    I`m 70 years old and have seen Jerry Mathers on air many a times. This is the first time I`ve seen Jerry real open up fully and I discovered Jerry is a very bright, well grounded and pragmatic man. Also Jerry has a very lovely wife that brings out the best in him.

    Great interview Dee.
    About the Hugh Beaumont intro, that stopped about 18 episodes into season one, if not earlier. But those were good intros. Sometimes when they showed clips as he did the introduction, those scenes are never seen in the show itself, watch "Next Door Indians," and there's a cast member in the intro, but not seen in the show itself. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough room in my new Leave it to Beaver book, "The World Famous Beaverpedia," to discuss these intros. Thanks for bringing them up in this interview.

    Great interview. Way beyond the usual. Very enjoyable. I’m amazed though that no one talked about one of the most important elements of making the show so successful: the directors. Getting those great performances from those kids and the rest of the cast took an amazing director. Norman Tokar was the first one and did lots of the early shows before other directors came on. They always had great directors and it had a lot to do with the success of the show.

    Thoroughly enjoyed! But couldn't help but thinking or feeling, Roy Rogers a childhood hero was interviewing the Beave! I really felt at home! Dee bears a strong resemblance to Roy and like Dee says, the Tennessee accent does go pretty past mid-state Ohio, where Roy's from. Maybe not as rich that far north. So Dee sounds like Roy Rogers too. I know, from Detroit driving south, in about two hours, even though your still Mid-West, but definitely the Tennessee Kentuck, brand southern drawl is taking over. What can I say. I'm proud to be an American, where at least I know I'm free. These two Americans remind me of that. Beave's wife was star struck too. She knew this discussion was out of this world, I mean literally. They're were angels unawares. To us mortals, but somehow I saw through to it. Maybe it was falling asleep and waking up during. Like I was there the whole time. In the room there with friends. Just loved the experience. The only thing missing was Trigger! Sorry couldn't help that! LOL! Thanks folks🗽

      @@barbarabaldwin7120Thank you. The injecting of their religious beliefs IS totally unrelated to anything in the interview, and sets up an artificial barrier to anyone who enjoyed "Beaver" who is, say, of the Jewish faith, or any non-Christian faith, or non-religious, etc.
      The original TV program never pushed a particular religion, neither does this interview/discussion. The ostracizing comments of the poster are totally inappropriate here

      @Mozart2Muse Год назад +1

      @@northdakotaful He did mention that he felt God was watching over him, which, while that may not make him a saved believer, he is also clearly not an atheist. He may simply believe that God is not sovereign in every aspect of life. He is not without hope yet.

      @Mozart2Muse Год назад +2

      @@chrisfreeman9960 The interviewer did ask the question about God to Jerry,; and while LITB never "pushed" a particular religion per se, church, Sunday school, etc. was often mentioned on the show. And of course, as Jerry mentioned multiple times, Hugh Beaumont was a Methodist minister. So, the commenters here certainly have a right to point out what they noticed in the faith portion of this interview.
