Thank u for saying that vomiting is not normal. In vet school an instructor (a vet cardiologist, apparently!) told us that vomiting WAS normal and to just ignore it. I spoke up to ask whether a vomiting cat might have some problem so that should be investigated. The SILENCE in the class was deafening. I went on to pass all courses and rotations, plus licensing exam. Yet in my 4th year this same cardiologist participated in a panel whose goal was to kick me out after another instructor changed my grade in a rotation from a pass to a fail, without any explanation or evidence. The situation got so messy and was based in hearsay, false claims against me and the school’s refusal to communicate with me to resolve the problem. They kicked me out of the program and I went further into debt going the legal route to try and get the degree that I had earned. I am still struggling to try and recover from the extreme negative effects on my mental health and my life.
I believe that speaking up to ask a question all those years ago, made this cardiologist seek revenge against me…I had questioned his ‘expertise’. Message is: vets are arrogant and insecure. Never question them or they will retaliate against you.

thank you for this video! I was so concerned my kitty was making hair balls every couple days, i gave her some high fiber treats to help her pass it instead of coughing it up on my bed and that worked. Thank you for describing how a hairball should look too! I'm a new cat owner and I couldn't tell if its a normal hairball, poop, or vomit/something I should worry about. I feel more reassured now with my cats :)

Lately ive been finding large cat vomits and it looks like 💩, but with the hairballs comes with this liquid. Is that normal to come out with liquid?

This is so helpful! I always worry if I'm misinterpreting my cat's...gifts...because his hairballs are always so small.

A cat vomiting hairballs most certainly is normal.

When we adopted a rescue kitten and she ended up being diagnosed with IBD, I was shocked, because I have Crohn's and had no idea IBD also existed in cats. Over the past 13 years, we have taken care of each other through the ups and downs of our shared disease. 💜
It's fascinating (and sad) that cat IBD can also turn cancerous. Dysplasia is why I ended up needing a colectomy/ileostomy, though obviously in humans it isn't lymphoma caused by IBD, but rather CRC. I'll be sure to keep an eye out for signs in her, and of course aim to keep her inflammation under control. I imagine ostomies are not done in the animal world!
In humans, there are tests for inflammation like fecal calprotectin or CRP...is something like that available to monitor cats as well? Or is it more about keeping an eye on symptoms?
Anyway this video was super fascinating, and I'm very late to comment, but thank you so much for posting it.
