We owe our patients more than they are getting. Vetmed is too costly and the outcomes prove it

My cat is suffering maybe dying under my bed right now as I am praying he can make it until Monday due to the high cost of the only emergency vet in our area that charges outragious fees. Hope he makes it. I think he may have some kind of digestive blockage. I been crying all weekend praying he can make it to Monday.😢

it just recently cost $2,000 for vet services for my cat which would have cost many hundreds less if my regular vet had been available on a weekend. i was forced to take him to an emergency vet.
on a follow up visit to the regular vet i asked why they were no longer offering weekend hours. she said the practice had plenty of vets but could not offer more hours because they didn't have enough staff - mostly becuase. the pay was too low.
well, someone is making money. vet services have become prohibitively high, regardless of time.
my repsonse was, so pay the staff more! there are no weekend or off-hours vet services in this region, apparently because of this. in the past week i've talked to many friends who have pets and their experiences are the same. (more...)

Our gov waste and even some of us our own personal frivolous waste in funds at the cost of doing whats right. I feel the going home to die as it's happened with two of mine only I was not told that one was just a patient being discharged the other was just a check up to pursue treatment that was waning but I felt helped to do so again. I will change I will learn from my failures and my Vets failures I feel like the $5000 range happens to fast and to easy I know you make a difference and each and every life matters that is someones family or reason for getting out of bed even. Stay strong keep fighting this battle

i'm also seeing a huge increase in advertising for pet insurance lately. my guess is that insurance companies have finally discovered this wide open niche of potential profits.
and this is a good idea? the private insurance industry has worked out so well for people so far? yes, that is sarcasm.

I am with ya! I worked at animal ER as a tech for 3 years. I had to leave. It was turning me into someone I didn't want to be.

what does the bill most often end up being when you deal with a blacked male cat?

I just took my male cat to ER yesterday, I had to come up with $2400. deposit to start. I lot of testing, is what really drives up the cost, we already know he has issues with crystals. That was Annapolis MD. Praying they don't go over that, just hanging on to get thru the winter.

@@suebaker4661 ive had two males clog up each twice. I dont remember the bill on all 4 times, but the last one was $750.00 and i paid after i got him home. I had him at home for a couple weeks with a tube in his wee wee thing and he dripped all over, and i kept giving him fluid under the hide and back flushed the tube a little and CD food. So yeah, you might say i did the second half of the stuff at home which i am sure lowered the bill. Vets are criminals
