Karima setting the standard for what a great product review is! Includes swatches, does her research, tests foundation for weeks, uses different primers, doesn't use blurring filters, compares to other foundation in the brand's line, has check-ins, wear test longer than 8 hours. Honestly, A+, 10/10. Thanks for putting in so much effort, it's really appreciated.

hey karima ! just wondering what exactly is dimethicone? and is it something that you prefer in your foundations?
(this is a solid comment btw fpl :))

Chacha I’m not Karima, but dimethicone is silicone, so it is a silicone based foundation vs an oil or water base.

Sheer Glow is a holy grail foundation for me and as a combo skinned girl who sufffers from breakouts - I could never use glowy foundations b/c they were too shiny and enhanced imperfections. Sheer glow was the answer to my prayers. It's not the foundation that is sheer, the glow is what is sheer. :)

Hi, I wanted to say that I REALLY enjoyed the format of this video: it was so well thought out, intuitive and informative, especially with the swatches and comparison to such a cult classic! Bravo! Might I made a cheeky video suggestion here? A review of the Pat McGrath Mothership Palettes: it seems to be a palette that polarises opinions, people love it or absolutely don’t think they are worth it. I would love to hear your take on it!

As a point of interest, I am a cool-toned person but love the NARS foundation range. I find the yellowness of their foundations fights a lot of the redness in my skin and actually evens things out much better for me!

I have both foundations. I’m 53 yrs old and SHEER GLOW is in my top 5 foundations of life, and I alway have a bottle working. The new radiance is good, but not I probably will not repurchase once my bottle is gone. I’m NC15 and use GOBI in both formulas.

I actually mix the both of them and its my favorite combo! I was close to returning the Long Wear Foundation but the way I looked at the end of the day was Flawless! I just couldn't. It looked good to start off and Soooooo much better after a while. Perfect! My current favorite combo. 💕

So I’ve had a few days of wearing the new Nars foundation, and I am in love! I did however need to experiment with different application techniques (I’ve settled with using fingers first and then finishing off with a beauty blender for a more seamless finish). I have combo, leaning to more dry skin, and found that it wears beautifully throughout the day unlike previous foundations I’ve tried. I definitely agree with the foundation being prone to transfer however I always set my face which doesn’t make it an issue for me xx

    • @RosaDaniello
      @RosaDaniello 6 лет назад +2

maybe that's because you have dry skin. I tried the sheer glow because one of my friend had it and I wanted to buy it but I didn't like that foundation AT ALL. I'm not sayng it's horrible, but I would've regret spending my money on that :/ I have very dry skin and during summer it still looked a bit drying on my face and creased in the smile lines. I have to say tho, it stayed on all day so logevity was on point. I just didn't like the cakey effect and as it was very hot during summer I hated that feeling on my face. (On a side note, that foundation was perfect for my friend that has a normal skintype and I'm so jelous T_T)

I love the radiant long wear on my skin, been wearing it for like 6months now. But My major problem with it is that it transfers allll the time. I personally prefer foundation that doesn’t transfer. I actually started using the sheer glow for three days now and still assessing.

I know this is an old video but I felt the need to comment. The moment you mentioned you have dry skin, I was like YES finally! And when you said you had eczema and dermatitis I immediately subcribed. Theres too many channels focused on oily skin or dry and perfect skin that I can't relate to at all. I'm gonna binge your vids now. I didn't know radiant longwear was dimethicone based, no wonder it feels so good to apply *-*

Interesting that you get such good wear out of Sheer Glow. I just can never get that formula to work on my face. It either fades really fast or if I use a primer, it lasts better but breaks down and looks patchy on my chin. I was excited to see yet another new formula from NARS but then equally bummed to see it wasn't brought out in Siberia which is kind of the gold standard for a really yellow pale shade. Most very fair shades are neutral or pink leaning and while I can make those work, I have to admit something with yellow looks better and helps take down the redness better. I kind of wonder if I need a fresh bottle of SG, but ugh.

Some of the most helpful swatches I have seen! I tried a sample of Gobi in this and for me, it's not the same as the shade in sheer glow or ADWL; it or a bit more peach, maybe? Gobi tends to be a really great olive shade (Fenty 140 is similar) and this one just didn't work for me because I couldn't get it to play nice with any of my primers and felt like it never set. This was one of the best reviews I have seen!

I have combo skin so the struggle is real trying to find something that won't stick to my dry spots and also won't crumble around my nose and chin. I would love to see you do a video series with your top five favorites in each category! Maybe a video on favorite lip products and shades.

Hi! Saw your name suggested on reddit for dry skin. I have dry skin as well and I’m happy to know that we have the same shade (NC25) if you still are at this time since this is 2 years ago 😅 I was also searching about Nars radiant vs Giorgio Armani and haven’t decided a shade for either. I tried a sample of sheer glow from Mecca on shade Punjab. Kinda look slightly dark on me, looks matte, heavy and drying. So that’s out.
I’ll be watching more of your videos, and just here to say hi and glad to have found you 👋

I love the new NRL foundation! It's so good! I have combination skin and it wears beautifully, long, and well for me. I get a nice, natural glow from it, which is perfect. Not overly glowy and not matte, either. I like how light it feels on my skin and how easily it applies (while I love a good sponge application, I have to agree with Mr. Nars that fingers work even better with this one). AND, and - let's not forget that this is the first Nars foundation that actually matches my pale, cool skin! Oslo is a win. I've never had a true match before. My only small complaint is that it does gather a bit in my expression lines throughout the day, but not terribly so (and even less so when I apply with fingers).

This was a really excellent video and the work you put in to provide an informed opinion really showed. I find that a lot of YT beauty "gurus" just show lewks and don't really showcase the (assumed) acquired knowledge they've gained doing makeup (ex: different ingredients types within products and how they perform with other products as well as their skin). I hope this is the direction you start taking as I really enjoy how you communicate your POV!

I tested this foundation for the first time today! I used a pore minimizing primer so not tacky at all and I was a bit shiny around my t zone about 8 hours in. And it’s winter in Canada so no sweating whatsoever. It is beautiful though. My skin type is combination, but I absolutely adore Armani luminous silk and Nars sheer glow so...who knows what’s going on with what my skin likes. I find Matte foundations WAY too cakey and settle into my fine lines. I’ll try it with a tackier primer tomorrow.

I have normal skin but when I wore this foundation, I touched the side of my face and there was a patch where my bronzer had been. I love love love how my skin looks in photos but it does wear off quickly. I love the shade range though because I am extremely olive-yellow and a lot of brands even with 40 shades don't have a shade with a good yellow undertone for me. This one isnt perfect but it's very close and if I mix two shades I get a good result. I'm seeing a lot of mixed reviews on this but I truly believe it's about how you prep your skin.

Karima this is what I like about your reviews - you set things in context. This is just like when you compared Morphe brushes to Zoeva brushes. As someone with dehydrated and slightly oily skin, i didnt get along with this at all. It definitely transferred on me despite setting with powder, but my main gripe with it is how oily I got at the end of the day - more than with other foundations and more than with no base makeup at all. Glad i got a sample to try vs. purchasing the full size right away. Also glad it works well for you!

I agree with you, it’s very similar to sheer glow. I have combo skin, with rough patches. I needed a winter foundation like sheer glow but a little light weight and this fits the bill. It does glide better than the sheer glow which I actually like. Of course just like sheer glow it’s not the perfect foundation but it gives me good coverage and still looks like skin.

I am so glad I found you! We have the same skin type including the eczema and we’re the same shade 🙌🏼 Also this is the first video in a while where I’ve actually learnt something. You are amazing, my new favourite!

I find that sheer glow emphasizes my texture so much. I think it might be the primer I use or powder

I’m glad that they expanded their shade range, but they also took away almost all of their fair neutral and yellow shades. They were one of the only brands that had great fair shades like that. The lightest yellow shade now is Gobi, which used to be like the fourth. The lightest three shades are all pink now, and I have like Simpson yellow undertones. I just don’t understand why they didn’t add the new pink shades to the existing line up.

"Simpson yellow undertones" That made me seriously laugh out loud. I'm quite neutral, like neutral olive (not warm olive, that's too orange) but I can get away with neutral yellow undertone products, though I've always found Nars foundations to never be neutral, either warm or pink. When I swatched Mont Blanc in store it seemed a lot more warm toned than it does on Karima's arm, but, I'm also the same color as a sheet of paper, and you did say you're very yellow....
Nars seemed to do a good job in terms of a gradient of colors, but missed the mark on tones... But, they usually do for my white olive skin, so.

Gobi has never been the fourth lightest yellow shade. In Sheer Glow it is the second lightest sitting between Siberia and Ceylan (which is actually lighter than Fiji, despite being described as medium). Other than that, I completely agree! I don't understand why they would eliminate Siberia and Ceylan from this foundation and instead add a bunch of peachy tones. Now people with an NC10 and NC20 skin, won't have a match. NC10s would have to lighten Gobi with a white mixer and NC20s would have to use Deauville, which is neutral. Also, I guess it's a subjective matter, but I personally find peach undertones to be very unflattering and even aging on fair skins.

PlugInKali I was counting their fair neutral shades because they’ve always leaned pretty yellow to me, but yeah technically it’s never been the fourth “yellow” shade.

I'm super dry, mature skin, and the only NARS foundation I can wear is the tinted moisturizer. But I won't buy anything from Nars since they decided to sell in China a and are now not cruelty free. But I love miss Karima, and this is a great video, as all of hers are.

I have normal to dry skin and HATED this foundation! It dried out my skin sooo bad. My whole face looked so crusty, I couldn't wait to get home and wash it off. And yes, I was properly moisturized and primed beforehand. Even Estee Lauder Double Wear looks 100x better on me than this.

Love your reviews. Always so thoughtful. I have a sample of the NARS radiant longwear foundation but I've only worn it once and I wore it super sheered out. On my normal to dry skin I thought it looked great. I'm going to try it out in a more full coverage application for my next night out. I'm in the shade Salzburg and it is my PERFECT winter shade.

Such a comprehensive and thorough review (as usual)! Your videos are such a pleasure to watch. I was wondering have you tried the YSL all hours foundation? I was curious what your thoughts are on it and how it compares to the Nars Radiant foundation. Love you! ❤️

Another fantastic review: thorough, well-articulated, and with two wear check-ins! I especially liked the side by side comparison with a standard NARS foundation. And how you had previously used the formula to assess alternate application tools.
How does this foundation compare with your 2 HG Armani foundations?

Curious about its comparison to the All Day Weightless Foundation...all the descriptions/reviews of it sound just like it. And the ingredients are very similar.

I have combination skin. I have tried the sheer glow, and I loved it. Even today, I still love it. I bought the All Day Luminous foundation to try something new. It wasn't worth the money for me due to one thing; it settled down on my dry patches, which are around my cheeks. It looked even more horrible through-out the day. This is how I experienced the weightless foundation.

monkiique I have to agree - it settles so terrible in all the texture that I have. I will definitely give this or the sheer glow a try next! Thank you!! Xoxo

Its my favourite foundation and i have mature skin combination, you could wear if oily if you set it down well with a mattifying powder and not wear anything greasy underneath it.

I always that build up around my nostril, no matter the foundation. I started to push the center part of my nose (columella) to the opposite side to have better access to the area. Looks hella weird but it really helps blend & have less build up.
