I'm very curious to down the road after the NDAs expire for them to tell us what was going on during this time and the lack of content and updates. Game development is very interesting because there are SOLO devs who are pumping out more content than this entire studio combined.
@JustinMartinez-ub9gt get my bread up? lol Im raising a 4 kid and wife family, 3 vehicles and a home. I would bet my mandatory bills just to live cost more than you make in 3 months lol.. sXL needs to be modded to come even sorta close to what can be done on Session in the vanilla settings tab lol stand alone, Session is the bast hands down.
It feels like they’re throwing in the towel for core development of the game so they can maximize profits from DLC maps before Skate 4s release… I get they can’t really compete with the popularity of Skate, but this game definitely had the potential to fill that realistic skating experience that a lot of arcade skate games fail to capture 😔
You know I do think there's room for a game to compete with the coming Skate cus that's going to be a "live service" that's inevitably going to start wandering away from the sim aspect to appeal to casuals who want to do tricks off skyscrapers.
Honestly, even if Session remains like this, I believe it's still much better than Skate will be imo. This is only true of course if you are actually into skating realistically in these games, which I'm sure is the case for the vast majority that play Session. From what I have seen so far (and I am aware it's not yet version 1.0), Skate is super floaty (likely won't be able to adjust gravity), will only be able to use their "flick-it" control system, likely won't have the option for manual catch, and just all around it looks much less realistic than Session. I will no doubt give Skate a try when it releases, but I am not getting my hopes up and can't see myself enjoying it more than Session as I like to play realistically. I don't know if I will be able to go back to using one stick for tricks, or be able to deal with how floaty it is.
lol biggest joke here, skate even being arcadey is still going to be 10x better. animations look clean and ton of features i bet and customization that will make a better experience playing.
@@lnfskate6083 so you are fine with how floaty it is and using single stick instead of dual for tricks? Unless they are going to have options to adjust these things, but I haven’t heard anything yet.
@@Ryanc33 that doesnt bother me too much, i just want the game to actual LOOK good and play smooth. Animations is very important in a skate game. Stale dry animations is the reason why i dont play session
"New official maps being added to the game is always a good thing" - no, not always.. there is a time and place for everything, and since the waterpark the time for new DLC been over, and that"s stretching it considering the state of the 1.0 release and consequent updates. What updates you ask? Right, those updates - i think the best one was when they took away one of the free maps because "licensing" (not a "limited time update", they either spun it that way after the fact or it's just something you made up, i don't know and don't claim you made that up)... We'll see if "we can expect some bugfixes and some minor gameplay updates here and there", certainly i am not so sure about that.. I wish i had your faith, i guess. - no roadmap - no ankle glitch fix - no arms clipping fix - no clothing wear - no truck wear - no plans to give players the ability to restart the missions, even though this would probably be an easy one - maybe updates and QoL improvements to historical challenges, but no, probably not (unless it's some Donovan Strain bangers getting added to the game) - a(nother) middle finger to console players - never again proper sized maps (remember the original promise?) - yet another middle finger to console players - no throwdown animations - no NPCs in replay editor - maybe free cosmetics.. if they're bundled with some "limited time update" licensing deal i guess - maybe "limited time updates" come back at a later date for free again.. (is it me or does it smell like rebranding the sewer map, a "limited time update" ft The Drano Max Gel Clog Remover?) ...but you manage to still be sure about us still getting updates and bugfixes. I tip my hat for that.
I used to prefer Session over all the other games but the devs have shown that they are just as clueless as XL. So many cool things promised for Session and now it seems like they don't care at all
Please do more modded map videos! Just chill talking about whatever (like this video) but on some of the newer modded maps of the past month or two. I made one as well and would love to see your thoughts on it!
My skater can’t ride switch. Every time I do a BS revert, I can’t push and I end up ragdolling off my board a few seconds after I revert. Is there any way to fix this, or is this a problem for everyone?
If only the developers would improve the turning dynamic in Session. Lining up for a trick is as hard as the trick itself in some cases - which the opposite of real life skateboarding. The trick mechanics themselves are excellent. This is my experience after about 50 hours of playing Session - and about 20,000 hours of actual skateboarding.
Of course I'd love more updates too, but I bought Session on steam for a massive discount, I paid 11 euros and for that money I'm more than happy with the current game.
lol ive literally played goofy since the very beginning, even doing reverts to get into goofy. never EVER knew the animations were different i just thought the games animations were ass looool
They should use development time to make Session 2 with multiplayer and more fleshed out features from the ground up. They could just add maps to OG Session for income and heck I'd even support early access for a Session 2. It just seems they learned a lot and would benefit a lot from a fresh start. EDIT: Lol literally talked about in the vid... seems like passion is just gone and its on auto pilot to make money. Which is fine I guess.
Honestly the only thing this game has going for it is it's controls. EA Skate has better flowing physics and I will die on that hill, and the Tony Hawk games have an unmatched trick selection. As someone who is fascinated with all three "genres" of skating, I fail to entertain myself for long with just street. I understand vert being hard to implement, but the control scheme has SO much potential for freestyle. At this point I'd honestly rather play reTHAWed on sim mode than this game. No other game has Sal flips, Spacewalks, Pogos, or really anything that's not an average everyday flip, grind, or grab. And Session doesn't even have grabs.
I believe the devs planned to ghost everyone when skate gets close to dropping and doesn’t have the nuts to tell the community. The “updates” and DLC’s we have got have been laughable compared to what they have told us for years…we don’t even have animations yet for fck out loud.
This game feels like shit, I do the exact trick I’m supposed to do for Daewon and it doesn’t count, how many times do I gotta do this before it counts ?
I spent good money on this game hoping it would help elevate the title to something great considering it’s a small studio. Who would have known they would’ve sold out to a bigger studio and start working on something else- essentially abandoning the game I wanted to support
It seems to me that the game went up in flames once the publisher came in. I’d say that it’s dev laziness, but I feel a bit bad doing that because it’s clear there are bits of passion in there. It makes me upset though, because I’ve enjoyed it from what I’ve played thanks to a friend. But this is severely impacting my confidence in purchasing the game for myself. Why would I buy a game with no real future? Especially in the state that it’s in, which I’m sorry is very bare bones. I’m a skate playtester and I’ve enjoyed what I’ve been able to play. And even in pre-alpha it’s a lot more feature rich than this supposed 1.0 release. I’m aware that Skate has a triple A budget compared to Session, but if people move to Skate 4 when it comes out I don’t think you can blame them.
Basically they’re done with the game and the maps they’re planning to create is easy enough work that the money they make from them outweighs the time spent. Once the new Skate releases that probably won’t be the case and the game’s support will die.
For me, a casual PS5 player, I still really like Session. Skater XL is so hard to go back to after playing Session. I know both games are probably better on PC, but I dont play often enough to justify it.
I feel like session thinks they won the skateboarding battle, but they aren’t ready to compete with the likes of EA One word “multiplayer” I wouldn’t be willing to continue to pay for one of DLCs and put that budget to whatever online and community play could be If skate somehow introduces and advanced double flick it controls I wouldn’t have reason to play session at all haha
honestly, i still play the game because my friends do. i'm a vert skater, and it's really disappointing how they market the game as a skate sim, but they don't have every discipline of skateboarding from the get-go. they focused more on getting the game to market when it was clearly unfinished. on TOP of that, creature has already announced that they're working on another project besides session. that's one of the biggest reasons why i don't look forward to anything creature puts out. not to mention, the lack of female character customization. they said that ALL of the prague DLC clothes would be available for the female characters too, and they lied about it.
say it louder! ive been saying this for so long . everyone calls me a hater or saying im a skater xl lover..which actually has more to offer (with mods)
Brother I remember one of the first kickstarter goals met was vert skating, and they were talking about doing the mocap for it (even had a closed off half pipe in the kickstarter map to tease it) and it just never went anywhere
Animation of what of course I play goofy in session how can you play regular if you’re goofy makes no sense if you’re goofy and okay left foot right foot playing regular feels switch
not sure if youre in b rows rad rascal discord but the guy who did xls animations was talking to boogie and told him hes back working "more than full time" and the xl build hes playing is looking WAY better and more real now. said he hasnt seen any of the new caspers from the update that was supposed to come out but what he can do is way better. idk go check it out theres more info
As soon as Skate comes out I cannot wait to switch games, so much promise and such a big let down from 2-4 years ago from Session. This sucks to just always see content about the game talking about how bad it’s becoming
I don't think Session is totally screwed...the playerbase is going to take a hit, as well as there future profit but there will still be players. There won't be too many new players since they can get their skate fix on SKATE. I'll still play session, but it will decline. The goofy update is literally only going to effect half of the playerbase, if that. I don't skate goofy. I have no intent on changing to goofy when the update comes out, so I will never see the benefit of it. Meanwhile, we have multiple tricks that don't work and still not vert! ugh...I can't wait for SKATE.
I've been considering going out to find an old xbox 360 just to play skate 3 and feel proper momentum and flow. I can't wait to never play these "sims" ever again.
I can't see not playing session just because of the replays and shorts. People like the real skate vids more on my channel but if it isn't fun, why do it?
I'd love a consistent opinion from you guys on this game for once. I realize catchy titles bring in the numbers, but still. One week it's 'this game is the top dog', the other week it is this. I realize opinions change, and even if they didn't you somehow have to find a way to make each video significant, but this jumping from one side to the other just makes all of you feel like an unreliable source of information to the audience. No hate intended, but I'm sure you're smart enough to know what I mean.
My opinion has always been “I love this game but I think it needs a lot of work”. I think i’ve been pretty consistent with that across all my videos. Sure my titles jump around from positive to negative, but that’s the natural experience of playing a game, some days you love it and some days you hate it. Personally I think i’ve remained fair but critical about this game regardless if it’s a more “positive” or “negative” video.
No throw downs is pure bullshit. They kept saying it would get fixed when they got an animator. Just seems so scammy with the stuff missing or straight up lying about stuff.
i swear what the hell are they actually doing? i mean its Unreal Engine for gods sake they have assets and textures they reuse, they dont reinvent the wheel every map... a good modeler/unreal dev can pump out a mid sized map like every month. and thats with just a team of like 1 or 2 people. i get that physics might need a lot of time to get to work right, but like actual hard modeled content like maps, objects dropper items, gear and clothes etc. its laughable how little they put out
Ngl i pirate all the dlc's before buying it... You never rly know if it's ACTUALLY worth buying. I only play paid version tho but i do test the pirated one first if there's a new dlc

I'm very curious to down the road after the NDAs expire for them to tell us what was going on during this time and the lack of content and updates. Game development is very interesting because there are SOLO devs who are pumping out more content than this entire studio combined.
Should just set up an auto-reply on the Discord to say “No this isn’t happening”
I love this game. The technicalities are unmatched
There is 0 technicalities get your bread up and get a pc play sxl this game looks genuinely nothing like irl skating😂
🤡@@JustinMartinez-ub9gt
@@JustinMartinez-ub9gt damn man, go back to xl, we play session
@@JustinMartinez-ub9gt i agree skater xl modded is better than session by miles
@JustinMartinez-ub9gt get my bread up? lol Im raising a 4 kid and wife family, 3 vehicles and a home. I would bet my mandatory bills just to live cost more than you make in 3 months lol.. sXL needs to be modded to come even sorta close to what can be done on Session in the vanilla settings tab lol stand alone, Session is the bast hands down.
The whole reason i liked skate in the first place was cause i could play it realistic there is nothing like it on console i love realisom lol
If sessions player count reaches zero, I’m dead fr.
You know I do think there's room for a game to compete with the coming Skate cus that's going to be a "live service" that's inevitably going to start wandering away from the sim aspect to appeal to casuals who want to do tricks off skyscrapers.
nacon fucked up another game/studio.
Crazy Tony has so many skate games he's done that there shouldn't be a issue if he's not working on the computer
@@lnfskate6083 fair enough! Skate will definitely have lots of things that Session is lacking.
would love for them to add solid multiplayer, and just some maps every once in a while.
Hey I'm the guy who asked about the city sizes
- no roadmap
- no ankle glitch fix
- no arms clipping fix
- no clothing wear
- no truck wear
- no plans to give players the ability to restart the missions, even though this would probably be an easy one
- maybe updates and QoL improvements to historical challenges, but no, probably not (unless it's some Donovan Strain bangers getting added to the game)
- a(nother) middle finger to console players
- never again proper sized maps (remember the original promise?)
- yet another middle finger to console players
- no throwdown animations
- no NPCs in replay editor
- maybe free cosmetics.. if they're bundled with some "limited time update" licensing deal i guess
- maybe "limited time updates" come back at a later date for free again.. (is it me or does it smell like rebranding the sewer map, a "limited time update" ft The Drano Max Gel Clog Remover?)
...but you manage to still be sure about us still getting updates and bugfixes.
I tip my hat for that.
9:53 im in a pigeonthief video yippee
And Session doesn't even have grabs.
everything is not planned lmao
I believe the devs planned to ghost everyone when skate gets close to dropping and doesn’t have the nuts to tell the community. The “updates” and DLC’s we have got have been laughable compared to what they have told us for years…we don’t even have animations yet for fck out loud.
This game feels like shit, I do the exact trick I’m supposed to do for Daewon and it doesn’t count, how many times do I gotta do this before it counts ?
lmao
Pressure kickflip is not a pressure flip. That was my problem on rock ride
i hate to see this game go downhill man, it just sucks to see.
Wasn't the main guy that originally had the image for session stopped working on it around 1.0?
I spent good money on this game hoping it would help elevate the title to something great considering it’s a small studio. Who would have known they would’ve sold out to a bigger studio and start working on something else- essentially abandoning the game I wanted to support
New skate looks like arcade skating
Yeah the montages do make it seem like that
It seems to me that the game went up in flames once the publisher came in.
The fact that we may never see throw down animations makes me sad..
I feel like session thinks they won the skateboarding battle, but they aren’t ready to compete with the likes of EA
One word “multiplayer”
I wouldn’t be willing to continue to pay for one of DLCs and put that budget to whatever online and community play could be
If skate somehow introduces and advanced double flick it controls I wouldn’t have reason to play session at all haha
honestly, i still play the game because my friends do. i'm a vert skater, and it's really disappointing how they market the game as a skate sim, but they don't have every discipline of skateboarding from the get-go. they focused more on getting the game to market when it was clearly unfinished. on TOP of that, creature has already announced that they're working on another project besides session. that's one of the biggest reasons why i don't look forward to anything creature puts out.
not to mention, the lack of female character customization. they said that ALL of the prague DLC clothes would be available for the female characters too, and they lied about it.
say it louder! ive been saying this for so long . everyone calls me a hater or saying im a skater xl lover..which actually has more to offer (with mods)
Brother I remember one of the first kickstarter goals met was vert skating, and they were talking about doing the mocap for it (even had a closed off half pipe in the kickstarter map to tease it) and it just never went anywhere
Animation of what of course I play goofy in session how can you play regular if you’re goofy makes no sense if you’re goofy and okay left foot right foot playing regular feels switch
w pigeon upload 😀
I wonder when they’re actually gonna finish the game.
I'm disappointed there won't be updates for the Switch version
not sure if youre in b rows rad rascal discord but the guy who did xls animations was talking to boogie and told him hes back working "more than full time" and the xl build hes playing is looking WAY better and more real now. said he hasnt seen any of the new caspers from the update that was supposed to come out but what he can do is way better. idk go check it out theres more info
I am aware of some stuff going on with XL but I didn’t know it was spoke about in that server, I’ll have to check it out!
Nothing planned at this time. What is Donovan QV'ing exactly? 😂
As soon as Skate comes out I cannot wait to switch games, so much promise and such a big let down from 2-4 years ago from Session. This sucks to just always see content about the game talking about how bad it’s becoming
R.i.p session
They gave us ninja turtles and said fuck y'all
yea its dead if you don't have pc so u cant mod the game phuck this game and don't buy dlcs
14:37 "nice"
Noo we'll loose Session 😭
U need to do a big spin tutorial! How do u make them so steezy like that ?!
He did.
Check out my “How To Make Session So Much Better” video for the tutorial!
The questions answered pretty much says they're done fixing or making the game better.
I just started to mod session.
I don't think I'll get the new skate game.
I can't see not playing session just because of the replays and shorts. People like the real skate vids more on my channel but if it isn't fun, why do it?
I hope a big update will spawn one day 🤡
Wish it had a mod menu or at least make new maps free
@itspigeonthief fair, thanks for the answer!
What happened? They used to be so great and had amazing communication
Hello! I just discovered your channel! You just earned yourself a new subscriber! :)
No throw downs is pure bullshit. They kept saying it would get fixed when they got an animator. Just seems so scammy with the stuff missing or straight up lying about stuff.
All i want is multiplayer!!
Not happening ):
@@itspigeonthief i know, m8. But thats gonna kill this awesome game.
the people who are supporting this game are asking for such minor fixes and all their getting is “no” 😭
In short: My poor immersion :'(
Game was doomed the moment they put “fs Suski” as a trick name.
😂
i swear what the hell are they actually doing? i mean its Unreal Engine for gods sake they have assets and textures they reuse, they dont reinvent the wheel every map... a good modeler/unreal dev can pump out a mid sized map like every month. and thats with just a team of like 1 or 2 people. i get that physics might need a lot of time to get to work right, but like actual hard modeled content like maps, objects dropper items, gear and clothes etc. its laughable how little they put out
why is nobody demanding they add wallrides into the game? its already so close in vanilla they barely have to do anything xD
All they had to do is fix major problems instead of adding bs cosmetics and maps that have tons of bugs.
Ngl i pirate all the dlc's before buying it... You never rly know if it's ACTUALLY worth buying. I only play paid version tho but i do test the pirated one first if there's a new dlc
Our plans: Selling DLCs till nobody cares
I might have to take responsibility for one of the clown emoji's from the thumbnail 😅
But seriously, what on Earth are the developers doing? 😦
I just wanted more shoes
mods for that, i want a better gameplay
not on console
Man I'm done buying skate games.
Thought SkaterXL was good, turns out its a development shithole and theres a "Im concerned about SkaterXL" video days after buying.
Bought Session 3 days ago............
Told you so! lol
Love this game but mannnn it went downhill since they partnered up with Nacon
wow........
Ew 2025 😭😭
