    Great video, super helpful. I'm thinking about buying my first electric guitar but I don't want to buy an amp just yet because I'd like to first do some playing so that then I have a better idea about what to look for on an amp. This is very useful. I think I'll definitely go for the irig2. Thanks!

      @@dimebag0474 the amp output is only a Mono signal, so it will only go out left if you are using a TRRS (stereo) cable. You'd have to use a single TRS to mono splitter to send the mono signal to both speakers. It wont be a true stereo image still, but you'll get sound out of both

      Hey thx for watching!, Latency is usually caused by the phones audio chip. depending on which phone you have (Samsung, LG, HTC, etc) the latency may be more.
      Ive found that a Samsung Galaxy or newer, or a BlackBerry (yes a blackberry) androind phone is pretty good, but LG and Huawei devices are really bad for latency.

  • @badnationmusic

    I tried using iRig2 with my Android phone and as soon as I plug my guitar in I get nothing but a screaching feedback that goes on until I close the app. I am using headphones to monitor so it shouldn't be feedback from them. Also, as another comment stated my phone and many other Android devices have too much latency to be useful as any kind of serious practice or recording device while using the Deplike app. Also, Only the basic configuration of noise gate, basic amp, delay pedal (which exasperates the screechy feedback unless the mix on the pedal is turned all the way down and renders the pedal useless) Orange sim can and looper are free. You have to pay for any other configuration. Overall so far I'm not a fan of deplike. Are there any workable Android alternatives out there?

    • @WhiteRaven___
      @WhiteRaven___ 2 года назад +1

      Your input volume is probably way too high( too much gain). Especially in deplike these settings are in the bottom right of the screen. The galaxy and Google pixel series are also great for low latency

      On an Android device, live use would be very tricky. Its a fact that Android devices have bigger latency and there's only so much you can do about it.

    Does IRig 2 have a latency issue on Android while using headphones for monitoring?

    • @DarkRoastRecording
      @DarkRoastRecording  3 года назад +1

      Thanks for watching! The latency comes from the processed signal, so if you set the irig to “thru” , you will be hearing no latency, but it is very hard to record anything that way with a metronome because you will be ahead of the beat. Android has latency more than iOS devices, but side android phones have way better latency than others, and so it’s not too big a deal depending on your device. Plus, it you use A USB interface with Deplike, it can get rid of any latency.

      The Irig 2 vendor only developped an iOS app with AmpliTube so they pretend it's only compatible with iOS because they want to sell their app. Other apps showed in this video are 3rd parties apps and they work well with Android. Be careful though, the new Irig HD 2 with USB connexion is not compatible with Android at this point. It's a shame it's impossible to use Irig 2 or Irig HD with new smartphone without audio jack like Galaxy S21.

    Hi, I am trying to use the iRig 2 to practice when away from my Amp, with headphones. The problem is that as soon as I put any gain on any setup, the feedback takes over the sound (at that point I can even unplug the guitar and the feedback continues forever). I tested in multiple android devices and with tonebridge and bandlab, with the same results... Does anyone have a solution for this?

I have hear that they irigs newer versions are meant to have less latency with Android devices and the original was designed for iPhones. @@nexion2406 I finally got it to work but its latency is still a real nuisance. I'm using a Moto by Cricket. The problem was a brand new cable extension for the headphone because the unit (iRig) the cable that goes to the headphone is so short that its very difficult to keep control and fumbles and you get all kinds of cracks and pops, its connection length is way to short! So, I put an extension for the headphones length and I unplugged that and connected my guitar cable directly and it worked. Latency was still there. I'm not going to buy a new phone or tablet. I have almost every plug in from Amplitube on my MacPro and use it with Logic and love it but the cell phone is crap unless one wants to spend stupidly 500+ on a cell phone.
