I realize this was for years ago, but I still would like to express my condolences. Love your channel.
I recently started viewing your videos because I have a pet pitbull mix a true sweetheart that was a stray. Anyway she is 17 years old and I have lots of work to make sure she's comfortable. She has cataracts and arthritis issues. I love her and do all I can to make my Kelsie safe and comfortable. I had to put to sleep my chow chow in 2014 it broke my heart but nothing could be done because of seizures. So sorry for your loss of Lewis. Thank you for sharing God bless.

Being an animal empath I suffer everytime I see stray animals, roadkill, or suffering animals. I have rescued many animals over the years and still feed strays around where I live and where I work. I have lost many of these animals through death and loss and still do not know how my body and mind can take it; but i push forward and continue.
Andrew, all of these animals are no longer suffering the incarnate life and they are in heaven waiting for us to reunite with him. Lewis was blessed to have partnered with you in this life.

Animal empath here too.Thank you for all you do for the animals. I also feed many colonies and rescue hospice feral cats, unwanted big dogs. I feel your pain. I don't know how I go on either with all the heartbreak dealing with strays, animal abuse, etc-you gave me a moment of peace and love knowing there are others out there who genuinely love and are helping animals from their heart.

I couldn't stop crying either, omg soo emotional right now. We've been through this with our believed male cats. I also have a female shih-tzu who lives in the house with me & turns 11 today Jan. 4th. I just don't know what I'm going to do when her time comes because I brought her home at 6wks. I just feel like I'd literally stop breathing! Prayers to all fur baby parents

Thank you for sharing your experience and the memories of the wonderful life Lewis had. He was lucky to come in to your family, you were all worthy of his love and devotion. I had to put down my first dog Pearl, she was 17 and...it felt like my heart was being ripped out...but i was holding her, we were at my home and i was looking her in the eyes telling her how much i loved her. I love that you were ALL there for him and he was surrounded by love in his final moments. Its never easy to say goodbye to someone you love...but what a wonderful way to leave this world. I was leaking tears through your whole video...thank you for loving him so very much...we can all connect deeply with those feelings. Goodbye sweet Lewis, I am happy you had such a loving family see you through to the end

God bless. I have been watching your channel to help deal with a cancer in my dog Moose. So sad to lose our best friends, but when we remember back at all the gifts they give us - it’s hard to feel anything but gratitude. My heart goes on for you. I've recently lost my Great Dane to cancer too and she had to be euthanized. It was the single most difficult decision we ever had to make, and even now it still hurts. We miss her terribly. You guys be strong... she will live forever in your hearts and you will see her again in heaven. May the Force be with you. 🌼🌼🌼

I'm sorry for your loss, Lewis was an awesome dog and you gave him the best opportunity to have the great life he had. I'm still mourning my Bernstein Bear (RIP 11/16/17) so I wish I could tell you that you'll have healed in a couple of months but I haven't reason to believe it so I'll just wish you lots of strength and that you are able to hold on to memories of him and recall them often, making you smile every time.

Dr. Jones I am so sorry for your loss, what a heartbreaking video. (I can only download 10.09 mins of it but it appears to be 30.09mins long?).
The footage that you include is such testament to how animals can be such a part of lives as precious as a human relative. And then to see them growing and sharing milestones with your family as you and your family grow just demonstrates this.
I know because I have shared the years and ups and downs with my cats. They ahve the same loyal soul as a dog and know when I'm happy and sad.
Animals also ground us and make us realise the simple pleasures in life of just a cuddle and quiet time.

This represented the dogs in my life. The first part was bright, and sunny, and fun, and loving. But after they were gone from our lives it was very dark, seemed to take forever for time to pass, and all too quiet.

I am heartbroken to hear of his passing.

I am a Catholic yet I believe that is God could allow me the ability to love my petscas family and gave me a gift to work with them and now to have them be my heroes as I neededca Service dog.. I fully expect to be reunited with them all when I am called home. And I know they will be the first to welcome me home because they are the ones that have run into my arms almost everyday of my life.

You really hit home Dr Jones that just because you are a Vet, your feelings are as deep as ours are with our own pets, and losing a dog is as painful for you as us. I came across this video today and I just started bawling. I lost my dog Charlie in May. He was 18 yrs old but disabled and began to deteriorate. We gave him all the love we could offer and took care of him and held him up to his last breath. I know it's been 3 yrs but I'm so sorry for your loss. We are down to 8 rescues and the thought of losing every one of them is heartbreaking for us. We at least hope to be here for all their days. Not a moment in the day passes that we don't miss every single one of our babies.

Lewis reminds me of my black lab, Tornado. She passed away almost six years ago and it was the most heartbreaking thing I've ever experienced. But she has such a gentle personality and was so loving. I was blessed to have her for ten of her twelve years. I hope that by now you have come to a point where when you remember Lewis you are brought more joy than sorrow. Dr Jones. I am so sorry to hear about Lewis' passing. I am glad that you and your family could be there with him and that you were able to make the decision when the time was right. I can't imagine the pain you are suffering because although I know we all knew him through you videos as loved him from afar and are devastated by his loss it does not amount to what you are going through. Thank you for loving Lewis so well and giving him a happy wonderful and long life with a great quality. Thank you for loving him in the end and seeing him over the rainbow bridge in such a wonderful manner. We will all miss Lewis. I hope, in time, you memories of time with Lewis will lead you to giving a great life to another dog who I am sure will be one that needs a good loving family like yours. Even though this video was 5 yrs ago, I want to say how sorry I am for your loss. I've been introduced to your videos and Louis has been a large part. He will live on forever through them. I understand what you and your family went through, and I wish you the best. This heartfelt video made me cry and reminisce about all of my own beloved friends.
My heart hurts much in the loss of Lewis. I only knew him a short time on video, but grew to love him. Lewis loved unconditionally, very patient, kind, and the list goes on. If only people could exhibit these character traits.
I know it must be so difficult for you and the family. That void can never be replaced.
We have lost two dogs recently and a third is blind and old. We love our animals so much, but they shower us with love and blessings beyond measure. My prayers are with you and the family during this time of loss. 😢

Where to Bury A Dog?

Beneath a cherry tree, where, in its proper season
The cherry strews petals on the green lawn of his grave,
Or beneath any flowering shrub.
Beneath such a tree or shrub he slept, or lifted his head to challenge some intruder.
These are good places, in life or in death.
Yet it is a small matter,
For if the dog be well-remembered,
If sometimes he leaps through your dreams, actual as in life,
Eyes kindling, laughing, begging,
It matters not at all where that dog sleeps.
On a hill where the wind blows, the trees roaring,
Or beside a stream he knew in puppy hood,
Or in the flatness of a pasture lane where cattle grazed,
Is all one to the dog,
And all one to you.
Nothing is gained and nothing is lost if memory lives.
But… there is a place to bury a dog.
If you bury him in this spot he will come to you when you call;
Come to you over the grim, dim frontiers of death,

Another dog will not resent his coming, for he belongs there.
People may scoff at you who see no slightest blade of grass bent by his footfall,
Who hear no whimper;
People who never really loved a dog.

The one best place to bury a dog is in the heart of his master.

I feel your pain Dr. Jones. My eight year old Pomeranian Chooch was suffering from end stage kidney failure and his pain was too great. I held him in my lap while the sedative and lethal injection were administered. His passing was over gentle and without trauma. He had been with me from the day he was born. Hardest thing I have ever had to do, but the most humane. This was yesterday. The silence in my house today is deafening. RIP Chooch. I will miss you and love you forever. God Bless you Dr. Jones.
