It seems obvious that the Wasp’s costume should be yellow and black, but they had Hank steal the concept of a wasp based superhero from Janet, so the red in this costume helps to distinguish her visually from Yellowjacket. It does give her the same color scheme as Iron Man though.
I was going to comment about this being one of my favorite costumes for Wasp, and then you said it in the video. I think I prefer the blue / yellow version slightly more, but this red version looks great too.
Actually, he first appeared in Giant-Size Spider-Man #1 but I mentioned it and the game he was a really hard boss battle in in the first part of the story. When you consider some of the naff characters that make-up the usual fodder for "background villains" in modern comics (Bloodshed, Shatterfist, Bison), it's inexcusable that Equinox isn't one of them.
This is my second favorite Wasp costume behind the one from the Buscema/Stern run. Which is basically the same outfit only changing the red to black/blue. You can tinker with the under color but I like the yellow and the overall design with the collar.
Wasp changed her costume compulsively, but she never changed her freakin' ugly hairdo. It looks like the lead singer for Phantogram (check out the vid for Fall In Love. Excellent song and vid, btw). Claremont is like Stephen King: racially pandering (but not obnoxiously so), cliched (but in a "comfortable," readable way), lightweight (but with a veneer of heavy-seeming drama, the old storm und drang). He's a "burger and fries" writer. When I was in grade school, "burger" was a slang word for "twat." "Fries," however, meant nothing.
You really hate Wasp, the poor girl. Hasn't she suffered enough already at the hands of men?? You'd love the Bendis run. She gets a haircut and then dies for no reason.
I remember this being one of my favourite pairs of issues when I read it at the time it came out. Like you thought Equinox was a strong villain. Unlike you I enjoyed the art! With hindsight I see what you mean about Claremont but I did enjoy his work in the moment. Good issues
It doesn't hurt that this comes after years of Marvel Team-Up lacking much quality or consistency. Done-in-one stories with never-before seen villains and shaggy dog stories about Salem Witch Trials. A two-parter which tries to build up the co-star and even build on a past villain and make him maybe seem like more than a disposable Marvel Team-Up villain... it's a breathe of fresh air on top of being good on it's own.
Equinox is definitely worthy of being a regular and decent villain of the Marvel universe. What a waste. But then again, only having one real appearance and it being decent is a good way to remember him, vs years of abuse by horrible writers that would inevitably happen under people like Gillis, Englehart, Ellis, Busiek et al.
Part 1 talks more about Equinox's history (he does have another appearance and he was a big boss in a game). It was the first one to feature the CRT looking screencaps that I bugged you for help with for an afternoon - ruclips.net/video/SW-H2S3gsuw/видео.html
Speaking of Gillis, I don't know why, but my last video on him (which was funnily enough only the day before Part 1 of this) has been getting a LOT of views - it's averaging out to 100 views a day. I feel bad, he only died 2 months ago.
@@SonofCapwolf Well, its only normal for people to have their interest peaked in a creator upon news of their death. I wouldn't worry. It's not like you were consciously trying to cash in, like people on eBay do with autographs suddenly marking up their prices when a celeb dies.
Would people seriously not know the the difference between her and Hank is their costumes were the same colors? she would be the one with a black eye from him smack'n her around.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

I think if you make the red a bit browner shaded, it could work (or just have Iron Man in Silver and Red).

I meant to send you those pages (one of which is featured in this) of the 2000s Handbooks where they show every single Wasp costume...
Hey, Equinox first appeared in MTU 23! Is this a test or sumpin'? Gil Kane art, but not his best. Human Torch and Iceman, no Spider.

She is outright wearing this at least the cover of Avengers #264. I think inside it was white and red.
I’m sad we never got to see Brad Meltzer write Equinox. I wonder who he would have rapped?
I reckon his mam.
We deserved an epic Equinox-Mercurio fight. Hotter than hot🔥Colder than cold❄Twice the two-fisted temperature terror!
Maybe throw in Thermo from Marvel Team-Up, Thermal Man from Thor and Thermite from Squadron Supreme.

"Fur burger"

Or like the time my dad got Ant and Dec's autograph(s?) in a casino and then tried to sell it to other people right in front of them.

I think she'd be the one giving him the bruises these days.
