I think karima’s one of the most underrated beauty youtuber! And sometimes I wonder if people stop watching because they have spent too much because of her 😂
YES! When I started doing makeup, I SWORE by MAC Cream Color Base in Pearl! And I still do. It is stunning and looks so great on a myriad of skin tones.
Michi Contreras do you think there is any highlighter that is better? Pearl and hush are the only highlighters I've ever bought and I've never felt the need to try anything else, so not sure if I'm missing out on something better? I absolutely love them so not sure how you could top them tbh!
hannah poultney they’re so good! Some other high contenders would be the Glossier highlighter stick, and Becca and Jouer highlighters! I find they all give me the ‘wet’ look!
MAC CCB in hush was my first ever highlight back in 2010! I thought it was so chic and beautiful, though it was probably MUCH too dark for me 😂 they still totally stand the rest of time though.
Your videos are getting better and better! You have such a fabulous personality. So many fun, quirky things come out of your mouth. I love it!! Thank you for being on the internet!
HAHAHA that Dragon Ball Clip! You should try the Zoeva Strobe Gels, they give you a wet look and have a funny jelly consistency that you can build up too :)
Lumi glotion is so underrated . It has a beautiful, transparent gloss in cream. I don’t understand why is not in the top of glossy products around RUclips
Karima! I loved the way you categorised these highlighters! Super helpful :) I'd love to see more videos of similar format! Thank you - keep staying amazing xx
Ohh man!!! I love vid , ive been obsessed with glossy looks lips, lids, skin. My favorites that you might want to check out are Becca, Glossier, and Pat Mcgrath
AMAZING review video!! I love how well you describe things and don’t just say “omg I laaaaave this it’s so prettyyyy” the whole time! Very useful and helpful. I know it’s not easy to be so concise and articulate for each and every individual product!
I am quite fair, I don't own any Mac products/definitely don't speak Mac lingo but according to Temptalia I'm a N18, and I wear the Marc Jacobs Glow Stick all the time so in my experience it works well on fair skin! I would also recommend the limited edition Lancôme x Olympa Le-Tan Cushion Highlighter if you can get your hands on it - I had to order mine on E-bay (from a trusted seller of course) but it is absolutely stunning. I also really like the Milk Makeup Highlighter (stick) in Lit, the normal/standard shade. I have dry skin so I love balmy, creamy highlights and the Milk one is very balmy and smells a little coconut-y. If I don't blend it out enough the undertone can peak through on my skin tone but as long as I don't pile it on too much and blend it out it looks gorgeous. The Marc Jacobs Glow Stick is probably my favorite highlighter out of my whole collection though 😍
One drugstore "wet look" highlight that is a great buy and surprisingly good is Burts Bees All Aglow highlighter!!! I bought their cream blush one day and absolutely loved it... Well, fast forward a few months and I was looking for another color and ran across this tube highlighter... OMG!!! AH-mazing!!! Ought to give it a glow go😂🤣
I LOVE GLOSSY HIGHLIGHTERS! I have my eye on flexitarian though I'm not sure if it'll work on my skintone. Have you seen Mariah Leonard's videos on glossy highlighters?
Pat And Books I wouldn’t recommend colourpop highlighters. Especially flexitirian bc I got it and it was EXTREMELY shimmery. The shimmer got everywhere and it wasn’t just white shimmer, it was pink and green shimmer 💀
@@goldiel2435 I understand what you're saying. Did you try going with a little product using a fluffy highlighter brush like the RealTechnics setting brush for example?
really intrigued by glossy highlighters right now, and i stumbled on this vid after watching mariah leonard's more recent video on them. love these suggestions, i especially want to try out that charlotte tilbury one!!
Thank you for this! I love a glossy highlight disputed having oily skin. And you’ve reminded me that I used to LOVE Mac’s cream color base in Pearl. Going to have to go out and purchase it today!
I just love your scientific approach to discussing and explaining makeup! It really speaks to me and makes it so easy to follow and understand which highlighter would be a good try for me. Thank you for being awesome! /Love from a super pale Swede
I thought I was done with highlighters until I saw the Givenchy on your shoulders. Sooo good!!! Also, what about the Becca liquid luminizer in pearl? So good for that wet look. I prefer it to the Stila Heaven's Hue as it's sheer, wet looking, no frost, and lasts longer.
What a fun video! I love the pearly Armani Fluid Sheers mixed into my coconut oil moisturizer, I like Le Blanc de Chanel, and I have been using the silvery RMS for years.
Just found your channel and subscribed- you’re hysterical and I love this video! Glossy highlights are my favorite and you did such a great review while still mixing in some humor (shoulder shimmy “what am I doing?”) I love how personable you are on camera.
The cream colour base in pearl was my very first highlighter, no doubt thanks to many OG RUclipsr recommendations - loved it! My favourites now are the Hourglass vanish highlight and Dior’s powder illuminator, neither of which emphasize texture on my skin.
My all-time favorite glossy highlighter is Rouge Bunny Rouge's Sea of Clouds or Sea of Tranquility. I apply it under my foundation, and the highlighter stays on all day. Truly gorgeous. RMS and Kevyn Aucoin are my favorite over-the-foundation highlighters.
Oh dear. This is one of my favorite topics too, Karima!! I was watching Lisa Eldridge in 2010 when she talked about Becca and I have been collecting since then. As a highlighter addict this video is dangerous for me to watch. Somehow it has turned into a Pokémon situation, I can’t sleep at night unless I have collected them all. And yet I don’t have most of the ones on your list! HOW?!!!! 😂
I have loved you for years, but seeing you throw some DBZ in your makeup video just made me fall in love with you all over again, even more so than before.
I love that you are obsessive and systematic and that there is always a method to the madness. Helps a newb like me out quite a bit :) I think I’m going to have to finally commit to the Charlotte Tilbury beauty light wand.. or the Marc Jacobs Spotlight.. oyy I want them all!!
This video is so helpful. At 30, I’ve started to avoid powder highlighter and go with the gloss instead. Will have to add the Marc Jacobs stick to my Sephora list!
Ahh I have a few of these myself. I also think Ofra highlighters are very glossy. On first application it looks metallic, but the more you buff it out, the "wetter" it looks!
I love, love, LOVE the Charlotte Tilbury one and I’ve recently bought the CT primer/complexion booster thingy and it is so beautiful and has a very soft glossy effect. I also love the Tata Harper little pot highlighter, it’s a 1 on the glossy scale but it’s so beautiful!
This was amazingly helpful :) OMG I had no idea how different these were and I'm totally freaked out by looking like I landed in a vat of glitter when it comes to highlight. This gave me some awesome options :) xxx
I LOVED this video! so informative, the way you described them is spot on.Also very true to colour.Hush is one of my all time favorites. Could you do a video featuring your favorite sheer lipsticks🤗
Karima you should try Becca's Shimmering Skin Perfector omg it's too pretty and elegant! And pls do more tutorials featuring your glossy cheeks and eyelids ;)
The Tom ford shade and illuminate has one the most beautiful highlights from what I've heard. I'd love it if you could try it and give your thoughts on it as well. Also the farsali jelly highlighter looks really beautiful and fun.
i had a lot of fun watching the video. i don't like the ashy kind of highlights, that's why i wanted to find the right one for me, and i thought: i wish i can do it like Karima, her highlight is gorgeous. fortunately, you made a video about highlights.
Charlotte Tilbury Light Wand is the best! Whenever I've powdered too much, I will just add that highlight on my cheekbones and somehow, it just makes my face look fresh and dewy again.
I'd love to see you try the Zoeva strobe gels - they seem to be a really glossy, naturally highlight and a nice formula, but I've been reluctant to buy it until I see more reviews
Karima, you & Mariah Leonard are my Glossy Gurus (she has 2 videos on the topic, as well). Editorial glossiness is by FAR my favorite skin look & products like these put me in an "I want ALL the highlighters" daze. I also loved the format of this video, it reminded my of your Shameless Fripperies "product smackdown" series. Please do other versions of this- perhaps your favorite satin or cream highlighters?
When I saw "glossy highlight" I expected Karima's longest video to date! Way to go at staying restrained and concise. Although if we ever have a day together I'd love your unedited thoughts!
You can just Ramble On anytime you like my dear I'll listen. Love the video I don't own any of those glossy highlights but I do believe I will be hunting them down! Thank you for the up and shiny, appreciate it xx
I love glossy highlights! I err toward the eco-beauty variety, I can recommend La Bella Figura Brazilian Denise (out of stock currently I think) and Tata Harper Very Illuminating as well. Oh and the Modern Minerals Moonstone is an eco-beauty classic as well.
Ngl I was so happy to see a product I already love and adore at number one, now I don’t have to go out and buy something new for that glossy look. Love this vid!
I think you've hit upon what my frustration has been. I have powder/cream/liquid/stick/etc. highlighters from everyone from Nyx to Kevin Aucoin and have never found any of them to be quite what I'm looking for. I even found myself a bit frustrated with the Hourglass metallic strobe palette because on the Internet People it looks shiny, but on me it still manages to look more sparkly than glowy. During the day I want to look youthfully illuminated, not shimmery (party nights are of course another story, when I revel in kitschy, glittery glory--bring on Eurovision!). But yes; clearly the adjective I was looking for was "glossy"! Thanks for the recommendations! Perhaps (in the long run) you'll have saved me some money. :)
You’re so cute, Karima! When you swatched that colourpop on your neck and started laughing at yourself, I was cracking up! Love this video, as I definitely prefer a glossy vs shimmery highlight. Thanks for the awesome video!!
OH YES! You and Mariah Leonard have helped so much//given me liiiiife with these glossy highlight videos!!! Perfect!! This was the video I didn't know I needed, but am *SO GRATEFUL* now that it is here!!! (//Can I just say, I *so* appreciate your slightly obsessive tendencies when it comes to rating shine factor! :P SO HELPFUL! SO GOOD! :D :D )
Why does no one apart from you and pixiwoo ever talk about mac's cream colour bases?! Hush and pearl are the only highlighters I ever use, they're actually the only ones I've ever used in my life! Got them years ago and have never felt the need to even try anything else haha, don't know why they don't get more love. Am I missing out on something even better?🤔
Karimaaaa i have been waiting for a beauty guru to make this videoooooo. Thank you !!! I recently got the hourglass strobe blush as a highlighter and was dissapointed to find it frosty and not wearable in day time. This vidéo comes in handy cause i have 25% off at sephora at thr moment. Love you girl 😍
I love MAC Cream Color Base in Pearl or Hush, they are buildable and not sticky! And for a softer but durable effect they are a perfect base for Becca highlighters in powders!
Karima have you tried the Kevyn Aucoin Candlelight cream version? If not I think you'd like it, very understated and easy to work with! they really nailed the formula, it's not cream to powder but it's not oily/balmy either.
Ugh, gurl, YES. Since I saw a glossy skinned model photo in like 2006 I HAVE BEEN ON THIS HUNT. Glossy highlighters that don't disturb the rest of my makeup are like my Moby Dick.
Your videos are getting better and better... I think I prefer the c. Tilburry one. By the way, your make up really enhances your beautiful face. Love it
Great video! I love how you did the shine factor thing, I do something similar - just for myself - when I try out a new foundation because my skin is very oily. 1: Matte, 2: Glowy, 3: Glistening, 4: Shine City hahaha
Love your recommendations, they are always spot on and well described. There’s another youtuber who tries to explain wet glossy highlighters and I don’t get what she’s saying! Could you do a video on must have eye shadow palettes?
I just found your channel recently and your voice and the way you speak is so wonderful and very "lady" like. Also your videos are super informative and fun to watch :)
i’ve been loving the physicians formula butter highlighters. when i got them i didn’t expect much and now i’ve been using them everyday. they are very similar in texture to the colourpop highlighters.
I was gonna go to sleep, but then Karima uploaded. I was gonna be financially stable, but then Karima uploaded.
Cady Whicker I was gonna say the exact same thing
The perfect comment!
I are sorry! 😂
So true!!
I think karima’s one of the most underrated beauty youtuber! And sometimes I wonder if people stop watching because they have spent too much because of her 😂
Two more amazing glossy highlights to try: Clinique Chubby Stick Highlight and Elf Targeted Natural Glow Stick (clear). 😊
YES! When I started doing makeup, I SWORE by MAC Cream Color Base in Pearl! And I still do. It is stunning and looks so great on a myriad of skin tones.

please attempt glass skin
Your videos are getting better and better! You have such a fabulous personality. So many fun, quirky things come out of your mouth. I love it!! Thank you for being on the internet!
For the colourpop ones better colors for medium light to tan skin tones are Churro, Wisp, Glazed, Butterfly beach
The new hourglass highlight sticks are worth checking out! The shade gold flash is absolutely gorgeous
HAHAHA that Dragon Ball Clip! You should try the Zoeva Strobe Gels, they give you a wet look and have a funny jelly consistency that you can build up too :)
I actually have the Zoeva in my collection but I recall them getting a bit streaky/patchy? Will revisit! xx
Announcement everyone: “apple of the shoulder” is now an official term. We should all start using it immediately.
New anatomy term, everyone!
Lumi glotion is so underrated . It has a beautiful, transparent gloss in cream. I don’t understand why is not in the top of glossy products around RUclips

Karima, have you tried the becca liquid highlighters? They are a glossy heaven!
Ana Luchesi yes they are but they hv tiny shimmers in it which arr visible on the cheeks 😞
If you have access to the German brand „alverde“ (it’s a natural one) they have a creme highlighter in a small pot that is just divine!!
Tammy jaa, das stimmt! 👐🏻

does the mac one has any shimmers or sparkles in it?
Karima, this video is so fun - both in the topic and the delivery. I love your love for memes; it rivals my love for you.
Yay :) I was waiting for this video since your powder highlights break down. Not disappointed. Love it and love you :) You are awesome .

Ca Ro which one is more intense colourpop or PF
Hasnain Abdul Subhan colourpop much better. after using them for a while, i like CP much better
