whole new world!. Cheers fae Bonnie Scotland

    Blues Bop! You are the man! Not many play this tune. Last I heard was Dave Grusin's version. Question, sir: what is your "go-to" harmonica? I noticed you have a few. 56 hole versus 64 hole? Any preferences? Thanks for all you do, man!

    I think my next one is going to be the Seydel Saxony. Suzuki does make some amazing chromatic harps though.

    Hey Bluesbop, where can I find Suzuki Harmonicas on the internet, which aren't fake from Asia....?

    • @Bluesbop
      @Bluesbop  6 лет назад

      Rockin Rons carries them, as well as Danny G at New Harmonica.com. I doubt the harps from Japan are fake though, there's just no U.S. warranty.

    So nice. I admire your work. Would you please comment on any percieved differences in playability? I'm considering buying a Sirius but suspect the extra expense over the SCX might not be justified in my case. Thanks!

    As usual, very well played ! :-)
    I prefer your sound with the Sirius which has a clearer and brighter sound.

    I purchased the SCX-48 a month ago and love it. I just purchased the SCX-64C online and am awaiting it in the mail. Love these harps.

    Very good !
    However, I have not heard any real differences between these two harmonicas.
    Pesonnellement, I prefer the Sirius for its playing comfort

    You know, Jase, the SCX has more "presence". It's tone is a little less sweet but somehow I like it better (!)

    Well, there is a difference in playability, but the SCX is the best harp in it's price range, period. I've been on a buying jag, (again) and there's no comparing Suzuki's for tightness and playability. The Sirius is my favorite harp, but I play the SCX all the time. The 14 holer (56 reed) is worth checking out if ya dig jazz. that low G is SO handy for playing the head on zillions of tunes. From "Sugar" to "Ipanema". It takes a little getting used to, but I can't function without it now...

    I think the Sirius has a slightly brighter top end.

    Looks so easy, doesn't it?..well, you've either "got it or you don'"... this chromatic is an interesting instrument!..so small, you can put it in your pocket and play it at a moments notice!.."way to go!"..

    I was ready to bitch about the absence of cupping here, but then I realized it's a test.

    • @Bluesbop
      @Bluesbop  11 лет назад +1

      Haha. I don't cup Bro. BTW neither does my hero Toot's. When I "cup" it's got coffee in it!
      I prefer that pure, clean sound! But if you like to "cup"- go for it! I'd love to hear your videos...got any? Cheers!

    • @sc7prim
      @sc7prim 11 лет назад

      Bluesbop Thanks for the explanation, your playing is great. I'm kinda Larry Adler fanboy so cupping is something I always notice. Players like you put me to shame, so I'm unsure about any clips of me in close future. Guitar maybe, but not harp.

    Personnellement,j'ai retiré le métal à l'intérieur du SIRIUS.Celà l'alourdit pour rien. Cependant l'embouchure argent et les capots sont de meilleure qualité sur le SIRIUS.Mais la différence de prix est exagérée,on joue aussi bien avec le SCX.

      I didn't know the mouthpiece had a different material. That's interesting.
